Nice place. Good prices. I needed a lifting latch for a double swing gate and they had the piece I needed when The Home Depot, Menards and Lowes did not. And they had it at a low reasonable price. Theirs was half the price of the place I first inquired at. Be forewarned though, they just instituted a $25 minimum charge for credit card payments. If they hadn't let that slide for me, I wouldn't have purchased there. I think it's unreasonable to have such a minimum at such a small and specialized business that carries items under that minimum price. Overall though, very happy with the service. read more

My husband reached out to Upright Fence for a quote a few years ago. Our yard is oddly shaped and needs a fence that goes across our driveway. It took a couple of years to reach out again once we decided we do not need an automatic fence. With our recent outreach, we dealt with Avery via email and phone. It was easy to set up an appointment. Within a week Kevin came out to evaluate our yard and fencing options. We shared that we had a couple of requests which included using fencing we already have (given to us by a friend) and re-using fence (a house next door is being torn down with new fencing). We acknowledged that our request was weird and knew that Upright Fence may only want to use their own fencing material. My husband and I followed up a few times but the company ghosted us. Didn't reply back to our emails and never gave us a quote. We reached out to other companies for quotes too. They all told us that they wouldn't install material we already had. We would have appreciated the same response. If we can't use our material, we will purchase materials through the actual company. Unfortunately, this company can't close the loop on communication so now I question their ability to install fences too. There are many other companies on Yelp - family run business with better ratings too. Should have been a red flag with the 2 star rating from multiple individuals. read more

I would absolutely NOT recommend this company. The customer service is horrible. 4 years later and my wood fence is warped and nails are missing. Ken Kifull was the technician that came out & he never told me about cedar wood & gave me high pressured wood knowing that it warp faster. PLEASE USE A DIFFERENT COMPANY Being that it won't allow me to respond to Avery I'll put it here My neighbor has a dark colored wooden fence that's been there over 5 years and still look good, no warping Also he was never sent out to quote me for a gate fence & he also never went over the wood types with me. He marked everything up and gave me a price like I originally stated. Your wood may not be under warranty but it also shouldn't be looking like this in technically 3 years because June will make it the 4th year! I called to ask if they could install a fence that I already owned. Unfortunately the person that I talked to just said, No! When I asked why not ,she was abrupt and just said we can't. Called to request a quote on a fence and sent all the information. They indicated they were definitely interested in the project and would get back with me on an onsite inspection for the estimate. Weeks go by with no response to my emails for updates. In my business when you make a commitment to a customer you keep it, or let them know you've changed your mind and are no longer interested in the work so they can find someone else. I can't comment on the quality of their work because it never got to that point. But you have to be straight with potential customers, anything less than that is unprofessional. If I ever have to do another fence project I will go to another company for estimates and will advise anyone I talk to to do the same. For any business a reputation for dependability to the customer is absolutely essential-lose that and you're on the way out of business. read more

Poor customer service from Upright Fence Sorry for the long post, but I thought folks may be interested in my experience with Upright Fence... Recently had a fence installed by them. The actual fence itself looks really good - nice job. Unfortunately had a few other issues which lead me to absolutely NOT recommend this company. - they cut the electrical line out to my garage when they installed part of the fence. So couple of things about this. I did not think this would be an issue since there was already a fence there, but they must have made the holes much deeper to cut the line. They were also using electrical in the garage, so they must have known they did it but never told me. Called them when I discovered it, and the woman I talked to immediately - and I mean immediately - went into rudely reminding me that the contract stated that I should have known where all the electrical lines run. No empathy, no attempt to provide customer service at all - just a statement that they're not responsible and that was it. I don't know who told this woman that she suits being in role where she talks to customers, but she's absolutely not fit to be customer facing. Took an unfortunate situation and made it much worse! That was the major issue, but a few other things that annoyed me... - Spilled cement on one of our landscape lights. Didn't bother cleaning it when it happened and I had to replace it. - there's a gate in the fence, and the latch s really wonky. I'll need to fix it. - spilled cement on the lawn. We had to basically pickaxe it out. - the old fence had wire at the bottom that went into the ground (I had a couple of Beagles years ago when the fence was put in who were both escapologists so I had them do that. I assumed - as it was part of the old fence - that they would remove this, but no. Patches of it still there sticking up out of the ground that we had to remove. So there we have it. Nice job on the fence, but horrible customer service and you're totally left in no doubt that they couldn't care less about the customer once the check is written! Great customer service! After weeks of looking for a throw over loop latch- I was able to find exactly what I needed. I've been back 3x already- the owner was so incredibly helpful. He anticipated my needs for the project I'm working on at home and was happy to school me. There was a lot I was hoping to figure out as I went along but now I don't need to worry- I was informed of the materials I would need but also the methods of instillation to make the job easier! We bought railing and stair kits for our new stamped concrete porch. One box was open, and I double checked it contained the caps that the man loading it showed me were correct. It was a few weeks before we could have it installed and when the contractor went to install it, we discovered they had put the wrong size post into the box. When I bought it, I checked to make sure it was the correct color, all the pieces were included, and nothing was damaged. I didn't pull out a tape measure to verify it was the correct length. Since it was more than 7 days since we purchased it I'm out of luck. They've documented it in writing on the receipt that they won't correct their mistakes if you don't find it in the first 7 days. When Menards puts them out of business I'm sure they'll pout about the little guy getting squeezed out. It won't dawn on them that when they want their customers' to pay for their mistakes it's only a matter of time. So congrats, I bought another post. Enjoy the short-term victory. Upright does a great job with the fencing itself however the process of getting there needs improvement. On the day of our estimate we were given encouraging information regarding pricing and installation. We were told we would get a call within a day with our estimate. We waited over a week before we called asking for the estimate. Pricing was over our budget so we asked for some modifications to the fence to lower the cost. 2 weeks later we had to call to get the new estimate. Now we are waiting for the materials to come in and when we called today we were told it may be another 6 weeks. We realize there are current global supply and labor shortages however communication is key. We should not have had to call 3 times for information. The installers are a joke, their customer focus is a joke with understanding a customer's investment of their home. The managers are extremely unfriendly and disrespectful. Started working with this company for a full replacement of a fence back in May. From May 27th-September 29th I call 7 time in regards to insulation dates. I was rescheduled every time and told a further date but never given a reason. On September 29th I received my first call from the company stating that the document given to them in may were not filled out properly. It took 4 months for them to notice this. Very unorganized and unprofessional. On October 2nd I received another phone call stating that the owner is now pulling all current contracts and quote "because of an issue with another customer" all current contracts now need a state permit which will cost an extra $1,000. Note this is not required by the city I live in or the city they are based out of. Amber at the front desk has poor customer service, and is quite rude. I do not recommend having this place do any work for you. Go anywhere else. read more

We got the referral for Upright Fence from our neighbor across the street. We are so very happy with the new fence. A new fence makes a huge difference in curb appeal and backyard presentation. The whole team is professional, cordial, forthcoming, and honest. From Jim the estimator, to the front office, and the install crew. There is no sugar coating and they kept us in the know every step of the way. We got three other quotes from competitors with jaw dropping prices because we are Birmingham, MI residents. Upright Fence has the best price point with the same quality and an even better warranty as the competitors. They will negotiate and gave us a Veterans discount. The crew came in on a Friday to remove the old fencing and set the posts with concrete. The following Monday the team arrived with the pre-fab fence panels and the entire fence was hung within 2 hours. One challenge was that my lot has an unusual grade but the team lead has a great eye and the subtle curve in the fence is not noticeable from the curb or front of the house. The other, was a 2 week delay in starting the project due to permit processing and the constant rain. I am so grateful that the front office ensured that the city permit office allowed for the fence to have the good side facing our property. The delay was so worth it to have our fence the way we wanted it. They cleaned up all scrap materials, did not damage the landscape, and comp'd me the hauling away of the excess dirt (quote was $200). As added bonuses, they unknowingly left behind a shovel and leaf rake (I'll give them back if they call me...lol) and they installed a small portion of chain linked fence to fill a void in a next door neighbors fence that adjoined with our fence. I highly recommend giving Upright Fence a chance to quote your project and get at least three other quotes from the competitors. Upright might beat the others but be prepared to wait for the project as this company is in high demand and has a tight schedule. Very happy with Upright Fence. I had a small job, so small in fact that I was concerned it might be too small for them to do. I needed a new self-closing gate for an existing fence at a house that I recently moved into. The current gate would not close, and it was a safety issue because of my swimming pool. I called Upright Fence and spoke with a very nice person who promptly scheduled an estimate. The estimate happened the next day and the representative from Upright Fence showed up at my house on time and was very knowledgeable and professional. The price was great so I ordered the new gate. It took a couple of weeks for the new gate to be installed because it needed to be custom made to fit my specific dimensions. The company kept me informed at every step. Upright Fence just installed the new gate last Saturday, which surprised me since the gate was done faster than I anticipated and it was a weekend. The installation crew was professional and did a perfect job. And they cleaned up everything before they left. I have used Upright Fence several times over the years at different properties for a variety of different jobs, both large and small. Upright Fence has installed new fencing for me, repaired storm-damaged fencing on multiple occasions, and also provided maintenance. Each and every time, Upright Fence has done a great job for me. This has to be the worst Company I have ever dealt with. Their workers were great, it's the office workers that are screwed up. Put up the wrong fence, never pulled a permit. A one month job turned into a 3 month job. Filed for a permit but put In the wrong Info and had to refile. The person responsible for permits has no clue. The only person that seems to know what's going on is the receptionist. Ken Fuller was my representative, I asked numerous times for him to call me about the progress of the job but he would never call back. Very frustrating. After 3 months of nothing but head aches it finally got done. I thank the workers for such great work. Office people have no clue. read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced after my fence was installed. If I could leave a negative star I would too.

We had our house built in 2005 and shortly after moving in, we had our landscaping done and then had our 6 foot privacy vinyl fence installed. We had a couple of quotes and since they were both in the same ball park, we went with Upright Fence for no particular reason at that time. Now, 13 years later, our vinyl fence is still holding strong. I haven't had any issues except for a gate that needed to be adjusted many years after the initial installation. Gravity will eventually win that battle. I have had them back on 2 other occasions over the years; first to make one of my gates wider and then second, to extend my fence after I bought property behind me. I have seen other vinyl fences in my neighborhood come apart with the strong winds that we occasionally have; however, my fence has always stood up against these winds. Just as important to me-they were prompt with their work and returned phone calls. read more

I hate to give this company even one star - because that would imply they are worthy of at least one and they're NOT! I hired this company to replace four sections of privacy fence and a gate. The first day they were there they cut through my electrical going to my garage and told me that they were not responsible! They were supposed to show up the following Saturday and never showed up. They said they would be there "first thing in the morning" the Saturday after that and I had to end up calling them at 11:30 a.m. They said they didn't know what the mix-up was and would get over ASAP - which took about 45 minutes. I had to spend about $150 to get my electrical fixed. I left several messages for the owner, Kevin, and other people in the office with no response. They only called me back when they didn't receive their final payment. Because they say they're not responsible for cutting my electrical (well I sure as hell didn't cut it), he was only willing to credit my bill $75. Also, as with other reviewers, they trampled my landscaping, left a big pile of dirt in my driveway, cigarette butts in my side yard and didn't even take the time to put the down spouts back on my gutters. Nope - I will never use or recommend this company. I can't even believe they're still in business! read more
