They have this cool policy in the store where you can try to put a hole in one mini golf style for $95 off a tie for $2 (and the money goes to charity!). Sadly, both Adam and I missed. But I enjoyed playing a lot! Mini put inside a store! I was surprised no one snubbed us as we did look very ordinary. I think once Adam specifically asked to try on a shirt, they loosened up and realized we were going to buy something. That's when they got friendlier and offered us drinks. I bought a Calvin Klein suit with a french-cuffed Sean John shirt. I didn't like how the shirt looked on me and wanted a more 'slim fit' look. He took my measurements and custom-fitted the shirt within 24 hours. This little hidden gem of a store works mainly on word of mouth and has been for several years now. They can custom make a suit for you in any style you desire. Regardless of your body type, if you like the look of a particular luxury brand (like a Hugo, Canali, or Zegna suit), bring a picture and they'll make a suit for you just like it... but for a fraction of the price!

Further back you'll find clothing - men's is on the upper level and women's on the lower. They've also got a killer jewellery section (which is where I've found myself most often drooling over the rings and earrings). I never look closely at the clothing because I don't want to tempt myself (out of my price range), but just glancing at the racks I and tell there are a lot of cute things that I hear are really great quality. From the little bit of browsing I've done the sizes are all pretty small...whomp whomp. In the men's section you'll find wallets, shave kits and some really fun socks in addition to the standard clothing fare. Don't miss out on the back section behind the men's clothing where the sale stuff is! They've always got a good selection of sale things. The housewares is a little sparse (also upstairs) which is disappointing because that's some of my favourite stuff UO sells. It might be a little smaller than other UO you've been into, but since it's downtown on Barrington I think they were able to scored a large feeling retail space. Today was opening day so the staff was really friendly, and a little chaotic, but that's understandable. I'm sure in a couple weeks it will clam down.

The Lost Cod is a fantastic idea for Halifax, and it could work in any city. The logos from old Halifax and Nova Scotia companies are freshened up and can be applied to shirts and hoodies. The price is reasonable, the clothing's good quality, and the worst part is that you can't fit all of the old-timey business logos on just one shirt.

Although I did wish they had a few more V necks to choose from. I went to the shop that was on the Harbourfront Boardwalk, i'd love to check out their Queen's Landing location someday too. I also purchased a couple of awesome stickers with some classic Nova Scotia and Halifax in particular logos. They even threw one in on the house. Although its been open for about ten years, I'd only recently learned of Wildflower from an acquaintance. Its confines are currently dressed in soft, breathable garments and assuring color palates. (Periwinkle, charcoal, rose pink, nude, and flecks of colour amongst it all!) Its actually a breath of fresh air, and a different variety from other independent boutiques in the area. I was elated to discover the accumulation of Free People frocks, which is probably my favorite [semi] affordable brand of all time. The owner mentioned that they would be getting more in soon-- whoo hoo! The overall stock seems romantic, flowing, and of excellent taste. Cute tops, rich fabrics and cuts are here for the taking. I think its safe to say that Wildflower has Bohemian Romantic down. The owner of the shop offered me genuine conversation and an easy shopping experience. I was the only patron at the time, so we chatted as I browsed. There was no pressure, no facade-- just good conversation and a shop full of wonders. After much swooning and chit-chat, I know this is a boutique I can dig. Besides the clothes, there were also some pretty neat accessories. I'd say the owner of Wildflower has a great eye.
