I paid in full upfront for a complete electrical upgrade and new window installation, which I now regret. I expected the project to follow the schedule in our signed contract, but it did not. It has now been over a year. Workers who were present early on became less present over time. The contractor states his crew was on site full‑time, but that did not match what I personally observed or what neighbors reported. Communication became inconsistent, deadlines were missed, and progress slowed significantly. Because of ongoing delays and work that licensed professionals later described as deficient, I ended the contract. The contractor says he was not given time to finish, but my documentation reflects many delays and reassurances over a 10‑month period. Independent inspectors and engineers identified issues with window installation, electrical work, and structural elements. Their written reports suggest that several items require revision to meet safety and code standards. This is particularly important to me, my family, and guests who will be staying there. It was onlly after termination that I received change orders. They were not accompanied by the detailed invoices I had been requesting for months. The contractor has still not provided supporting documentation, and it has been well over a year. In my opinion, and based on conversations with other professionals and their written reports, the amounts listed are extremely high, exaggerated and inconsistent with the work completed. A substantial amount of work remains unfinished or needs revision. I've attached communication and documents related to my experience so others can review the information directly and form their own conclusions. For clarity, the contract ended due to repeated delays, missed contractual deadlines, and work that inspectors and other licensed professionals documented as not meeting code requirements. These findings were especially concerning to me because my family and guests will be staying in the home. The contractor maintains he was not given time to finish. My records show many delays and reassurances throughout the project, and significant work remains incomplete. From my perspective, he was given multiple opportunities to complete the work that had been paid for in full 10 months ago, specifically the electrical upgrade and full window installation. I'm sharing my experience so others can make informed decisions. In my opinion, it's important to research contractors thoroughly, check references, and be cautious with large upfront payments.

Our house dates from 1949, as did the septic tank, a galvanized tin container about 6' in diameter,…read moreno leach field. As the tank had caved in recently, we no longer had a functioning system (which indeed backed into the house at Christmas time.) After we trenched out the old system and at least got liquids flowing, we sought out bids to replace. Not only did the whole system have to get rebuilt to code, but we also had to deal with shale rock inches below the lawn and a wooded area leading down the hillside for the site of the leach field. Given the scope of the project, the first contractor we spoke to was never heard from again. J&R Contracting, headed up the the father and son team of Rick and Rick, arrived 2 days after we called, sized up the project, gave us a realistic estimate given the challenges of the site (e.g. assume an extra day to jack hammer through the shale to create a pit.) We said, "Sure!" Rick took a deposit to pay for the construction of a low profile holding tank, said they'd be back to do the job when the tank was ready. Sure enough, 3 weeks later, the team showed up with two backhoes, a dozer, trucks to transport in sand and topsoil, and chainsaws. We mapped out an area for the tank and leach field, and then they got to work. Over three days a level area was created for the leach field after removing some scrub trees. Specimen trees were tagged and left alone. The big project was jack hammering out the pit, as deep as I am tall. The tank was lowered in, piping connected and soil smoothed over. As J&R already had all the equipment on site, we asked for two days of extra work to bring in ten loads of sand and topsoil to regrade the lawn, reshaping to direct rainfall and winter melt away from the house foundations. The final step in late April will be to distribute shade tolerant grass seed across the new lawn. The final bill matched the original estimate. The added time and materials for sculpting the lawn was, of course, extra. The results far exceeded our expectations.

The siding needs to be removed, dumped and reinstalled with brand new materials. The windows and the door are out of plumb. No flashing was installed anywhere . The window framing is missing from inside . We asked Dwaine to come up with some solution but he refused it. When we asked for reimbursement, he became verbally aggressive. When we reported Radical design and construction to BBB and Attorney General, he answered with lies and accusations without any proof . We don't recommend his service.
