Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Always a good selection of feeders. Better quality than the pet stores.

A little expensive and a great selection (minus bearded dragons which we went for in the first place) but a great store!

I was given a ton of excellent advice along with purchasing a couple of frozen rodents to offer the snake in a last ditch effort before sending her to a rescue.

I absolutely adore this place!…read more Aside from a Petco or Petsmart I don't think I've ever really been in a reptile store and I got to tell you, every time I visit to pick up rats for my snakes, UGG. I love it! I feel like once in awhile they change their layout but the most RECENT change up? Amazing! Please don't change it. My favorite are the giant snakes (that used to be in the back and harder to see) but now I can see them up front and center! They are huge! I came a few weeks ago when one of the staff members were handling the green tree python and ugg so beautiful in person (I watch a lot of snake videos on YT). Anyways, I'm getting carried away, I initially wanted to leave a review for my actual purchase of F/T rats and mice. I still remember the first time I came in and I asked for some mice... the sweet girl goes to the back and brings me a LIVE MOUSE! I'm like "ooooh no no no, I need frozen please!" Haha! Ever since then, I make sure to clarify I need frozen. My hognose is a great eater and never had any issues and before I found this place, I had to order in bulk like 50-100... and it was not cheap nor did I have the space. When I got my ball python, there was no way I was going to be ordering 50+ rats and you know how they can be... when I first got him he ate 2 times and decided to go on a hunger strike for 6 months... good thing I didn't have 48 more rats in my freezer lol! Both my snakes eat great which means they really take care of their rodents and I have been a happy customer for the past 1.5ish years? I used to drive up from Ballard but now we live in Everett so it's only 15 mins away! Thanks for all that you guys do and being welcoming every time (:

We went to Hewitt Reptile Emporium looking to buy a crested gecko, but staff member Nina sold us on…read morea veiled chameleon instead... and we couldn't be happier! Even though the chameleon is a more complicated creature to care for, Nina taught us everything we needed to know to be successful with our new pet, and has continued to answer any questions that have arisen. Also, unlike at the big chain stores, Hewitt breeds their own chameleons and they know what they're doing. If you buy a reptile from Petco or Petsmart, you're likely to get one that has been bred from poor stock, has been improperly cared for, and is unhealthy. Avoid these expensive and heartbreaking problems by shopping at Hewitt!

I adopted a kitty recently at this store/shelter and am utterly disappointed. Here's my…read moreexperience... They will lie and won't respond: - Elizabeth the woman I dealt with said - he is doing well with other kitties - HE IS NOT - I called several times to follow-up - THEY AVOID FOLLOW-UPS. NO CALLS RETURNED - they say they work with a rescue in Hawaii - there's no phone number on the website so I emailed and AGAIN NO RESPONSE - they use social media to send out nice photos. In reality, it's a very sad place. This is THE MOST NEGLECTED shelter I have seen - A neighbor recently told me they lied to him about his pup that grew up to be a huge dog CONTRARY TO WHAT HE'S BEING TOLD of it being a terrier mix! How they operate: - Other shelters usually ask questions about if you have other pets or will the pet be indoor or outdoor, etc. HERE THEY DON'T CARE! - They are active in social media with FAKE REVIEWS and enticing people with nice photos to adopt especially dog puppies because they CHARGE MOST FOR THEM. The POOR PUPPIES are placed right by the entrance of the store! - The building is rather run down. The living conditions of the animals are not that good. HARDLY ANY BLANKETS. DIRTY. NOT ENOUGH WATER. BAD VENTILATION... - They have KIDS supposedly interns doing the dirty work whereas the adults are on their phone and chatting by the counter I might praise them for rescuing all kinds of animals. Unfortunately they don't know how and are not equipped to take care of exotic animals. A huge parrot in a small cage or a big tortoise as attractions! They should be taken to specialized rescues. THERE'S JUST SOMETHING WRONG WITH HOW THEY OPERATE, SO JUST BEWARE!
