Would never consign here again. I brought in name brand, like new clothing and purses- only to be "supposedly" priced at rock bottom prices and to receive shockingly low commissions. A $350 Michael Kors Boutique Satchel which sold right away for $24.99 and my payout was $14.99! A Madewell utility jacket, which sold right away and I made $9.88! Are you kidding me? Something seems disturbingly off here to me. There is no way this makes sense and I am not the only reviewer saying this, read the reviews for yourself. I would think twice before entrusting my items to this consignment. You might be shocked and upset at your payouts, like I am/was. AND to add insult to injury, the employees are not pleasant to deal with. I agree with so many other reviewers that the staff here is rude and condescending. Brought approx 20 beautiful, clean, perfect and up to date pieces (only 1 to 2 years old) for consignment, and some little 22 year old in a sloppy sweatshirt and out of fashion jeans was trying to tell me that 16 of the pieces were "not in style" and "outdated." I felt like saying "look at your own clothes, lady." Nothing I could see made her a fashion expert of what's in style and what isn't. Not to be trusted. They took a size 1X genuine leather jacket and told me I had to log in when I got home to find out what they would be selling it for. A couple days later, It finally got listed for $20. I called immediately to say that was a very low price. They told me it was not genuine letter. I insisted that it was and told them. I had pictures of the label, i was going to also try selling it in marketplace but then thought if there first. They said if you don't like the price come and get it. They refused to take itvoff the shelf for me, even though they labeled it incorrectly. it sold without ever being seen on the shelf by anyone who went to get it for me in less than 24 read more

Read their policies carefully! They inspected and accepted an expensive purse to sell. When I called to see if it sold I was told they supposedly found damage and I was told they donated the item without ever putting it on the floor to sell. No notes on what the damage was which I think is a questionable business practice. Also they never called me. I would have picked the purse back up. I like the store a lot, great merchandise and good prices and it deserves 5 stars. BUT I do have to add that the lady at the register needs to learn to do her job (she is a tall, thin, African American lady wearing glasses). It was not the first time that she could not extract a simple "Hello" out of her when I went to pay for my items but she also did not bother to give me a punch card for my purchases, which were very close to $100. Consignors BEWARE ! I have been going to this store for many years to drop off items. On several occasions I asked for a list of what did not sell so I could get the items to take to another consignment store. On four occasions I did not find an item that was on the list so I asked the manager, Amanda, for help in locating the item. I was told that store policy was if an item was under $25.00 no one would help me look for the missing items. The total of the 4 missing items is $85.00. I went to the store yesterday ,4/23/2024, and one item did not sell and I could not find it. I complained to the manager. This item was valued at $9.99 but it was my $9.99. It was no where in the store so I complained but I was told basically "too bad." I did find a necklace that was mine but was told it wasn't. This happened before 3 years ago when I found my son's Banana Republic pants on a rack while searching for items that did not sell. I even had a picture of the pants. I was told they belonged to someone else's account. It was quite suspicious to me that the pants and necklace had the same number B30. Also, I brought in 24 items and was only paid $27.56. I took back my items that I had just dropped off. I must add the woman at the front register needs an attitude adjustment. This store has questionable business practices. I feel like my items were stolen. I certainly do not recommend this business and will not be going back there again. read more

Have been going here for years and it's awesome. The staff friendliness waxes and wanes, but has overall improved recently. Always a great selection at very reasonable prices and the inventory is always changing. They also have some very generous sales. The consigning experience is consistently inconsistent , that's why only 4 stars. For example, I bought in a couple of items, and the owner told me to iron and return. No problem. When I went to re-consign, I was told it was out of date, and They did not accept. They also crumbled it up and threw it in a bag, not respecting the fact that it was ironed. read more

Incredible. Incredibly bad. I brought boots and running shoes (practically brand new), some suits and expensive golf slacks to be consigned. The Saucony running shoes netted me 2.40. The boots I happily picked up to donate to the poor. The suits were rejected because they had been tailored (what suit hasn't?), and one pair of the golf pants was rejected for the same reason. They're off the rack, expensive David Leadbetter golf pants. They're not tailored. Lo and behold, when I went to pick up my boots, I inquired about the pants that had been accepted. Gone! They discovered that they had been also tailored (not!!) So THEY GAVE THEM TO CHARITY without contacting me. I don't mind that they went to a good cause, but I SELECT to whom I give, not them. A few years back, I had a brief moment of clarity where I decided I just didn't like anything in my closet / I was laid-off / it was spring time. Combined, I realized (a) I had a severe case of wardrobe hoarding and (b) what to do with all of this? After a pointless visit to Plato's Closet, I ventured into Uptown and was relieved that they took EVERYTHING. Process is super easy, Uptown will accept items in style, like new, cleaned, pressed and on hangers (hangers will be returned to you). Shirts, sweaters, jeans, jackets, shoes, belts, ties, blazers, cardigans: they took everything I brought, and Uptown holds consignments for 60 days. The selling price is determined by their staff. "The consignor will receive 55% of the original selling price on popular labels and all items priced $75 or more and 40% of items originally priced less then $75." Basically, if you would buy it - they will sell it. Brand names do great here, and after years of several crazy, stupid, "what the hell was I thinking" phases I realized: I had kept everything from high school and college but most importantly, turns out all of my would-be donated items could be resold! SWEET Pat and her staff are great. Friendly, fast, and just really lovely people - I really enjoy my visits here. Aside from clothing, they also take in and sell household items, books, DVDs, jewelry - almost anything really. If you're strapped for cash, bring your things here - God knows they're not as strict or frustrating as Plato's. Better yet, if your items don't sell they will donated, or you can pick them up. read more

I've been an Uptown devotee for years but just recently decided to try my hand at consigning some items. I'm in the process of moving and needed desperately to clear out some clothes that don't fit (and I've given up trying to fit in 'em. Mehhhhhhhh). In the midst of my whirlwind workday, I ventured out to Uptown Consignment to drop off a carload of dresses and skirts. The process was speedy and simple, which was much appreciated. As Amy C mentioned in her review, they're picky about which clothes they accept (they didn't take most of my spring weather clothing, since we're getting into off season - makes sense) but they price the accepted articles and add them to the current inventory the same day. I love that they issued me a user account, where I'll be able to check my sales and account balance online. So seamless. Looking forward to making a few bucks here! Fingers crossed. read more

The first was a Sunday and a hand written note was taped on the door that they do not take consignment on Sunday. Come back the following Friday , 4 people standing there doing nothing. During a recent visit to the South Windsor location I had the pleasure of being checked out by a women Gerri. She was rude, was not willing to assist me with an item behind the register- that I mentioned several times prior to my check out. She threw my change and the pen for my signature once I asked to withdraw from my account. I felt like I was a burden by asking for assistance or even being in the store. It's clear Gerri is miserable and dislikes her job. This is not the first time this has happened, but it will be the last. The business has grown over the years. Loved this store for years for its clothes and helpful stuff. Unfortunately, upon my recent visit, the staff in the store were sitting around on furniture and constantly yelling. It was very distracting and ruined my time shopping. They were very rude and were blatantly on their phones taking photos and videos of each other. Love the clothes, but this time around I had a very rude staff experience (except my cashier who was lovely). The staff is friendly and willing to help you find something if you are overwhelmed by the sheer number of items, as I was. They even kept their store open 10 minutes later for me so I could finish trying my stuff on! Came here to find professional clothes for work and a purse for my sister for her bday, and left satisfied. My sister absolutely LOVES her purse and keeps getting compliments on it too! I have been consigning with Uptown consignment for years. Due to covid I was unable to go into the store for over a year. When I went in to pick up my commission for the cloths I dropped off and drop off new items I was told sorry we are not giving you your money of $167.00 it is now store credit. I was shocked "they changed their policy after a year they keep the money and you can only get a store credit NO EXCEPTIONS. I never received any email as they stated that Uptown changed their policy. I said it's Covid I couldn't make it in. The response I received was "we were open". So they sold my cloths made money on that plus kept my commission. I guess they are hurting they needed my $157.00 read more

I have been consigning at Uptown for a few years now. Overall, it has been a great experience. I suppose I could just bring all my clothes to Goodwill or attempt to sell them myself, but why would I do that when I paid a pretty penny for my clothes and Uptown does all the work! It is nice feeling to regularly clean out my closet and bring my gently used clothing to Uptown. I have brought in anything from old purses, boots to regular run of the mill shirts and sweaters. Once they accept your consignments (and they are picky), your items are priced and put on the floor that day. You can call the store to see how much money you have in your account or you can check your account status via an online account. It doesn't get any better than that! Once your clothes come off consignment you can go in and pick them up. The only pain about that is you have to search the store, but I suppose if you want your "unwanted" clothes so bad, that's what you have to do. Even though I mostly go to Uptown to consign, I often will peruse the aisles why I wait for the staff to inspect my items. It is very hit or miss and sometimes I am so overwhelmed by all of the clothes that I barely look, I have been pretty lucky during my past few trips. Brand new Michael Kors dress with tags on that fit me like a dream and I wore for my engagement pictures in Hawaii, new patent leather Juicy couture flats, a new JCrew coat in a dazzling shade of green that makes me wish it was winter! How all these items happened to be in my size and my exact style I will never know!! Also knowing I paid a small fraction of what these items are worth is another win in my mind! Bottom line this a great place to consign and shop!! The staff is very friendly and I will often chat it up with the manager while I am there. The only cons in my mind are that the store has SO many clothes that it can be very overwhelming and hard to find anything or even move around at times. Really good consignment shop in my hometown. The quality of merch here is midway between Savers and Clothes Mentor; a lot of things here don't have that "brand new" quality to them, but that's okay; they're still in good condition and cheaper. :) Came here to get work clothes, as my wardrobe consists of mostly hoodies, graphic tees, and jeans. I got 6 shirts/blouses, 4 pairs of slacks, and a shirt and hat for my sister all for about sixty something and change. Not bad at all! They sold me a counterfeit Burberry bucket hat! These people have no idea about high end items so don't trust them . I just grabbed the hat because my niece needed one but when I got it home it was covered with hair on the inside and the seams didn't match up . I guess they don't bother to look things over . I give 3 stars because I have had good finds. However, in South Windsor very disappointed as a consignor. I see very cheap generic brands there, yet they are super picky (always give you back items like it is a rule). My biggest gripe is they priced some of my good, quality, name brands way too low..many times. I see some of the same brands there, for way more $. I really feel like one of the girls, seems like a manager, always intakes, prices things super low. Or if she does it to certain people? I wonder if some of them do it and then go buy the items for themselves dirt cheap. Truly, total rip off on some consigned name brand items-handbags, kids sports clothing, etc. Treat consignors better. Taking less of a percentage, also would be nice. read more

I love this store. I only gave 4 stars because I wish they had a bigger plus size section! Everytime I go there (maybe 1 time a month), they have clearance items on the sidewalk at super low prices! I also follow them on social media, so the last time i went, they had an online promo for an extra 20% when you showed that ad at check out (even off clearance prices!). I wish I lived closer, but maybe i wouldnt be so lucky with as many great finds if I went more often. This is a great consignment store that offers not just clothes, but also books and household items. The prices are fair, but their sales are even better. We've stopped by each time that we're in town just to take a peak at the sales, and each time we leave with at least $30 in purchases. I went in a couple of times and was not impressed . I had some a couple leather coats that were in good shape. But because they were not like Coach or Wilson they didn't want them. The man working there was just an old grump. I am very disappointed with the Thrift shops in this area. I got two dress coats at Saver for lest than $20 .
