The saleslady assisting us was very nice and patient. Adam must've tried on at least 2-3 different shirts and more than 5 ties. She was also nice enough to steam the shirt before wrapping it up. They have this cool policy in the store where you can try to put a hole in one mini golf style for $95 off a tie for $2 (and the money goes to charity!). Sadly, both Adam and I missed. But I enjoyed playing a lot! Mini put inside a store! I was surprised no one snubbed us as we did look very ordinary. I think once Adam specifically asked to try on a shirt, they loosened up and realized we were going to buy something. That's when they got friendlier and offered us drinks. But I really only liked the lady who helped us, the rest seemed unbothered and lazy.

I was able to find the modern look and style I was looking for, and the pricing was perfect! The store is owned and operated by a Master Tailor who provides custom fittings for anything you buy. I bought a Calvin Klein suit with a french-cuffed Sean John shirt. I didn't like how the shirt looked on me and wanted a more 'slim fit' look. He took my measurements and custom-fitted the shirt within 24 hours. This little hidden gem of a store works mainly on word of mouth and has been for several years now. They can custom make a suit for you in any style you desire. Regardless of your body type, if you like the look of a particular luxury brand (like a Hugo, Canali, or Zegna suit), bring a picture and they'll make a suit for you just like it... but for a fraction of the price!

Further back you'll find clothing - men's is on the upper level and women's on the lower. They've also got a killer jewellery section (which is where I've found myself most often drooling over the rings and earrings). I never look closely at the clothing because I don't want to tempt myself (out of my price range), but just glancing at the racks I and tell there are a lot of cute things that I hear are really great quality. From the little bit of browsing I've done the sizes are all pretty small...whomp whomp. In the men's section you'll find wallets, shave kits and some really fun socks in addition to the standard clothing fare. The Lost Cod is a fantastic idea for Halifax, and it could work in any city. The logos from old Halifax and Nova Scotia companies are freshened up and can be applied to shirts and hoodies. The price is reasonable, the clothing's good quality, and the worst part is that you can't fit all of the old-timey business logos on just one shirt.

Although I did wish they had a few more V necks to choose from. I went to the shop that was on the Harbourfront Boardwalk, i'd love to check out their Queen's Landing location someday too. Maybe I'll just slowly work through my entire Yelp friends list? The interior is a heavenly white with gorgeous painted brick walls, an open feel, round showcase tables, and a clean storage system that manages to keep a shop of small products looking both tidy and whimsical at the same time. A huge amount of their stuff is locally made (anything with a little blue dot on it) which I really appreciate. I love supporting local businesses that support other local businesses. Inkwell is the reason I started buying cards again. I would much rather spend $5 on a locally made card than on something mass produced. And it's always a little piece of art too, so it's a two-in-one gift!
