I didn't want to sit in my hotel waiting so I called prior to his appointment asking if they have any services around the same time and they did! I decided on a hydrating facial and head massage. The facial did not disappoint. Jeni was my esthetician and was amazing. Absolutely gentle and when she put this cold like frosting mask on my face, my skin perked up as if it had been waiting a lifetime for this thirst quenching mask. She said it's like giving your skin 8 hours of hydration and let me tell you, in this hot South Carolina summer heat, everyone needs this! I can't wait to go back. The best way to start a week-long vacation is with a massage. My husband and I have made this a point in our recent travels, and it really helps reset your mind and body for some much needed relaxation. We scheduled four 90-minute integrated massages at the Urban Nirvana Spa in Freshfields Village. I booked all of the appointments about a month in advance to ensure we'd all be able to get in. We ended up having two massage therapists for our group, who did back-to-back services. These were all scheduled as individual sessions, although they gave us the option for couples' massages. The price was what you'd expect for the Kiawah-Seabrook area, but it's well worth it in my opinion. If you've only ever had an hour-long massage, I highly recommend upgrading, even if it's just this once while you're on vacation. 90 minutes is truly magical for restoring energy and relieving stress. We all left feeling rejuvenated and ready to kick off a wonderful week in Charleston! read more

Decided to venture out and head to Kiawah to try the spa here. The location is in a cute little shopping village. When you walk in they have a little shop with candles, lotions, hair clips, and so much more. Once checked in the receptionist takes you to a cute waiting area with coffee, tea and water. You can also change into a robe they provide for you. It's was a bit chilly but once you lay on the bed you'll see why. The masseuse asks a few questions and then you get started. The first thing is the massage bed is heated. OMG it's amazing. I had a great massage with firm pressure. She checked in a few times to make sure the pressure was still good. I recently came back for a 90-minute integrated massage with Hallie. She did great work! Before my appointment, I received a text that I could receive 30% off a facial if booked for the same day. This is good to know! I didn't have time for both services, though. I do wonder, when you book a massage such as a 90-minute massage, what the expected time is to actually receive services. I have always been called back a few minutes after my appointment time. Then I change, get on the table, and the session begins. My therapy ends at the 90-minute mark from my appointment time. So, perhaps you actually receive 75-80 minutes of service for a 90-minute massage booking. This may be normal and expected, but I don't know. +++PREVIOUS REVIEW+++ FACIAL I came to Urban Nirvana Kiawah for a classic facial with Jeni. I discussed skin concerns (dryness, pores, redness) and goals for today's appointment (hydration, cooling). I was surprised that my therapist used products for oily and acne-prone skin when I was wanting hydration for dry skin. My skin is combination and I do not have acne. The facial was pedestrian and not therapeutic. I would not return for a facial. MASSAGE I booked a 90-minute integrated massage with Fiona. My massage was excellent; Fiona listed to my areas of concern and responded appropriately. I would return for a massage with Fiona. OVERALL The shop has a great variety of loungewear, candles, lotions, and other body products. Front desk staff were kind and helpful. Omg please do not get hair done here. I was charged a full highlight...had 3 foils in the back- nothing at the crown... baby lights in the front...no cut No dry and it was 220 plus tip. As a local, I've been to Urban Nirvana several times over the years. Like most spas, their front-of-house staff is delightful and attentive. However, Urban Nirvana separates themselves on the tables as their therapists are masters of the craft. I feel like other big-box spas hire entry-level therapists and focus more on other aspects that aren't important to me. There are exceptions to every rule, but this has been my personal experience. I work 70+ hours per week running a business, and within 60-90 minutes, my mind/body is rejuvenated for days. I wish I could schedule a Monday session to start every week! The initial impression of Urban Nirvana Day Spa @ Freshfields is a positive one. The spa area once you enter through the doors is very relaxing and calming so naturally one expects a relaxing massage treatment. My rating comes in higher for atmosphere and front desk personnel but my rating for a particular massage therapist has to be 1 star. I should have known as soon as she laid her "cold" hands on me that I was in for a negative experience. The massage table was nice and warm and cozy and I don't know how a therapist could approach a client with cold hands and cold cream! I asked for a Swedish relaxing massage but wanted to feel "invigorated" and she assured me ( even though she insisted that her way was the way to go, she was too perfectionist if for me and to a fault!)..so I didn't feel heard. Not many long massaging "actions" were present and she insisted on doing pressure points which was irritating and probably easier for her-- and I would guess "ineffective" to the finished treatment. Felt like she was pinching me and not in a good way. I stopped her midway through the massage and announced that I "wasn't having a good time" and she had me "turn over" onto my back to finish-- her techniques were better but I don't know why she didn't start out that way- it was slightly more relaxing but my end result was dissatisfaction and irritation--she didn't feel very experienced technique wise or maybe she just liked to do this service her way. Would not return. Have been a client at both locations and will have to get more info on therapists before booking another appointment with UNDSpa. read more

I arrived 3-4minutes prior to my massage (because there is a hair salon with the same name a block down so it was confusing where to go). When I arrived a woman was chit-chatting with the only employee in the front area. I wasn't able to check in until after my scheduled massage time due to the chatting. Then was escorted back and a women came to greet me and bring me to the room. She said for a 30minute massage it would be targeted to a specific area (totally expected this). I told her to focus on my neck and shoulders. However during the massage she spent 50% of the time on my lower back and VERY little time on my neck or shoulders -- extremely disappointing. Honestly my mom could have provided me with a massage of equal quality for free. I was face down the entire time which is shocking as every other massage I've ever had has asked me to turn over to target other areas. The massage was a total of 20minutes even though I paid for a 30 minute massage. Do not recommend. read more

I went to Urban Nirvana Spa on 7/9/2020 for a facial and the "rubbed and wrapped" body service. I booked these services to leave relaxed and refreshed, and that's exactly how I felt when I was done! My facial with Jeni was excellent; my face was fresh and hydrated. I appreciated that she explained what products she was using on my face. I had the rubbed and wrapped service with Karen and truly enjoyed it. I was so relaxed that I drifted off to sleep for a short while. Everyone at this spa was so kind and professional. From the very start it was an easy and pleasant experience. The receptionist was very helpful and contacted me to let me know we could move our appointment if need be. We had a late afternoon couples massage. The facility was very clean. The products they had out for us to try were amazing. The beds were some of the most comfortable we have ever laid on. Our masseuses, joe and Stacy, did an excellent job. They were very professional. Both of us have past injuries and they worked with them with the utmost care. The masseuse's attention to the muscles in my shoulder has relieved pain I've had for years. We will definitely be back!!! read more

Nothing but praise for this spa located in the village and right next to the Andell Inn! I needed a little extra relaxation and this was the perfect destination for an afternoon 90 minute massage. Easy to book online using the MindBody app on my phone. Check in was easy and the staff were friendly and informative. Great full body massage that left me ready fully refreshed. I booked myself for a massage while on vacation and this was a GREAT spot! The space is beautiful and relaxing. I was treated to a relaxation room and a cup of hot tea while my massage therapist, Theresa, got the room ready. Theresa was a seasoned massage therapist who did an amazing job with my tense shoulders and was very personable. I had hands-down the best massage I've ever gotten in my life from Callie, today. This place is gorgeous, luxe, impeccably clean and the entire staff is accommodating and friendly. When you arrive, you're given time to put on a robe and slippers and hang out in the little spa waiting area until your therapist comes to get you. I really liked not feeling rushed and being able to unwind for a few minutes before heading into the private room. I opted for the hot stone massage and also had a muscle injury on my right leg that Callie took extra time to work on until it truly felt better. I left feeling relaxed, with some guidance on how best to heal and even a little take-home lotion to apply to my injury later on this evening. I have had many massages over the years so I'm picky on technique. Recently I had the priviledge of getting Scott at Nirvana and he is absolutely incredible. He is a master massage therapist and only slightly more than the regular massage, but he is worth every penny. She asked if I would like to reschedule and I said no, that I had a very bad experience at the Salon and would not be returning to Urban Nirvana.
