I've come multiple occasions to consign clothing, almost all of which no issues. However today I witnessed one woman proclaiming loudly she was "over it" and not happy. And of course this is the woman I get to go through my clothing. I watched as she flung, yes literally flung as if it was disgusting, my clothing and left everything, but two pieces, in a pile of mess. I have never experienced such customer service. And having worked in retail over 5 years my clothing is constantly up to date. If she didn't want to accept it great. But no need to act like it's disgusting & a waste of your time....if ur so over it maybe you should leave. Guess it's luck of the draw to whom gets to sort your clothes. read more

I have been consigning here for over a year. While yes I have sold a good amount of things, the percentage you get as a seller is not a lot At All. My big complaint are the teenage girls who take your items from you. They are rude and snotty. I have had maybe 2 or 3 experiences where the girl that helped me was nice and friendly. That is a big reason why I have stopped bringing items there. They will say that the item of clothing is "out of style" or " warn " and wont accept it, when every time I could easily within reach go pull something off the rack that fell into those categories. I have picked clothes off the racks with stains and shoes that had major scuffing and at times dirt on the heels. Now obviously if you go there to "shop" then you understand these are normally used items, which is fine. Its part of the process. But to constantly have items turned away because of a teenage girl saying something is " warn " or " just not something we take", and with an attitude, not very customer friendly. I have had friends who have stopped going to this location for the exact same reason. The ONE time a manager took in my consignment, she took almost everything I had and was very friendly. Maybe time to re-evaluate staff and who takes items in, and go over things that are accepted and not. read more

I'm a big thrift/consignment shopper, and I really like finding a good deal. First off, let me say that my 4/5 stars is based on what I find there, as I don't consign clothes with them--just shop! It's a cramped little store in a plaza with a pretty heinous parking lot. The employees are mostly teenage girls who are not at all friendly or helpful, and I seldom see a manager around...just the kiddos! But if you like scrounging through racks (think Goodwill, because that's pretty much what it looks like) you'll have a good shopping experience where no one pesters you every 5 minutes. Their selection is pretty broad and there really is something for everyone. I typically shop there for clothes as their accessory and household sections are a little lacking. That said, you can find some nice gems squished in the racks and many items are already marked half price. I walked out last week with a like-new Talbots button down, a J. Crew sweater, and a brand new Land's End sweater for around $30. If you know brands, you'll see how that's a bargain. Not everything is a new style, a great brand, or in the best shape, but if you have the patience to look, you'll like what you find. Avoid this place like the plague on the weekends though, it's a nightmare when it's crowded! read more

I've been consigning here for years but the last year and a half so or I've noticed that I'm hardly getting any money for items that I'm dropping off to consign. I used to get $5+ for items but now I'm only getting $1-$3 per item. I'm not sure what they are doing but after the last bit of clothes sell, I'm donating the rest and will claim on my tax return next year, at least I will get more money back doing that. Not worth my time anymore. read more

I dropped off brand new golf clothes to them. Paid 45 per golf skirt. Last year and the. Lost a ton of weight. I received 3.80 for each of them. Simply not worth it. In the future I will find someone to give them to. I was shocked how little I got for the number of things that still had tags on them. There are organizations that help people obtain clothes for work etc for free. I will go that route in the future. This isn't worth the ride over there to drop them off. read more

Horrible staff. I've been going there for the past few years since the first time I was there the prices were good, the staff was good, and the items for sale were good. Know they've had changes. The staff is so aggressive. They don't even allow people to negotiate even when items are in not such of a great condition. The email group that sends you the coupons, is just a bunch of spam. It's just an advertisement. I came there just to use those coupons that I got via email, but there weren't even any items in the store that I could use the coupons for. Don't fall for their "cheap" ways of advertising. It's just a bunch of baloney. I've been to many thrift stores. This out of all of them has been on the lower side of the meter read more

South Windsor Location. I love this store! The staff is efficient and friendly. When items are brought in to consign, I find the help to be fair and expedient! A good sign of a store is foot traffic. This store seems to have a good deal of it. Selection is plentiful and varied. The store also does a very good job of promoting items pertaining to various themed holidays . I have been to other consignment shops, this one rates very high! John G. read more

Not worth it! Very unprofessional staff. They are argumentative in front of other clients. You get pennies on the dollar for your items. They get to keep the item after 30 days. Will not work with you. I rather donate my items to Good Will . There are other consignment stores in the area read more

I have to agree with the other negative reviews. 1st off the people that work there are down right rude. I have yet to have a pleasant experience. I have gone back a couple of times thinking it would change, however it has not. I really hope the owner of Uptown Consignment reads these reviews and will try to correct this problem. I know I won't be going back anytime soon and definitely won't be recommending this place. read more

I have been a customer of the southington store for quite a while now well I should say up until today....I can not believe the way I was treated ! The girl was soooo rude! Before I could say anything I was told that they only take 50 or less items a day and she checked my acct and had told me that I was there before this policy went into place and that I already knew this....I did not know because I had never brought in 50+ items. Didn't realize that they have x-ray vision and could count through the bag but the funny thing was I had only 38 items. It was convenient yes but that's pretty much it. Oh well.... I was referred to consignment originals in cheshire so that is where I will shop and consign at! :) read more

I usually have a good experience with Uptown Consignment in Southington. This month they are taking prom dresses so after bringing a few of my prom dresses to the cleaners i decided to bring them to uptown. They took one out of the 3 dresses i brought and claimed the other two were stained. I explained to the woman that they had just come from the dry cleaners and asked to see the "stains". she quickly showed me a random spot on the dresses and told me to have a nice day. I brought these dresses back to the dry cleaner to have them re done. I have only wore these dresses once each and explained to the dry cleaner that they weren't being accepted because of stains. Under a magnifying glass and light the cleaner looked for these "stains". there was absolutely nothing on these dresses. I proceeded to bring the dresses back just to have them denied again while right in front of me they accepted a prom dress that had huge deodorant stains on it. Out of curiosity i decided to look at the other gowns. I found 3 with stains and one had wrinkles and a rip. Why those dresses were acceptable and mine wasn't is beyond me. I have since brought these rejected dresses to the rocky hill store where they were accepted. i Give Southington 1 star for there ridiculous costumer service. read more
