Steve, one of the owners, gave us a personal tasting, and while we're not usually white wine people, their dry whites and roses were outstanding (especially on a warm summer day). You truly can feel the passion the owners have for this place, and getting to play fetch with the wonderful winery dogs was a bonus. We will be looking out for this wine at every liquor store from now on!

Most breweries either neglect the sours and saisons entirely or only give minor seasonal tribute - Chrysalis specializes in sours and takes pride in the craft. From delicate to robust, there will be sours here to suit any sour-lover and that's pretty sweet.

I don't think they have any alcohol sold here, I didn't see any (I was looking for a beer to have with dinner) so bear that in mind if you're looking for that. But, since we didn't know what they were, I cannot recommend any :( However, they did have a "pink" wine called "the panty remover" that was the only memorable one. Parking here SUCKS!!! Just give up, park a block away and walk, it is SO worth it. When turning into this lot, you can't really tell if there are any spaces. Then, there is no where to turn around if you get it and can't find a space. This made for some Three Stooges style comedy trying to get 3+ cars to back out onto Pecos simultaneously. Not cool. It seems that every bottle I open has a floral undertone or aftertaste. I was initially excited that these guys offered a pinot noir since that's so rare here in Colorado, but theirs does nothing to curb a craving if you drink any other good pinots regularly. I wouldn't mind so much if these weren't as expensive, but all of the bottles I had were $28 and up. Even the reserve cabernet sauvignon didn't excite me upon opening at home. After drinking a bottle of '04 cab from Verso last night, there is just no comparison. I DO still love my wine bustier though :)

Upon entering, you're sure to be greeted with a warm hello and a friendly smile from whoever happens to be behind the counter. The Desperado sells snacks (candy, pretzels, jerky, etc.), a wide selection of cold drinks and beer, typical convenience store items, and a few novelties such as trucker hats. If you find yourself in Crawford, you'll most likely stop by the Desperado at least once, so be sure to take a picture next to the plastic dinosaur outside.
