This 2 hour tour to hop on and off for a couple of photos of me is perfect. You see all the sites in the comfort on sitting on your butt. If your hoomin wants to spend time looking at everything on display, then this isn't for you. Your hoomin should rent a bike and just take his/her sweet time. This is perfect for my instagram. Juliana was our tour guide. She's a dog person. She let me sit in the front (where I had the best view). The sites were all outdoors so I could get off and just romp around. The guide talks throughout the tour, and shares the fun stories and the updates on the opening of the sites (you know, the pandemic is still here so only a couple of places are slowly opening up). On a hot day in DC, this is the perfect activity (see the stuff and don't have to get sweaty). I LOVE wind blowing on my face. I'd just stick my tongue out and eat it all. All you can eat wind! I thought I would take the time to share about the experience my wife and I had. We last minute decided to book this tour around DC this last weekend. When we went to book online we had issues but called the number for assistance. The gentlemen we spoke with was SUPER helpful, patient and friendly! We met at the designated site and the drivers were all on time. Joel, our guide was phenomenal. I wish I could remember his name but I do remember he was Portuguese and said his name was Joel. He was extremely informative on so many facts about DC and the United States. He was also hilarious. He kept the tour very interesting by discussing so many details about all the monuments. It wasn't overwhelming where you couldn't enjoy the time either. I also didn't feel that he put any pressure on anyone as far as making it back on time. We ran a little late and he was so graceful about it. This is the one thing in DC we will definitely do again. Thanks Joel for making this experience fun and enjoyable! read more

Unfortunately we didn't get to have much of an experience. My 13 yr old son and I arrived to the mtg spot yesterday 10/10@ 1:50pm and were told we would have to be in separate cars. I will give credit to the male guide for trying to hustle us in quickly while he passive aggressively informed us that the carts would be in tandem so being split up would be no big deal. My son is extremely shy and we were looking forward to spending quality time together on the tour that we paid almost $150 for. In my book, that was not acceptable especially without any forewarning that being split from my family member, no less a young teen ,may be the case. On top of the fact that every other person there were seated with their party. He said he would issue me a refund and it should go back in 2-5 business days. And then to put insult to injury asked my son if he was going to cry as we parted ways. How the heck is that an appropriate thing to say given that this was completely not his fault. Cancelling the tour we looked forward to for weeks was already disappointing enough but to make a remark like that instead of simply apologizing was insulting. Please retrain your guides in customer service and appropriate communication. This was not it. 1 week later, I received an email this morning saying they are not able to issue me a refund even after their own tour guide told me he would. THIS IS NO BETTER THAN A SCAM who doesn't care about people. What a joke and huge con artists. read more

We had a blast on this tour. At first we were a little let down due to our car. The pictures show the red vehicle that was more open- but they did have 3 boxed vehicles (which we were in). It's a good thing we wore multiple layered clothing to keep warm, for it got really chilly traveling in an open vehicle as the night progressed. The monuments looked more intriguing at night! We especially liked the new MLK monument: the lights/shadows made the carving come to life. Piotr, our knowledgeable guide, had a good sense of humor and spoke authoritatively evidencing great subject matter expertise. He regaled us with an amazing wealth of factoid and stories on the monuments. His witty and entertaining commentaries greatly enhanced our enjoyment of the tour which ran well over two hours, ending past 1020 pm. The rendezvous point outside the Department of Agriculture building next to the Smithsonian station was well-chosen for it allowed us to safely and quickly access the Metro to return to our hotel at such late hour. read more

Urban Adventures was recommended by our hotel staff. Mike was our driver and he was FANTASTIC! We took the "history 101" tour and could never have seen a portion of what Mike had shown us, had we been on our own. We were able to see sites on narrow historic streets; UA has 6-seat electric golf cart type vehicles. Other tour busses and trolleys simply can't maneuver those parts of the city! Mike was personable, friendly and knew so much! I have a masters in history and I was fully impressed with his wealth of knowledge and interesting anecdotes. The price of our tour was so affordable as so worth every penny! The only thing left to do was to grab lunch and talk about all the sites Mike had shown us - and no tired feet! read more

I can't think of a better way to have started our D.C. holiday than with this evening Urban Adventures electric car tour of D.C. Monuments. A light rain had given the tour route an electric, reflective glow, second only to the personality of our tour guide, William. William was as enthusiastic about the city as he was knowledgeable, and provided information and insight that added an unexpected richness to the experience. A thirteen year resident of the city, he provided welcome context and meaning to the monuments, public art, museums, and "culture" of the District. We came away feeling like we understood D.C. a little better. If other tour guides with the D.C. Urban Adventures group are half as capable as William, you will have a great experience. The tour itself is spectacular. All the monuments and museums in the National Mall area are amazing and moving, but by night the experience is all the more powerful. Whether as a warm up to your visit in The District, or as a final chapter of your stay, the evening tour is a must. read more

Buyer beware! Bought a monument tour for our family of four. We were confirmed and received an email with a meeting time and place. It was pricey but a gift for my husband who loves history. We showed up early and waited well after the meetup time. No one showed. When I emailed our travel company (who I had booked through) for a refund, I started getting the runaround. Our travel company was AAA (booked months in advance of our trip). They used a vendor called Viatour who evidently booked Urban Adventures who did not show. It's all feeling a bit like something out of a Kafka novel. I've been emailing back and forth with the travel companies for weeks with no refund. It's very frustrating. It was supposed to be a fun gift but now has been an irritating time suck. I wish someone had warned us, so putting it out there in case it helps someone else. read more

We took the moonlight monument tour and booked through Viator. The tour began at 8pm so that is when our group arrived. I would recommend arriving 15 minutes ahead of time in order to be able to sit with your party (we had a group of 4) and they wanted to split us up between two cars. I argued with the manager and they squeezed us onto one car. It says on their website that they travel together (so if you're separated it shouldn't be a big deal) but that's not the case. I don't know where to start. The guide was not trained properly... he didn't tell us what we were looking at. He drove past many buildings with out a peep( National gallery of art, the Bureau of engraving and printing, holucost museum, WWI memorial, John Paul Jones... the lock keepers house...ugh... not good. Not trained properly for such an expensive ride. Next time I'll take the FREE mall circular, a free but provided by DC Metro. Don't waste your money. read more

chris was our tour guide this week and all we can say is that it was the best part of the trip, and frankly when we come back we plan on using them again as he was very knowledgeable (history teacher), very personable and fun (our 5yo son and soon to be 8yo daughter had a blast). i found dc frankly overwhelming as there are LOTS of places to see, and he gave us not only an a fun and educational tour, but also some tips for going to see some of the major spots. We took 2 kids and 2 adults on an electric car tour this week. It was supposed to be our fun, informational "splurge" for the week -- but it was beyond awful. The cars have three rows, separated by plastic (likely for covid precautions) -- so they give you a radio with a single ear piece to listen to the tour guide. The radios never worked for us the entire trip -- just full of static and feedback. So we couldn't hear anything he said. The driver was unapologetic and didn't do anything to try to fix the issue despite us mentioning it several times. From what we could hear -- The guide spent more time joking about how he avoided classes in college than telling us about history/monuments. They drop you off at the monuments snd let you walk around without any context or description about what we were seeing. Huge disappointment. read more

Very happy with this tour. Booked it because it was going to be a hot day and we wanted to see the major attractions in DC without too much walking. Our tour guide was Sam and he was great. He was knowledgeable and friendly throughout the tour and gave us enough time to go and see the Lincoln Memorial and a few other memorials. I took my family to DC the end of June. I wanted to do a nighttime tour the monuments and thought this one looked fun and I REARRANGED OUR ENTIRE SCHEDULE because only one night was available to book. After a very long day, we were excited to be able to sit and visit the monuments on a nice tour. Nope! We took an Uber to our tour meeting place showed up 15 min before our tour time and they told us they wouldn't have room for us because one the drivers had COVID. They said that other groups showed up before us, so were were the ones out of luck. But wait, there's more! We counted the available seats and there was space for us if they allowed one to sit next to the driver, which they wouldn't do (there are no COVID restrictions or mask mandates anymore). I slightly smaller group showed up after us, and they were allowed on the tour. The company could have called us when they knew there weren't enough drivers and saved us from rushing and paying for an Uber, but nope! They didn't call us even thought they knew in advance that they wouldn't have enough room. Does that even make sense?! The company did NOTHING to make up for it. All we got was an insincere apology, even when I explained that this was unacceptable and expressed my frustration. We were exhausted and now had to rent bikes and scooters when we didn't feel up to it if we wanted to see the sites. I wish I would have booked with someone more reliable or someone willing to try to make accommodations. I just hate companies that don't take customer service seriously. I could have booked with someone else and had a great tour elsewhere if I knew this company was going to be so flaky or if they could at least give us a little heads up. So frustrating! I would save yourself from potential frustration by booking with someone else from the start. read more

We had a great tour this morning with Annifreed. My husband and I were the only two on the tour and it was the perfect combo of walking and eating. We had been on other food tours in different parts of the world and I always think it's a good way to sample local culture. It's a really funky part of town and I wouldn't have expected so many good places to eat in a small area. We had bagel bites stuffed with sweetened cream cheese, fabulous interesting coffee/iced tea, a chili dog from really famous historic shop, a fish taco, a taste of a pecan/chocolate pie with ice cream. And a taste of a craft beer. The portions were all really small except for the fish taco but I felt completely full and didnt eat breakfast or lunch. Annifreed was Ms. Personality and made our tour really fun. read more

Tentative touring!!!! Be prepared if you book a tour with this outfit. I booked and prepaid through Goldstar and came downtown on a Sunday morning for the H street food tour. When I noticed that we were the only guests 10 minutes prior to the scheduled tour, I asked a tour operator from another company if we were at the right location, and she confirmed that we were at the meeting spot for DC Urban Adventures. After more time had passed with no guide or other guests arriving, I called DC Urban Adventures. There was a person in the office that morning who told me that the tour was cancelled because the guide called in sick that morning. Personally, I find it suspicious that we were the only people that showed up for the tour anyway. DC Urban Adventures did not notify us or Goldstar, nor did they have a backup plan. This wasn't a tour that required a guide with a degree in rocket science. Surely a reputable company would have had a backup plan and other employees who could cover for an ill colleague. Certainly, in the modern world, they needed to have a system for notifying its customers. Although the representative was polite and apologetic on the telephone, she seemed rather nonchalant about not having a procedure in place for this type of situation other than refunding our money and offering to reschedule our tour on another day. There was no regard for the fact that we scheduled this well in advance, gave up other activities and got up early to be on time, while Urban Adventures DC couldn't be bothered to contact us or have a substitute guide. The attitude was "oh well.". I am happy the other tour operator had a reliable, knowledgeable employee near DC Urban Adventures' designated meeting area, otherwise, who knows how much time we would have wasted for NOTHING!!! DC Urban Adventures just doesn't seem to operate in a professional manner. Maybe some of their tours are good when they have a guide but personally I won't let them waste my time again! read more

Warning: do not book tours with this company. They are not reliable. We booked a tour and paid for it. But when we arrived at the designated meeting spot, no tour guide or other company representative was there. So we called the company. They then told us that the tour guide had called in sick so the tour was canceled. I guess they did not think it was important to notify us in advance of the cancellation! Also, what kind of tour company does not have a back up guide available?? They think it is an OK business practice to just blow off paying customers?? I had never visited D.C, so I decided to take a solo trip this weekend. I came across the Urban Adventures Sip Some Cocktails DC very last minute on Saturday and although the option to sign up online was closed (I assumed due to the tour being full), I reached out to Urban Adventures and they were quick to accommodate and add me to the tour. I'm so happy I decided to do this tour. It ended up feeling like a ladies night out, with the other tour attendees being female. Annifreed was our guide and she was awesome! She has such a contagious personality and made each Cocktail bar stop that much more fun than if I were to walk into any of them on my own. What I loved about this tour was that the three cocktail bars we went to, were none I would've come across online on my own. The other ladies in the group made the experience so enjoyable with their bright and quirky spirits, that we left all exchanging emails. Steve was great on the tour. He made it fun and had a lot of knowledge of the city. He made the most out of the two hours! We were able to get out at the Lincoln Memorial and the MLK Memorial to spend time there, but time was rushed in the other areas and we could not walk around due to security regulations of no stopping. Two hours was not enough time to get an antiquate amount of time at some of the more interesting locations. You can get great information on the tour, but plan on having to revisit most of the locations you see. Overall good experience! read more

We took the Georgetown tour. Our guides were wonderful.....but out of the seven stops, three were sweets and one was beer. The 2 savory stops were super small portions. Plus the order of stops were all wrong. We had to eat 2 cupcakes and a pastry and a beer before having actual food Ugggh. We had to stop at a restaurant and have lunch afterward. read more
