So I'll get it out of the way for you, I'm being a Karen to some of you people and I don't care. I…read moredon't consider asking people to do their job being a Karen, call me that if it makes you feel better.
So I went to the Red Barn, got my stuff, got in line and instead of putting my stuff in one of their own bags as he rang me up he just put the bag to the side. I kinda kept expecting that eventually he'd put my stuff in the bag but eventually had to ask as I was paying if he was going to do it & he said no.
I don't care I called him out, I calmly said, "that's pretty lazy," he kept saying he believed in me and that I could do it in a really patronizing tone and I said I shouldn't have to, it's not MY job, wether or not I can do it isn't the point. After I was done I tried asking why he didn't bag, I'm honestly curious if there was a new round of germ fear and he ran away to the back, he heard me, he looked at me as I asked & just said, "have a good day," and ran away to the back. Lucky for him there were no customers, so I waited. He only came back out when customers came in and he made a woman who only got one thing wait for about a minute just to avoid me. I waited in line as he rung her up and I asked again, he explained it's a choice they can make now and again, he was very patronizing, he said, "you're a big girl, you can do it. I had costumers to take care of and things that I had to catch up on." I said, "Alright, really lazy, but alright," and he responded, "I could say the same about you."
Funny thing about his excuse is that because I bagged myself instead of him bagging as he rung things up, the line moved slower. Forgetting that though, call me whatever you want, he was incredibly unprofessional, not just because of the bag thing but it doesn't matter if a customer is an asshole, you answer their questions, you don't run away to the back room and when your on the clock you don't call a costumer lazy. It's fine to think it and complain to someone later but on the clock to the costumer's face you don't call them lazy, end of story. There's so many people who deserve jobs more than that lazy patronizing lying asshat, I hope he quits or gets fired for laziness and one of them gets hired. We have to stop rewarding the lowest common denominator in society, it's why the service is 80% worse but they expect a 180% increase in tips. No.
