super thin, flimsy hinges that belong on a doll house!
    Scott G.

Buyer beware! This company is currently doing business as Urban Northern Coops (no new Yelp page). This scam artist company is masquerading as a "family run" business... some way to raise a family?! Teach your kids how to mislead people and rip them off just to make a quick buck... they should be ashamed. We found UrbanNorthern.com on Craigslist. We THOUGHT we were supporting a local business buying locally made products. This company falsely advertises their products with images of other similar chicken coops. The product descriptions are vague and deceptive. They mislead people that their products are made in US with comments on their website like "shipped from the US." Their products are really made in China and the quality is not even close to what they suggest on their website. They display dozens of 4- and 5-star reviews on their website... reviews that THEY control, THEY filter - shoot, THEY probably even write them themselves. These coops are very cheaply made with thin strips of wood STAPLED together. The latches and hinges are so thin... a raccoon or any predator with any amount of strength could bust through. Our coop is only a couple weeks old and the latches are already failing and the "asphalt roofing" is already bubbling and separating from the sub-roof. There is NO way this coop will survive one winter here in the Pacific Northwest. They market these as "predator safe" yet their coops don't even have floors. We found the exact same chicken coop - I MEAN IDENTICAL - on Wayfair for almost 1/3 the price we paid. We tried to get a partial refund - so we wouldn't feel as ripped off but they refused. Don't waste your time or your money with these guys!

Do not buy from this company. They are selling garbage. Super thin wood, poorly designed, 5 months assembled and it's starting to lean over and has cracks forming. I regret my purchase every time I go feed the girls which is supposed to be a relaxing activity.

This is called PLYWOOD, not solid fir wood as the company insists.

We ordered a chicken coop on August 9,2021. I have many pictures illustrating that it arrived with multiple broken pieces, merely stapled together(!), and is clearly not constructed of solid wood, as advertised. The company advertises this chicken coop, the "Resort Chicken Coop and Run," as solid wood, but it is constructed using staples and extremely thin plywood and are not solid in construction as the company asserts. This "coop" has such shoddy construction; metal is thin and bent/ bends easily, etc. The company representatives, Michelle and Bill, are asserting that there is no plywood in their product, but this is a lie. Plywood is not solid wood. This is of terribly shoddy construction and blatant false advertising; this would not hold up to a mild rain to keep out the rain let alone a storm. These assertions are based on basic logic/ common sense, in addition to extensive construction experience on top of years of experience with chicken coops, poultry, and predators such as raccoons, which are common in urban and rural settings. The product listing also asserts that this product uses "strong galvanized metal mesh wire" when in reality it could easily be bent by a small feline. We have repeatedly requested that the company pay for return shipping to return the product, but this request has been repeatedly denied due to "company policy," in spite of the blatant false advertising and clear shoddy construction. Staples and metal that is so thin that it bends with the slightest of pressure do not offer superior quality. Rather, this is obviously of such inferior quality as to easily qualify for the junk pile. I wouldn't even risk burning the wood as it has the appearance of toxic junk from China. I have attempted to work this out with the company but they are insisting that the scammed customer not only be on the hook for return shipping costs but also initial shipping costs, to the tune of hundreds of dollars. Precisely, the consumer, a victim of an obvious scam, is being expected to not only shoulder the original $219.99 for shipping but ALSO the cost of return shipping, for a minimum total cost of $439.98 in exchange for no product at all, when false advertising is apparent. Of course, retrospectively now, it is clear that this is not an unusual situation with this company, and false advertising is in fact their business model, as evidenced by the links below, including an alert from the BBB: https://www.backyardchickens.com/reviews/urban-northern-coops-resort-coop.11849/ https://www.bbb.org/us/wa/marysville/profile/farm-equipment/urban-northern-coops-1296-1000030400 https://www.yelp.com/biz/urban-northern-coops-marysville I have numerous photos proving my assertions. Replacement parts cannot fix inferior materials/ craftsmanship, nor can they address false advertising claims. This company clearly engages in gaslighting and scamming customers, as they have attempted to do in this case- and goodness if they aren't good at gaslighting! If you've been scammed, be sure to file with your credit card company, lodge a review on the BBB, and file with the Washington state attorney general. They'll try to gaslight you via the BBB, but that alert needs to stay on their profile. The Attorney General response you receive from the company will also be an apparent scam response, but the more complaints the AG receives, the more likely they'll shut the company down.

Please do not buy! Probably the worst purchase I have ever made; flimsy, not fit for purpose, over priced with rude and unhelpful owners. We bought a chicken coop from Urban Northern (it arrived several weeks late) and installed it after Labor Day - it was useless by March. It is very flimsy (the gate, sliding doors and latch all broke within weeks), over priced and extremely poorly constructed (horrendously poor quality). We lost 15 chickens over several months. When we emailed the owner, they denied any responsibility and blamed predators. They would not even send us spare parts. Extremely rude and unhelpful.

Seller has terrible customer service and sells a junk product for top dollar. My coop is 3 months old and already falling apart. The hardware cloth came brittle and already corroded. The roofline is already cracking. We had to add extra screws so it wouldn't sway... and the seller would take our return IF we paid for shipping.... i sent the seller pics, and said she saw nothing wrong, but for $20 she would sell us a new roof line piece. It's only 3 months old. Then the seller said I wanted a free product and if i left honest reviews then I was blackmailing her for my money refunded!

Don't buy from this company. The coups are extremely over price and will not hold up to any predators. Very cheaply made. Your better off buying a small shed and putting some nesting boxes in yourself. Plus you'll have plenty of storage room. I may cost a few dollars more but you won't be throwing your money away.

Lots of moths flying around from the food, though. We continued to purchase supplies and food from Apollo's, but often noticed that the owner was, at best, disinterested. The whole shop is just sort of slapdash, and it always seemed that any questions were met with a healthy dose of apathy. Recently, we scheduled a week in advance to board our conure for a long weekend while we were out of town. We arrived to drop our conure off at 10am right when the store was supposed to open. SUPPOSED to open. After 45 minutes of sitting in the parking lot, repeatedly calling, and staring at the shuttered windows and locked door, we left and made other last minute arrangements, though we were still an hour late getting to the airport. Once we finally got in touch with the store to cancel the boarding reservation, we were met with an aloof apology and a muttered excuse about being 'stuck in traffic' with no offer to make it right. We had also planned to groom our bird during his stay. Since the stay didn't work out, we asked if we could bring him in the following Monday for nails and a wing-clipping. Nope. Again, an apathetic reply that grooming could only be done on Saturdays, and click went the phone. Today, we decided to try Wings of the World in Bothell for a grooming. What a gem of a store. Not only was grooming complimentary, but we learned more about our bird in 20 minutes there than we did from multiple visits to Apollo's. The shop and staff were amazing, eager to help, and genuinely love all things bird-related. Good luck to you, Apollo's. We won't darken your door again.

I found the birds living here to be in great condition. The store itself is a bit messy, but it looks like the owner is working on it. The Mother and daughter that own/work here are very nice and knowledgeable about everything bird. Tips: They only charge 5 dollars for small birds and 15 for large birds when doing nails, beak and wing trims....way cheaper than the vet and she does a great job. The food and toys are priced fairly and so are the birds for sale. They prefer cash and will give a discount if you use cash instead of debit/credit cards. Beware! If you don't have previous bird experience...Don't touch the birds! The owner told me which birds were "nice" and the first time I was in there I got bit by a "baby" cockatoo...he was NOT NICE! The second time I was told a goffin cockatoo was nice (he looked perfectly sweet) and the little turd jumped on my head, laughed and proceeded to attack me. The owner stood 10 feet away and either chose to ignore the fact that I was fighting for my head back or she was just oblivious to the attack that was happening right in front of her. I managed to up the viscous little attacker and get him back on his cage, but I left with my hair all disarray and my fingers bleeding. Lesson learned!

Words can't express all the hard work, time, passion, and love she has put into her wonderful birds and also into supporting and educating their families. Barbi's Bird House is the place to go for a new bird (and for toys and other supplies)! My family brought home our precious baby budgie, Bondi, from Barbi just over a month ago. What a joy the whole experience has been, from initially contacting Barbi, to multiple text and phone conversations leading up to our appointment. I've had 4 budgies over the years so am not a newbie, but I always want to keep learning how to care for them better. I've gotten great new information and tips from Barbi. She has all the food, toys, and supplies you could need, and is available for questions anytime. She's passionate about bird health and diet and will support you in giving your birds the best life possible. She takes the time to make sure you and your new bird are the right match for each other and you're fully prepared before heading home. And if you order toys from her, she knows exactly which ones your bird will love. You're not just buying a bird from Barbi; you're gaining new friends in her and her husband Roar. They are so kind and welcoming, you will feel like part of their family. As someone who adores budgies and feels they often don't get nearly the care and appreciation they deserve, I am so grateful to Barbi. Finding anyone who breeds them has been difficult, let alone someone who will put in the time and effort to hand-feed them. It's been evident how this pays off in greatly reducing stress and speeding up adjustment to a new home. Right away, Bondi was already months ahead of a pet store budgie in being more used to and positive about people and not getting scared of new things. Knowing that not all budgies receive very good care, I find that getting to see what Barbi puts into them is a balm to the spirit. Thank you, Barbi!
