All the convenience of owning a car for just a fraction of the price! I've used upshift for about a year now and I've had such a great experience. I often use their cars on weekends and they go out of their way to drop off the car the night before so I can get started with my day bright and early. I've also requested a car on last minute notice and Upshift was able to come through in less than 30m. I'm saving a ton of money by not owning a car, paying for parking, and having to worry about maintenance but still have the convenience of getting a car whenever I need it even on short notice.

I've been using Upshift for 7 months now and still impressed by the quality of renting service they provide. As far as I live in San Francisco, I decided to not have a personal car because I don't use it on weekdays and I hate looking for parking in my area. Actually, Upshift fulfills all my needs. I make a request in advance (1-2 days) and get a car at any time I need. I really appreciate self-pick-up service at my location - I just leave my building, send a text message when I'm near the car and it gets unlocked and ready to drive me wherever I choose. There wasn't a situation when a car was unavailable - even during the first 3 months of membership when a car was not guaranteed on the holidays, I got it. Upshift is about Toyota Prius. I don't need to get used to a new type of car since I get the same one all the time. Moreover, the park of cars is constantly improving. Recently, I've got Prius of the 2019 year and was the lucky one driving it the first time. A couple more things I'm really happy about. The support service is great. Response time is about 5 minutes in working hours. They addressed all questions instantly via text message or chat on the website. The cleanliness and equipment of cars are perfect. I haven't noticed any defects. On the contrary, I had a phone holder and cables, wipes and a full tank of gas in all the cars I drove. It's not even necessary to refuel a car when returning it! You will be charged for the gas later based on market price with no additional fee. Isn't it great? However, there is still some field for improvement. Concierge hours when a car can be picked up by them are from 8 am to 8 pm. I wish Upshift extended the working hours and I would be able to drop a car off on the streets with the constraints starting from 7 am. Also, I'm eager to see Upshift in Los Angeles. It would help me to take the one-way trip on Prius and therefore I wouldn't use other renting companies at all. It would be spectacular! I'm absolutely happy being a member of Upshift. It eliminates the need for having a personal car in such a pricy city as San Francisco. I'm 100% confident in the quality of service and the cars based on my experience. Thank you very much for such a great opportunity!

I went with a Toyota Corolla, which I drive personally. I like to stick with something I'm used to. It was about $250 for four days. I arrived right on schedule and the car was waiting for me. The gentleman behind the counter was super helpful and friendly. He walked me through everything I needed to know, even the details on tolls and stuff. The car was about two blocks from their office, but they explained how to get to it and even had a print out of a map to help get me there. It also had pictures so there was no way I was going to miss it. The car was a 2021 and in great condition and had a full tank of gas. Another positive of getting a Toyota is the gas mileage. I went to Sonora and back (roughly 275 miles) and I only had to refill once before I dropped it off... which was also super easy. I simply dropped it off where I picked it up and handed the valet the key. I would totally rent from here again if I find myself in the heart of San Francisco and in need of a ride for a few days.

Customer service was super clear and nice, got all the paperwork done when I arrived, and gave clear directions for pick up and drop off. Cars are located at a garage two blocks up from the office, so adjust accordingly if in a rush or carrying a lot of luggage. Drop off is super easy, just leave the keys with the parking attendant and you're done! My only small issue is that as a small local company, you might be in a bit of a bind if you need service or have an accident after hours and far out of the city.

A real greeting instead of the usual "wait over there and hope" routine most rental counters lean on. Nial at the front desk set the tone right away. He walked us through every coverage, upgrade, and option with total clarity, and the way he explained things actually made the process easier instead of overwhelming. No confusion. No rushed vibe. Just someone who knows the system and communicates it well. Jessica who walked us to the Ford Escape kept the same energy. Friendly, patient, and focused on making sure everything was squared away before we pulled out of the lot. You can tell the team here takes pride in doing things correctly. Pickup and return were both smooth. No weird surprises. They even gave us a moment to gather our things at drop off, which matters when you are juggling luggage and wedding clothes. Getting here note for travelers: The address is 1600 Mission, which is not located at the Sixteenth and Mission BART station. If you are coming from SFO, you will need the train, then the bus. If you skip the bus and try to walk from the station, it becomes a solid stretch. Entirely doable, just something to plan for. Overall, this spot is dialed in. Clear process, sharp staff, and no nonsense. I will keep coming back whenever I need a car in San Francisco.

They also took my $200 deposit, so I was already out a lot of money before I even realized what they did. When I went back in to talk to them, they admitted they made a huge mistake. They said they would credit me back over $300, plus give me a $50 credit for the trouble. They even told me the crazy gas charge -- $180 for gas -- was way too high and they would fix it. After all that, guess what? They only credited me $51. That's it. After promising me hundreds back. Then I called customer service hoping someone would fix it, and the lady on the phone was extremely rude. Didn't help, didn't care, nothing. Sixt is honestly one of the worst places I've ever rented from. I would tell anyone: RUN. Find ANY other rental company besides them. And to make things worse, when I first went there, the employees were trying to do shady stuff. They literally told my husband before that if he gave them an extra $50 on the side, they'd "hook him up" with a better car. That's fraud. That's the type of people they have working in there. This whole thing was a horrible experience. Waiting days for my money back, getting lied to, overcharged, and treated badly by customer service. Sixt is not honest, not professional, and not worth the headache. As soon as you see that orange Sixt sign, RUN in the other direction.

So I called before I went, the guy answered my phone sounds nice. And it was smooth when I picked up the car (around 5 min). Returning car was easy too (2 min). Worst car rental experience I've ever had...avoid this place at all costs…read more We waited over an hour for our car with no clear updates. When we politely asked the manager, Ishmael Turner, for an estimated wait time, he became hostile, told us we were "making it worse," and ordered us to leave the area. When I asked for his name, he first dismissed me, then after | asked again, he handed me a business card with someone else's name. I only got his real name from another staff member. While waiting, I witnessed another customer, an Asian woman, who had been there even longer, call someone to let them know she was not going to make it to the funeral because of the delay. When she asked Ishmael for his name, he refused and she took his photo, he then blocked her rental car so she couldn't leave and eventually called the police on her. When I tried to help her since she was crying, he told me to leave and threatened me with the same treatment if I didn't. This experience was chaotic, unprofessional, and honestly disturbing. If you speak up after a long wait, expect to be treated even worse. The whole process was disorganized from start to finish. I rarely leave reviews, but this felt important. Rent here only if you're okay with long delays, poor service, and being treated disrespectfully.
