Fast fashion at its prime. H&M has earned itself a name for well addressed styles and decently priced finds for fashionistas all over the globe. A recent trip to the Dartmouth location meant my second time setting foot inside this franchise, and I was curious to refresh my not-so-awesome initial impression.
The store is exactly what one might expect. A large, mass shopping experience with overloads of product left, right and center. The store maintained a fresh, clean glow, however the factory vibes of fast fashion crept their way into my experience. Accessories, basics, glamoured threads and featured trends to cater to many different folk.
The spot was quite busy during my visit, and I could see the store getting messier as time went on. With the assortment of styles, nothing at H&M was really calling to me. Lots of cheery frocks for girls and boys; men and women... but the confined spaces displayed more cookie-cutter styles than one might prefer.
I always thought of H&M as Canada's equivalent to (UK's) "Top Shop". But in my second browsing, I'm seeing it more like a step above Old Navy. Perhaps its all about timing, and maybe it just wasn't the right day. But I wasn't feeling H&M's vibes, nor its summertime fashions.
I expect a little bit more, but surely won't count this one out. With the lightening-speed overturn of stock, Fall fashions are just around the corner. Perhaps I'll find a winner. read more
