I really haven't found a place quite like Uptown Pilates on the Eastside. I've taken Pilates for years and in several cities, and have never found a studio I feel quite so at home in. First off, the instruction is first rate, and they teach real, classical Pilates. I don't think there is a teacher on staff that is any less than amazing. I always get worked, and they're also awesome at working with or around injuries as well. I'm a dancer, which means something always hurts; I'm always working through something, and the gals at Uptown Pilates always seem to know what to do with me!
Second, they're all just so downright friendly! I walk into the studio, and about five people look up, smile at me, and ask how I am. I mean, this is front desk people, instructors, and clients alike. Its such a unique environment where people can't really help but be happy with their experience. Or at least that's how I feel. It also helps that its a small studio, so you get to know everyone pretty quickly. I've made quite a few friends here.
Oh, and fyi, its really well-run. They're so good about keeping on top of everything. I know my schedule gets a little crazy sometimes, and I've thrown some curveballs at the girls at the front desk, but they're always great about working with me and my busy, busy life. They're also awesome about calling the night before an appointment. Which is great, because sometimes I forget what I schedule! They've saved me on a couple of occasions. (Embarrassing, I know.) I also hear you can book online, which is not really my thing. I like booking with a real person. But if that's what you like to do, I'm pretty sure they've got that option. read more
