They were a little pricier compared to what I'm used to paying, but I figured it was fair because, we in Eugene do not have easy access to a lot of items that are found in our local chain grocery stores. I came across the produce section and was excited to find 2 bags of taro leaves (we call it luau leaves back home). The two packages they had, looked like it had smaller leaves than I preferred, but looked really fresh. I was planning on surprising my family by making palusami since I only had 2 bags and didn't have enough for make laulau. I had all of my ingredients laid out and ready. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when I opened the taro leaf packages and found that inside the nice and fresh leaf, were small, wilted, yellow, brown spotted, broken and ripped with holes taro leaves! These are basically the leaves that a grocery store should not be selling and instead, they decided to deceive their customer by wrapping those leaves with a nice, fresh one on the outside. I felt so disappointed in this store! I'm from the island, I know my taro leaves. If they did this purposely thinking other people will not notice, shame on the store. I know many have raved about the produce here, and I hope that this is a fluke. I will try again in a couple of weeks. If I get similar results, I will need to talk to the owner about getting a better vendor. Or i'll just order it from back home and pay that shipping charge.

It was like coming home as I used to frequent Sundance during my college days. It was so clean and the food was so fresh and hot or cold. Everything was so delicious and I will definitely be choosing Sundance over my usual Market of Choice default. I loved the variety and especially appreciated the clear labeling and all vegan options. This will now be my go to when I need a quick meal when in Eugene. The pricing is on par with MoC. I also love the compostable cutlery and friendly and efficient staff, not to mention the store itself and all the curated options.

This was one of my favorite stores in the middle of no where when you are young. Through out the years I have found myself back here just for the jerky, or a drink of water, or soda while on the back roads. The store is truly one of the neatest places, it still has old wooden flooring that really date the building. They have a room that has a pool table, and also probably one of the only places you can still rent DVD videos likes a video store. I sort of miss those days. They have a great selection of hot foods, and deli foods for your convenience. My favorite still being the jerky. I prefer the sweet. They have a variety of flavors. My 3 boys stop in once in a while when they go up to Mt. Baldy, or McGowan Creek. They are big fans of the jerky as well. The tradition is strong with this family. There is also I sign on the outside of the building, for anyone who rides road bikes. This is a good place to stop and rehydrate. I must also tell you how friendly the staff are. Great customer service. Something you do not see all to often. It is definitely worth a Sunday drive, or any day of the week drive.

Our visit ended up being one of the most memorable stops of the whole trip. This neighborhood grocery story store leans into South Asian food, but with all the usual American staples. Thankfully, inside that had a great selection of local and international beer so I bought a 6-pack for us to enjoy while we waited. There were also colorful characters enjoying food and drinks outside who talked with us at length. It was really pleasant to be able to wait comfortably.
