But hey, what's life without a little creative chaos? Upon arriving at the studio, we were warmly greeted, quickly checked in, and given the option to explore or grab a drink at the bar. The previous session had run a little over time, so the staff was hustling to reset the studio for the next round of soon-to-be Picassos. I appreciated the extra effort--they had each station prepped with paint, brushes, and palettes, making it easy for us to dive right in. Of course, we opted for a drink first. A beer and a glass of wine set us back a very reasonable $10. Not bad at all! With drinks in hand, we wandered around, admiring the finished pieces from previous sessions while soaking in the lively atmosphere. The music selection--a fantastic mix of '80s hits and yacht rock--set the perfect mood. Rachel, our instructor for the evening, took the stage, and I have to give a shoutout to the setup. Large monitors on either side of the room displayed her demonstrations, making it easy to follow along. She guided us step by step--what brush to use, how to mix the perfect shade--but for someone with zero artistic ability (me), keeping up was a challenge. More than once, I found myself a step (or three) behind. Thankfully, Rachel was a rockstar--always there to encourage, assist, and even mix paints when needed. Midway through, we took a much-needed 15-minute break, which was a nice touch. Whether you needed time to let your masterpiece dry or just catch up, it was a welcome pause. Unfortunately, there was a small medical incident during the break, but the staff handled it with care and professionalism. Luckily, everything turned out fine, but it was comforting to see how attentive they were to their guests. By the end of the night, we had our very own (questionable) works of art to take home. Are they Louvre-worthy? Absolutely not. But the memories we made? Priceless. Would we do it again? In a heartbeat. A great vibe, great drinks, and an even better experience. Highly recommend--for date night or fun with friends!

Today was our first visit having found it through a Groupon deal. I thought it would be a fun little excursion for myself and my mini me who loves all things art. She picked out a fairy jewelry box and myself a bowl with an intricate design. Joe, the owner, explained the entire process step by step and Mason, the manager, assisted with learning techniques and using tools for our particular projects. Well my bowl ended up being an hours long deal because I am so particular and determined (Joe said it's a strength called being deliberate). They didn't bat an eye and allowed me all the time I needed to complete my bowl. That's not to say I NEEDED to finish in one sitting, I just can't leave things unfinished. You can work on something a little over several days if need be, only paying your studio fee each time. We both had such a blast, we're considering a membership so we can continue the fun and visit our new friends Joe and Mason when they open at their bigger and better location this upcoming weekend. Go create something special as a gift or for yourself. You can spend time with friends and family or chat with the great people working there. No doubt about it, we'll be back! (They also have Date Night events and birthday parties!)

The place was clean and the staff was super friendly. They were super helpful and were able to share some great information about the local area. There was a huge variety of things to paint and a great color selection. After painting you wait a week and then go pick it up. There is a studio fee which isn't too expensive. The activity can get pricy depending on what you choose to paint. Overall super fun. Will definitely return for the holidays with all the different pieces they offer.

If you attend a community event, be sure to also check out the exhibits or follow The Lux online--they feature some truly powerful artwork that's absolutely worth seeing. I also love learning about their artists-in-residence and really appreciate their commitment to diversity and inclusion. A friend gifted my young son a pottery class, and he absolutely loved it. I'd love to attend more classes or the day camps, but they are a bit pricier than other options, so we haven't yet. The Lux truly has a heart for engaging children in the arts. If you're able, please support The Lux! It's such a wonderful, colorful, fun gem for everyone and offers classes in a variety of art mediums, including pottery, drawing, painting, printmaking, jewelry making and more.
