I tried Uptown Taco for take-out today and it wasn't the best experience. First, they missed an item in my order. I called the restaurant and the only option was to credit me for what was missing. I appreciated the credit but would have more so appreciated them sending me the missing item. Second, the empanadas we tried were very oily and salty. The meat flavor was good but i couldn't eat these again given how unhealthy they were. A baked option would be better. FInally, the tacos. The restaurant is named for tacos after all. The carne asada tacos were pretty good. 4 out of 5 stars. Fresh ingredients, good quality meat. But the taco shell of the gringo disintegrated before a bite was taken. They do have a lot of taco options so that's a plus if you plan to visit. Given the above I will stick to other local options when a taco craving hits. read more

Came in right when they opened for lunch. The staff there was there and was super knowledgeable about celiac/gluten sensitivity. Their family member has celiac so I already was comfortable eating here. Almost everything is or can be made gluten free. I tried the Buffalo chicken and Thai calamari tacos. I have a high expectation in the place basing in other reviews. Sadly, I could only give 3 stars for the visit. It has a friendly and accommodating staff. The place has a local appeal and a family vibes. But sorry to say the food and drinks we tried lacks the magic I am looking for. I'd been to many taco / Mexican places and my standard has been leveled up a bit. For each visit, I am always looking for that local taste to satisfy my cravings. We sampled their tacos( fish, shrimp, beef) , empanadas and their margarita. It did not meet my expectations. I may be wrong or did not order their specialty. I need to come back and try their other selections. The free nacho is a plus by the way. Parking is a challenge unless you come on a later part of the day. A staple of the Floral Park, this place does not disappoint! This is a lovely restaurant that has a nice, casual, almost beachy-esque vibe. It's a smaller place but definitely fills up quickly. Great for a casual taco Tuesday or Friday night happy hour that's extremely family friendly. The food is very good and the portion sizes and adequate. Everything is freshly prepared and well seasoned. Nothing on the menu is really spicy and as a "spicy food connoisseur", I wish more things were. You can add jalapeños but there is an up charge to that. It's about $1, so it's not even that bad. The service is great. Being it is a smaller place, the wait staff are attentive and both the food and drinks come out quickly. Uptown taco is a gem. They have so many different tacos to choose from! My favorite is the Mexican cheese stake, it was very flavorful!! The drinks are also good, especially their spicy pineapple jalapeño marg. This place is great for lunch/dinner. The service was also 10/10. We came here for lunch after a recommendation from a coworker. There was a fundraiser going on, and the place was loud. They had some tables open for the public but didn't have a server dedicated to that section, so getting anything including a refill and the check was nearly impossible. We got six different tacos (Thai calamari, mahi mahi, carne asada, chicharron & el pastor) and none of them really stood out flavor wise, including the Baja fish taco that was so solid as a rock that you couldn't even stick a fork in it or even chip a tooth on it. read more

Overall a bit pricey but a good meal. Definitely go for the avocado fries. They're not cut like fries, but they're great bites. The dipping sauce is perfect for the snack. While I appreciate the opportunity to mix and match tacos, they were not incredible given the price. Maybe I just chose wrong. The Korean short ribs were my favorite, but you can definitely skip the Brussels. It had little flavor. The cocktails are really good too. I had the Big Mick (waygu beef slider, American cheese, lettuce, pickles, onions, and uptown sauce) served on a flat bun pressed to be like a taco shell, and the mahi taco (blackened mahi, guac, and mango avocado salsa). Had a hankering for some Mexican food after the long drive into Long Island from Buffalo, and found Uptown Taco through Yelp, and I must say I really enjoyed the experience. The inside seating arra and bar were all taken, but there were tables open outside... considering how hungry I was, I had no issue eating outside. Thursdays are 6 dollar margaritas, and the other party that was outside apparently each enjoyed quite a few to say the least... their boisterous conversation added some unexpected entertainment to my meal. The complimentary chips were really fresh and served with a very tasty salsa and a Mexican ranch type thing, which was very good as well. I ate these too quick to remember to take a picture. For my meal I had the Al Pastor Burrito Bowl, and the portion was huge, and the flavors of the meat, pico, lettuce, cheese, rice, and beans was extremely pleasing to the palate. I don't drink much, but as It's vacation, wound up having a margarita, which was perfectly mixed... not too weak, not too strong, and the salt rim on a Mason jar was fun and helped relax me from the road weariness. read more

I have never seen a place with such a HIGH RATING and REVIEW ratio it's almost a perfect 5 STARS! Anyways I came here for dinner with my cousin and his friends. They ordered quesadillas and tacos, that's what's it's all about right!? I had the Moscow Mule very good mix served in the beautiful bronze cup. My choice of 3 tacos were the Chicharrones, BBQ chicken and Mexican Cheesesteak. I liked them all, so much variety and different kinds of meats! I've been to Uptown Taco a few times already for both lunch and dinner. Definitely enjoyed all my visits here. Service has always been great, and I've enjoyed all my meals. I can't say they're necessarily authentic Mexican tacos, but they are tasty. On my last visit, my husband and I shared the Al Pastor, the Chicharron, the Nashville Hot Chicken, the Korean Short Rib, and the Mexican Cheesesteak. All were tasty and fresh. My favorite was the Chicharron. The pork was very crispy. We also had a round of margaritas which had a nice kick to them! We ended our meals with some dessert ofcourse. Gf took me to this spot over the weekend and I was hesitant because I'm very particular about who makes my tacos. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was and how nice and cozy the locale was. It almost has that hipster vibe to it or a millennial recruitment center but I found it really pleasant and most importantly...clean. Service was pretty good as well and everything came out in a timely fashion. Didn't have to wait long at all for the food and everything was hot. I had the Mexican cheesesteak taco which was really tasty and the nashville taco which had some heat to it, but really good. Will definitely comeback to try other items on the menu. read more

Celebrated Cinco De Mayo here and the place was SUPER PACKED! We had to wait about 45 minutes for our reservation but that's alright. The food was really delicious our server was extremely polite and so attentive I really wish I asked for his name I regretted not doing so. I would've given this place 4 stars but we were seated outside it was really cold we had a couple with us who had a 4 month old baby and we asked if we could be accommodated inside but the space is small and we were a party of 8 and they said putting two tables together on such a busy day is kinda impossible so we sucked it up and sat outside. There was no lighting outside we had to use our phones to look at the menu and each other they were having some technical difficulties that night they apologized many times for it. It's a great and cool hangout to grab a bite and drinks! We were seated within ten minutes and there were plastic barriers in between tables. The music is a little loud and that's okay, it made me feel somehow of the times pre-Covid. The vibe is chill and the staff were friendly, always checking up on us if we need anything. Chips were served after taking our order and I enjoyed it. Though everyone loved the fried avocado, I'm afraid I wasn't a fan. I loved the margarita though. It wasn't too sweet and yet it packed a punch. All the tacos we got were enjoyable. The Big Mic is basically a burger in a half bun, folded like a taco, it was pretty good. New Favorite taco place! I didn't get the luxury of visiting because the Mr went and picked up the food tonight, but I did get to enjoy the fun part! Lol! I asked him about it, he said they had diners and the place was really nice! So I am looking forward to dining in soon! All I know is, that EVERY time I eat here I will likely get that Thai Calamari taco... normally I eat all of my tacos at once alternating between bites.. but I took a bite of that one first and sat it to the side to enjoy it last ha! It was so good! I might order a couple more for lunch tomorrow! Definitely try that one! The shrimp one was really good too! They use jumbo sized shrimp so you get lots of "meat." I wasn't sure what to expect from the avocado fries but they were delish too! I might try to make them... I know it can't be easy! But they were so good! And the sauce they send with them is so good! It's a zesty aioli sauce from the taste of it! A little kick but so good! My mom in law had a cheese quesadilla and she even said "I don't know what they did but that's the best quesadilla I've ever tasted." The Mr also agrees that this is our new taco spot he really enjoyed the Carne asada and the Gringo! This is the first time my 5 year old didn't have left overs from a restaurant quesadilla! NACHO YOUR USUAL TACOS! I been coming here for 2 years. I celebrated my birthday here and multiple business meetings. My wife and I just came here today and we enjoyed their new street corn addition. She ordered the delicious Baja, Thai taco and we had the vegan ceviche cauliflower. I ordered my usual fave tostones and rice and beans. Inflation affected them but they still managed to give great quality food and not raise the prices up too high. I am also impressed by their staff and there great professionalism. Today my wife forgot her phone because of the high quality drink she ordered LOL The Tulip Paloma! She loved it so much she forgot her phone but one of the teamsters ran in the parking lot and was looking for us. After comparing my opinion about Uptown Taco with that of other Yelpers, I'm not sure if my recent take-out experience was just an off one or not. A group of friends and I ordered take-out from Uptown Taco a few weeks ago and shared a bunch of things including the chips & guac, Korean short rib tacos, and a few quesadillas. Our highlight of the meal was the Korean short rib tacos. The meat was packed with flavor and tasted amazing for the first couple of bites. However, it soon became clear that everything was a little bit TOO flavorful, to the point that it became way too salty. It was tough to finish our food because we were all so thirsty halfway through. I'm hoping that this was an isolated incident and I'm eager to give this spot a second chance. read more

I came across this place as I was waiting to do something in the area. The bartender was really nice and gave me some recommendations since it was my first time. She made me a margarita with casa which was really good. I tried the stuffed sweet plantain appetizer which was enough to fill me, but I wanted to try a taco as well. I am not a huge fan of sweet plantain so I only ate one side. The stuffing was very flavorful and paired with the plantain it was the perfect sweet and salty combination.
