I was very unsatisfied with my experience. staff didn't greet or ask if i needed help... The person walked right pass me as i stood near the table. That should have been my warning to leave right there. Then the payment amount given for the number and quality of the items was a slap in my face. The items all had tags on them and I was given less than $4 for each item. It was clear they were worth 6 or 7 times more than what they gave me. That is ridiculous. Then you sell it for 3 or 4 times more than what you gave me! That's unbelievable. I had to ask a friend to pick my things up because I was so upset and then the staff couldn't even locate my containers She was there for more than 30 minutes picking up and waiting for them to find the containers. I will NEVER take anything else back to your establishment and I will tell my family and friends to do the same. I understand now why you say you can't take the items back....because with your pricing you would more than likely not have much in your store! I have never been so disgusted. I just don't know what else to say... but RUN! read more

I've been to uptown cheapskate twice and I promise you, this time was my last. As a customer success manager, in a time where we are truly in a recession and resale stores should be BOOMING due to people wanting to shop for less. I'd advise you to seek new staff. Not only was I not greeted either time I've entered the store, several months apart, the staff make you feel like it is a gift to be in their presence not the other way around. As a business that's a franchise I'm hoping management reviews these reviews, analyzes the feedback and makes improvements for the sake of their business. Loved my experience at Uptown. The staff was so welcoming. All of the merchandise was clearly marked, hanging in the right spots and something for all sizes! So many amazing brands at such decent prices. I would recommend shopping here if you are looking for new clothing. If you have clothes you are done wearing you should bring them here to sell. I experienced some nice employees on my first couple of experiences w/ my 17 yr old daughter finding this place last year. I was there sometime around new years and a tall kind of hefty woman who I never saw before wearing a U of Alabama of some kind of red jersey gave me a totally bizarre bate and switch about their sale and it was unbelievable. I was in there for an hour and a half selecting clothing. Upon checking out I was handed my receipt I did not receive the End of Yr Huge Clearance sale prices that was set forth. I politely described in detail what I was told and it clearly made sense if you were calling this a clearance sale. The Red shirted lady shouts across the store and I have not idea what is going on and there's muffled chatter and chaos...Not honoring the purported sale. I said I do not want all of this now that I did not receive the sale. I'll just take a few of the items. They would not let me do that. She said she could give me store credit for this huge amount of money she just transacted on my credit card. It was ridiculous and underhanded. I have worked in retail, had my own stores (1 in Manhattan & the other in Fl, ) been in wholesale design biz in Manhattan for along time. I was not treated like a valued customer at all and I will never step foot in there and more so because of how rude they were . I was "strong armed" to take this purchase where I was not getting any "deal" OR I was told I can have it on STORE CREDIT!!!! What the H did I spend and hour & a half just doing ??? I certainly was not going to hassle with a huge store credit and who knows what would happen the next time I came in to try to use it. *** If I had just walked in and bought 1 item w/ it's already discounted tag of 40% or 60% off and bought it I would have got a better deal on the item and paid less than this weird bate and switch where you had to buy 2 of each clearance item to get 20% off the lowest tkted price . That is ridiculous when the tag says it is going to be another 40, 60 or 30 whatever % off the marked price. THE energy in that store and trickiness is not worth any of their stuff. Weird operation and last year the Raleigh store had a lady manager or "bossy energy type" yelling at customers when we walked in so we were uncomfortable and left. read more

The customer service experience was not enjoyable. I dropped off items to sell and browsed the store, while awaiting their review. As I was walking around the store, I overheard two employees speaking negatively about an item I brought in ((Caucasian Women, 20s-30s, Tattoos, Brunette hair) and an (African American Women (20s, Medium Brown skin, Brown/Blonde hair pulled into high ponytail)). The item was a pair of Rhinestone Heels. Their inappropriate comments consisted of "who would buy those shoes" and "why would you want slinky heels". This type of behavior is unacceptable, unprofessional, and inexcusable. Let's just say they are lucky I took the high road and kept my comments to myself. Maybe not come to work in a sweatshirt/jacket, jeans, and have audacity to speak on someone else's sense of fashion. I'd give them ZERO STARS if it were an option. read more
