TL;DR: Friendly people and solid work ruined by the fact that they don't communicate or complete the job once they're paid.
Urban Arbor solicited our business by canvassing the neighborhood when they were working at a near-by house. We agreed to the removal of a dying tree, cutting the ivy off of another tree and adding a root-block so it would stop pushing a fence over, pruning an orange tree, and general clean-up of the backyard bushes for about $3,000. All went well; they were friendly, clean and efficient. Part of the deal was that we would buy a new tree to replace the dying one they removed, and they would pick it up and plant it.
Well.
April 4: We told them to tree was ready to be picked up. They said they would pick it up and install it the next day. They do not, and do not communicate with us.
April 7: When prompted, they said they were delayed, and promise to pick up the tree. They do not, and do not communicate with us.
April 12: When prompted, they promise to pick up the tree. They do not, and do not communicate with us.
April 18: When prompted, they say, "We will get it done within this week." They do not, and do not communicate with us.
April 30: I finally lose my temper, and express my displeasure and frustration loudly. They block my number.
After almost a month, we gave up, hired another arborist to pick up and plant the tree (which they did without fuss).
At this point, I seriously doubt they're going to honor their promise to check on the tree they root-blocked, to make sure it stays healthy. They have our money -- why would they bother?
All told, I wish they'd never knocked on our door. They failed to live up to their promises, failed to proactively communicate, and have left us without any idea if a decades-old tree is in danger or not. They ruined 90% of a good job by making the last 10% miserable. read more
