a bowl of tortillas and dips

I have a high expectation in the place basing in other reviews. Sadly, I could only give 3 stars for the visit. It has a friendly and accommodating staff. The place has a local appeal and a family vibes. But sorry to say the food and drinks we tried lacks the magic I am looking for. I'd been to many taco / Mexican places and my standard has been leveled up a bit. For each visit, I am always looking for that local taste to satisfy my cravings. We sampled their tacos( fish, shrimp, beef) , empanadas and their margarita. It did not meet my expectations. I may be wrong or did not order their specialty. I need to come back and try their other selections. The free nacho is a plus by the way. Parking is a challenge unless you come on a later part of the day. There are available parking near the train station which is still a walk. Rear parking but not enough.

A staple of the Floral Park, this place does not disappoint! This is a lovely restaurant that has a nice, casual, almost beachy-esque vibe. It's a smaller place but definitely fills up quickly. Great for a casual taco Tuesday or Friday night happy hour that's extremely family friendly. The food is very good and the portion sizes and adequate. Everything is freshly prepared and well seasoned. Nothing on the menu is really spicy and as a "spicy food connoisseur", I wish more things were. You can add jalapeños but there is an up charge to that. It's about $1, so it's not even that bad. The service is great. Being it is a smaller place, the wait staff are attentive and both the food and drinks come out quickly. There are a handful of Mexican restaurants in east Nassau county, but this is one of the better ones.

Uptown taco is a gem. They have so many different tacos to choose from! My favorite is the Mexican cheese stake, it was very flavorful!! The drinks are also good, especially their spicy pineapple jalapeño marg. This place is great for lunch/dinner. The service was also 10/10. They also have outdoor seating in the back by the parking lot as well as indoor seating (bar & tables). Great vibes overall. Def recommend! 10/10 food 10/10 drinks 10/10 service 10/10 ambiance A must try!

Avocado fries ($10, delivery) - pricey but delicious

Overall a bit pricey but a good meal. Definitely go for the avocado fries. They're not cut like fries, but they're great bites. The dipping sauce is perfect for the snack. While I appreciate the opportunity to mix and match tacos, they were not incredible given the price. Maybe I just chose wrong. The Korean short ribs were my favorite, but you can definitely skip the Brussels. It had little flavor. My partner liked the short rib quesadilla, but I thought it could have used more filling inside. Lots of other things to try. I'll order again!

Very cute local taco joint with a full bar and on-site parking! The decor is beachy taco work both tables and booth, the service is good, and the food fresh and tasty. The cocktails are really good too. I had the Big Mick (waygu beef slider, American cheese, lettuce, pickles, onions, and uptown sauce) served on a flat bun pressed to be like a taco shell, and the mahi taco (blackened mahi, guac, and mango avocado salsa). My beverage was The People's Margarita (I asked for it w/o agave) - tart and pineapple flavored with just a hint of spice - deliciousz I'll definitely be back.

Wanted some good tacos to satisfy my cravings. Decided to try this place for the first time knowing there was a twist to their tacos! Taste The overall taste is okay and if wanting an authentic taco this is probably not the place to be looking. They throw a kick to their types of tacos and there are different kinds. The meat is on the drier side. Take out I ordered this order through UberEats and I asked for extra guac and for sauce on the side. They followed everything as instructed without a charge. Overall the food was very colorful and it was fun to try at least once!

I'm happy my fiancé chose this spot. He says he comes here often. I plan on returning. The staff were super nice and helpful. The place was cool - not too intimate just a cool taco spot with many to choose from. The drinks were on point!

I have never seen a place with such a HIGH RATING and REVIEW ratio it's almost a perfect 5 STARS! Anyways I came here for dinner with my cousin and his friends. They ordered quesadillas and tacos, that's what's it's all about right!? I had the Moscow Mule very good mix served in the beautiful bronze cup. My choice of 3 tacos were the Chicharrones, BBQ chicken and Mexican Cheesesteak. I liked them all, so much variety and different kinds of meats! The owner a tall guy was a gentle giant, so welcoming friendly conversation and explained the different heat levels in the sauces. I will come back here to try more on the menu! Great place, vibes and food!

Al Pastor burrito bowl and margarita

Had a hankering for some Mexican food after the long drive into Long Island from Buffalo, and found Uptown Taco through Yelp, and I must say I really enjoyed the experience. The inside seating arra and bar were all taken, but there were tables open outside... considering how hungry I was, I had no issue eating outside. Thursdays are 6 dollar margaritas, and the other party that was outside apparently each enjoyed quite a few to say the least... their boisterous conversation added some unexpected entertainment to my meal. The complimentary chips were really fresh and served with a very tasty salsa and a Mexican ranch type thing, which was very good as well. I ate these too quick to remember to take a picture. For my meal I had the Al Pastor Burrito Bowl, and the portion was huge, and the flavors of the meat, pico, lettuce, cheese, rice, and beans was extremely pleasing to the palate. I don't drink much, but as It's vacation, wound up having a margarita, which was perfectly mixed... not too weak, not too strong, and the salt rim on a Mason jar was fun and helped relax me from the road weariness.

All in all, delicious Mexican food with great portions and delicious flavors. We were seated outside, and the service wasn't great - it took a long time to have our order taken, water refills just weren't happening, and no one was really around for us to order another round of drinks when we wanted to. Five stars for the food, for sure, but the service prevents this rating from receiving a five star glowing endorsement.

Big Mac type taco and a fish taco of some sort

Gf took me to this spot over the weekend and I was hesitant because I'm very particular about who makes my tacos. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was and how nice and cozy the locale was. It almost has that hipster vibe to it or a millennial recruitment center but I found it really pleasant and most importantly...clean. Service was pretty good as well and everything came out in a timely fashion. Didn't have to wait long at all for the food and everything was hot. I had the Mexican cheesesteak taco which was really tasty and the nashville taco which had some heat to it, but really good. Will definitely comeback to try other items on the menu.

I've been to Uptown Taco a few times already for both lunch and dinner. Definitely enjoyed all my visits here. Service has always been great, and I've enjoyed all my meals. I can't say they're necessarily authentic Mexican tacos, but they are tasty. On my last visit, my husband and I shared the Al Pastor, the Chicharron, the Nashville Hot Chicken, the Korean Short Rib, and the Mexican Cheesesteak. All were tasty and fresh. My favorite was the Chicharron. The pork was very crispy. We also had a round of margaritas which had a nice kick to them! We ended our meals with some dessert ofcourse. We shared the Churro bites with chocolate dipping sauce. They were very yummy! This is definitely a great local spot in town to come check out, and is great for groups!

Everything was so good. We were greeted warmly as soon as we walked in. We sat at the bar and the bartender took great care of us. Come visit Uptown Taco, you won't be disappointed.

I tried the 3-taco combo with the mango lemonade and queso, and for $12 on Uber Eats (deal running through June 30), it's hard to beat. You can mix it up with fries, sweet corn, or queso plus a drink, which makes it feel like a steal given the portions and quality. The tacos themselves are solid, but the queso really steals the show--easily my favorite part of the meal. Everything is fresh, filling, and perfect for a quick post-work bite. Drink options are great too; while the mango lemonade was refreshing, the strawberry lemonade is definitely my top pick so far. Affordable, tasty, and convenient--Tony's is doing it right.

If you read my review of the Franklin Square store you'll see that I was blown away by the quality, freshness & flavors. Sadly that was not the case on this visit. Ordered ahead through the app, showed up about 2 minutes after the time they said it would be ready and was told they were just bagging it up - no big deal. This took about 5 more minutes but allowed me a window into what was going on as I waited. The young man behind the counter while seemingly attentive also didn't appear to care very much. I ordered a large watermelon juice and saw one sitting on the counter but wondered if it was mine as it appeared to be a small. The young man behind the counter must have realized this and grabbed it alongside a large cup. Unfortunately, his way of "correcting" this was to just dump more ice in the cup, not any juice on top of what was in the small. Now I'm already feeling a little cheated. Everything was bagged up & stapled shut before being handed over. Trusting that it was how it should be I carried the bag out and went on my way. Unfortunately I was foolish to do so - no straw, utensils or napkins to be found. Having to scrounge for a straw as well as a spoon for the street corn when I got back to work was incredibly frustrating. On to the food - here's the rundown: Street Corn - taste was there just like the last time but temperature wise it was way off. Why one store sends it out piping hot and another lukewarm is beyond me Funghi Quesadilla - I was such a fan of this from the FS store, perfectly cooked and still piping hot. Here at FP it came not so hot and the veggies inside nowhere near the level of caramelization I got the first time around. Felt phoned in Milanese Taco - good but not great. Balsamic was a nice touch, probably the best thing I got this time around. Shrimp Mango Taco - rice was ok but felt out of place. Shrimp were tasty but the mango was incredibly bland, probably underripe. Disappointing to say the least Cauliflower Explosion Taco - veggies underdone just like the quesadilla. Lots of potential if properly executed but this one fell flat Maybe they had an off day, I don't know. Either way it's pretty sad that I suddenly shifted from a top notch experience to mediocre and no need to come back. Maybe I'd try again but at this location I'd be incredibly hesitant. Worth the extra few miles drive to go back to FS honestly.

A cozy, smaller spot where you can see right into the kitchen where the food is being prepared, El Nopal of Floral Park does not skimp on flavor or portion size. Our waiter, God forgive me because I cannot remember his name, was a delightful, kind man who spoke very highly of his place of work when I complimented the food. I came here with a friend: he ordered 3 different tacos and absolutely cleared all of them, while I ordered the carne asada con camarones which came with pico de gallo, rice, and beans. I added a whole grilled/roasted jalapeño and I'm incredibly happy that I did. While pico de gallo might go unnoticed or sound run-of-the-mill, this batch was far from it - the vegetables were bright, fragrant, and fresh, wonderfully complimenting the rest of the food. Two heaping portions of whole well-seasoned, well-cooked carne asada topped with 3 delicious shrimps was the main attraction, with yellow rice placed on the same plate, hot and ready to be eaten. Refried beans were served in a separate ramekin and were also very flavorful. Additionally served with the entree is a cheese tortilla. While this volume of food may seem overwhelming to some, the dish was undoubtedly cohesive and I cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed every bite of it. At $21.80 + $1 for the jalapeño, this was an absolute deal. Can't wait to visit again!

While the outside says "Angelitos hotdogs", this is actually a Mexican food truck. The blackboard showing what specials are available showed "hoy tacos al pastor" So I took the recommendation and ordered two, along with a Carnitas taco as well. The Al Pastor was delicious and spicy with small slices of pineapple to give it a very balanced flavor. The Carnitas was salty and delicious and paired with just enough lime and cilantro to give it a full flavor. The burrito was absolutely monstrous. The lovely woman in the truck told me that the rice was still cooking so I would have to wait for my burrito, however, I told her I didn't want rice so she filled up the remaining space in the burrito with more meat and beans. This thing had to weigh at least a pound and a half. It was absolutely delicious. The meat was soft and tender and the beans were cooked perfectly, and there was just the right amount of cheese as not to overpower any of the other ingredients but yield a soft creamy texture. The staff are very friendly but a bit scattered. It's not enough to be completely bothered by it, just to make note. They seemed to be unfocused. We even ordered Jarritos and had to remind them during our meal. Appetizers: We ordered guacamole since they make it to order and it was soooo good. Probably the best part of the meal. The chips and salsa that they give for the table were pretty good too. LOVE the smokiness of the salsa. My date ordered three separate tacos: fish, al pastor and I think chorizo. He said they were okay, nothing that really stood out to him but he did finish it. They're filling though so three was a good amount for him and he can eat up to 5 sometimes if the tacos are really good. I ordered Mole. Mole is a very difficult dish to get down. I've had really really good mole that's been stewed for hours, close to half a day. I even have the thick paste concentrate that friends have given me from Mexico as gifts cause I love Mole so much. Usually, the sauce is close to a gravy consistency, it's smokey from the chiles, not a strong heat, a hint of sweet from the chocolate, savory etc. The chicken should also be to a point where it's fork tender, you do not need much to take the meat off the bone. Tepache's mole was alright. The sauce was a little thinned out, leaned salty and made it hard for the other flavors to come through. The dish was also supposed to come with tortillas and I didn't realize till I put it in a to-go box that I wasn't given them. Twenty-five dollars for mole is a steal because it is a difficult and time consuming thing to make, but only if it's REALLY GOOD. And this one was just okay. Overall though I still want to come back and try out other menu items. I wouldn't suggest the Mole, but I am curious about other things.
