Have it another try and had a much better experience. The food was quick when you order from the tablet. There are a range of choices for $36pp on dinner/weekend menu. The place was clean and attracted many young people but also families for the shabu shabu experience. Food was fresh. If you don't want to order off the tablet they also during busy times have a conveyor belt of dishes. You can pull off and cook if you see something that you like most of the items on the conveyor about were vegetables or noodle items instead of meats and seafood.

Hot pot is always super fun for group dinners :) I had the split pot with the original and tom yum soups, both were delicious and gave all the toppings so much flavor. The staff were very attentive and quick to answer our questions. I also appreciated the sauce recipes at the sauce station, since a lot of times I don't know what I'm doing when I make my sauce lol. For dessert I had the cake, and it came with coconut frosting. It was surprisingly decent, considering I would never consider a hot pot place having cake for dessert. I'd definitely recommend Urban if you're looking for a fun group dinner experience and going for a walk afterwards in the Mosaic area.

My friend got baptized this past Sunday so we celebrated afterwards at Urban Hot Pot! We had a party of 8 and sat at the booth for 8 (four on each side). It was actually really uncomfortable (more so than inconvenient) to slide in and out, so I would recommend avoiding this seating arrangement if you can. Other than that, Urban Hot Pot was great! In the DMV, this is probably my top 2 favorite AYCE hot pots to go to. We paid $34.99 per person for the dinner/weekend pricing, which included the premium meats and options like ribeye and crab. Immediately after we sat down, we ordered our broth (each person gets a personal-sized pot) using the tablet at each table and went to the sauce buffet to create our own sauces. Lots of options to make it sweet, savory, spicy, acidic, or all the above. We got our food within 2-5 minutes after placing an order, so the service is fast to make sure we maximize the 90 minute time limit we had to eat. The broths and the first batch of ingredients arrived before most people finished making their sauce. I will say, it gets pretty hectic when ordering. We had one person ordering off the iPad making suggestions and seven people screaming "yes/no" all at once. I got the ORIGINAL SOUP broth, which is a pork soup base. It was creamy and savory, and only got better as I piled on the veggies and meats. They have so many options -- I didn't feel like they were missing anything I usually would like for hot pot. From the vegetables, I enjoyed the baby bok choy, napa, taro, and enoki mushroom. From the meats (land animals), I enjoyed the ribeye steak the most because it was much less fatty than the sliced US beef option, which was... too much. I put a few of those in and my entire broth turned into fat and no longer drinkable. The lamb was good, too. From the seafood section, I really enjoyed the fish filet -- I wish I ate less of the beef/lamb and more of the fish, which was tender and soft, soaking up the flavors of the broth. Lastly, our table got lots of fish tofu and quail eggs (and I mean like 20+ orders) which were all great. The lobster ball was pretty good, but not my favorite. Overall, we ate incredibly well and were very full. I tapped out after an hour since we did very little talking and shoveled food in our mouths the whole time. I had a great experience at Urban Hot Pot, I would definitely come back if I want AYCE hot pot in the future.

Great food, quick service, nothing really to complain about. Everything was great. Meat was amazing. Did not feel rushed even going slightly over time.

Stopped here for lunch on the weekend. The amount of food you can order and eat in 90 mins makes this place worth the $35 cost for ACYE (all you can eat). We also came on the weekend so the premium option was included, but i believe you have to pay extra for that option on the week day. We just got a bunch of meat, veggies, meat, shrooms, meat, fish balls, and dare i say... more meat. There is a variety of soup base you can pick and a sauce bar where you can make your own dipping sauce. Service was quick and fast. We sat near the conveyer belt, which rotates a variety of items. But typically, you order what you want through the iPad and they bring it out to you super quickly. Sometimes they will use the robot as well to deliver some items. Definitely ate our fill. Place had plenty do tables and everyone gets their own mini hot pot so that was cute. This location was at the Mosaic so you can park along the street if you are lucky or find a spot in the garage. Place is worth checking out

I've been here many times and it's a solid location. I wish they made use of the old conveyer belt more but I like their speed and iPad ordering system. The staff are always pleasant. I would like more fatty beef cuts. However, they have a great beef tongue, larger dumplings. A great sauce bar and fantastic sage desserts.

Oh my gosh I love this place. The food is all amazing and I love that it's all you can eat (well in 90 min) and is a good price. I don't think I've had anything bad there the few times I've gone with friends. I love that you can order from the tablet at the table when you want and that you can create your own sauces at their sauce bar. The staff is always really nice and the restaurant itself is cozy. Highly recommend.

Lynda D.

I love eating hotpot and this spot is in my top 3. They are a more modernized take on hotpot with an all-you-can-eat personal hotpot rather than one big family style. Great sauce bar with a good amount of different options to make your own custom dipping sauce. Ordering is done on an iPad/tablet which makes it very convenient to order more items or call for service while you eat. If you are coming here really hungry during dinner time, make sure to put in a reservation. Even on weekdays they seem to be a bit busy. My only complaint would probably be on seating areas. Especially with larger parties the booth-like seatings are hard to get in and out of especially if you're seated against the wall. The two people seating is much more comfortable and there is a conveyor belt in the middle of the store circling out different menu items while you eat so you can just grab from your seat.

Julie S.

My favorite spot in NOVA for hot pot hands down. I always leave here satisfied by the food. It does get very busy during weekends/evenings and this place doesn't take reservations. So be prepared to wait. It's AYCE for $35/person for dinner. You order on the ipad and the food comes out quick! There's also a conveyor belt that has food items to grab. I love their sauce bar with lots of homemade or build your own concoctions. I also ALWAYS get the tom yum broth every time and it always hits. Service is hit or miss. You would most likely not have much interaction with staff bc everything is done through the ipad. They do come by often to clear plates though. I have noticed that portions are a lot less this last time i have visited. For example; i placed 2 orders of head on shrimps and a total of 3 shrimps came out... I understand the need to stop food waste but FYI.

One (seafood) of the menu screens.

Love Urban Hot Pot. For approximately $35/person for all you can eat dinner (and I think roughly $21/person for lunch), can't beat that price! Service is okay... you don't really interact with staff except for being sat, staff who bring the food out, and getting your check. But with AYCE, that's kinda understood, else, they'd be running crazily around the restaurant. After visiting the sauce bar, where there are recipes for popular sauces (or choose your own adventure and build your own), dinner consisted of 6 friends sitting around the table, each with their own pots that ranged in spice level, as well as one gluten free (which is great the Urban Hot Pot has those options). It was family style when it came to the noodles and meats and vegetables. All in the middle and everyone grabbed what they want. It's worth at least just giving it a try, especially for the price! But make sure your entire part arrives around the same time to be sat!

Rashonna T.

I love Urban Hot Pot! the food is always fresh starting with the broth is great, the vegetable, meat and seafood selection feels endless... and the service is always friendly and on point. my husband and I go for date night at least 3x a month. GOOD STUFF!

Everything We ordered on the menu.

Self service most of the time with the iPad. Server didn't really help much. The food here is good. But the sauce bar can improve a little. I love their small portions every time cause it does help not to waste food. Soup base was good. Got original and miso. Both were good. Love that their small pots are also split in two soup base. I'd come back cause it's my sisters favorite place.

Sarah K.

the wait was about 20 mins on a saturday night. the broth selection here is amazing. this was my first time trying chinese broth for hot pot and i was pleasantly surprised. there is a convey belt with popular sides rotating at all times. the quality of the meat was good and the vegetables were all fresh. the food was great and fairly priced. the inside was clean and service was good.

Our dinner last night was disappointing, and it was the worst of the many we've had here. The service was slow. The food was tasteless. We had to delay our departure while they corrected our check. The details are below. Maybe the first clue was when a waiter dropped a butter-coated knife on my back right after I sat down. That would have been a good time to cut our losses, but we persevered. , and it was the worst of We sat for a while before anyone came by to take our drink and appetizer orders. 15 minutes after that, our drinks and four slices of bread arrived. My Trio Manhattan tasted pretty good. (Hold that thought.) 15 minutes after that, the manager stopped by and told us that they had sold the last of the appetizers we ordered and asked us to order replacements, on him. (Hold that thought.) The replacement appetizers arrived. Our beef carpaccio had almost no flavor, except for the drizzle of sauce on top. We ordered our main courses, sides, and another round of drinks. The food showed up, but not the drinks. After asking several waiters, several times, my second Manhattan was delivered. It was warm (probably from sitting on the bar, waiting to be picked up for half an hour) and nowhere near as tasty as the first one. (You can let go of the first thought.) Back to the food... My Boneless Ribeye was boneless and also flavorless, except for the salt they had sprinkled on. The whipped potatoes were OK. The Jumbo Asparagus was asparagus and anything but jumbo. When the check finally arrived, we had to send it back (probably should have done that with much of what had been brought to our table during the meal) because they wanted to charge us for the appetizers that the manager said were "on him." (OK, you can let go of the second thought now.) To me, it's never worth paying for bad food. Being expected to pay a premium for it makes it an even worse value. This place, last night, was a complete waste of money.

I want to mention I was meeting friends and never did we once feel like we were rushed at all. They were very careful to watch and approach in a perfectly timed manner. The food was all very good. The fried zucchini was served not at all as I would expect. Very thin, but good. The tzatziki sauce had way too much garlic. The fried squid was excellent. Probably the best I've ever had. Extremely tender, and the coating was not hard at all. The scoldolia (garlic spread) served in the center had very little garlic in it. It should have a lot of garlic, unlike the tzatziki sauce. The octopus was served with a lovely, what I believe to be, lemony hummus. The Bronzino was excellent. The seafood souvlaki special was very good. It was served with rice and Greek style green beans. My friends had the loukumades (fried donuts). They said they were very good. I had the galotopoudiko which was good--could've been a little bigger for the price. Will definitely go back. My only comment is for the prices, I would expect a little nicer atmosphere. It's a little cold and baron. The atmosphere at Nostos is better. Something is very off with the (lack of) protein quality at the Falls Church location. The head-on shrimp were smallish - some were 21-25 count, some were 26-30 count, and all had an off-putting *green* poop line. The clams were inedible and tiny. Half of the clams were missing from their shells. They shouldn't be sold. When I showed the poor quality of the clams to the server, they offered a 20% discount - clearly they don't get it. What keeps me loyal to the brand is their signature Hot N Juicy Special sauce (mod: extra garlic). No other Viet Cajun (even in Houston or wherever) comes close to the depth and complexity of the Hot N Juicy Special sauce. For now, the winning move is to order a some sausage in a cup with Hot N Juicy Special medium sauce w/extra garlic TO GO, and sautée it with a bag of defrosted Costco head-on 16-20 count shrimp, or a few dozen live Cherrystone clams from HMart. So when I got invited to come to lunch here with some friends, I jumped at the opportunity. One of my favorite things about Lazy Mike's is all of their vegan options. Having previewed the menu here, it looked like there was a similar array of vegan friendly dishes here. I ended up ordering the vegan Phish and chips. The fried tofu was absolutely delicious and their vegan beer batter was perfect. Unfortunately, I had to white pieces of broken plastic that ended up in my mouth. I was very lucky that when I bit down on them, it was at an angle that they didn't go into my gums. I'm not sure if it was in the fried tofu or if it was in the tartar sauce that accompanied. After making the server aware, he was apologetic and offered to put something else in for me. I ordered the vegan chili mac. It was OK. The lentil chili was delicious, but I figured the dish would come with some kind of vegan shredded cheese on it, but it was just a naked lentil chili over a bit of linguine. I asked if they had any kind of a vegan cheese they can melt over the top, assuming that, like their sister restaurant, they would have some vegan cheese slices or something but he said they had nothing. I was also a bit disappointed that the manager never came over to check up or apologize about the sharp shards of plastic in my food. At the end of the day, I'm convinced that my experience was the exception here so I will be giving them another try, mostly because I really want to support vegan-friendly establishments. I probably won't order the vegan chili mac again, though.
