Anchor Fence was recommended by a neighbor for a fence in my backyard. TL:DR - nice fence, high quality, good installation. 3 month job turned into a 12 month job, very poor attitude of people on the phone, lots of bait and switch and blamed all delays on "COVID" despite the job being quoted, time estimated, and paid 8 months into the pandemic. October 2020 - had Anchor fence out to provide a quote. Explained that I need the backyard fenced to keep my dog in and so I feel safe with my kids (then 4 and 3) being let outside to play. Got a quote that was lower than the competition. The owner warned me that due to COVID, the materials were on backorder from the factory and would take "12-14 weeks" before installation. No problem - these are troubling times. November 2020 - paid a 50% down payment and provided all the city lot maps and notarized permission for fence from both neighbors. Assuming 12-14 weeks, I would get my fence mid February 2021. Feb-April 2021 - Called five times. Materials still not in. Finally notified them I would ask for a refund on my 50% deposit if I didn't have a fence by the end of June and begin the process with another company. They told me "good luck" getting my deposit back, and bragged they had never lost a small claims court case yet - what a strange flex. Extremely rude on the phone. Was I angry in return? Yes, probably. May-July 2021 - More delays, eventually stopped answering my phone or returning my voice mails. October 2021 - They call me back and inform me that my materials are in, and to expect MISS DIG to come out. Great news! 11 months (47 weeks) after I paid my deposit. Late October 2021 - They come install my fence. Just the side pieces. Not the ~20 foot segments that connect this new fence to my house, and not the gate I had talked about with the owner. A fence that doesn't connect to my house is of zero value in keeping my dog in the yard or protecting my kids. They point out that it's my fault because the diagram was faulty and I selected the wrong option. This is possibly correct, but anyone with an ounce of common sense should have known this fence, as installed, has zero value to me. I have to get an emergency quote - which takes the total price above the competitors' quotes - to have the fence finished. Thankfully, they agree to do it before the snow flies. November 2021 - They come complete the fence. It is a very nice fence, and it has held up well thus far. It looks attractive, and the installation crews (both times) were very nice and polite. Thus the 2 stars instead of 1 star. This job ended up being "100% complete" (as in, I had the fence I asked for when they provided the quote) 1 year and 1 day after I paid my deposit. I missed an entire Spring, Summer, and Fall of being able to let my kids play in the yard and let the dog out without tying her up with a lead. Anchor installed our vinyl fence as they are really one of the only ones in the neighborhood. When we were originally quoted a timeline we were okay with the wait as understood it was summer time. We then got pushed back with holes and material in our backyard so my so was not able to play because they literally left everything. When they finally did show up after weeks of being put off the contractors were slightly more professional than the receptionist who is the worst at customer service. They then skipped a day because someone called off and did not let us know I had to call to find out the information. The fence finally gets installed and we find out they have ruined our sprinklers in the backyard. Which is insane because they were the ones who marked down where the system was with the plan of the house that they asked us for. Not only did they mess up the pipes and the system but instead of leaving it exposed so it could be fixed they poured concrete over it so three of the sprinklers in the backyard have concrete on them and we now have to have a new line installed. This was an epic fail and I will ensure all my neighbors are aware! read more

I used this company in the past and was pleased. I had them do multiple jobs for me at different locations. I had a need for their services again. I was appalled the way the receptionist handle the call. Right away after me telling her I used them in the past for multiple jobs she told me it's going to be a minimum $750 for any job. I'm a landlord and buy houses that need repair and already own others that will need repair. Apparently they don't care about repeat customers and building any type of relationship with them. Why would I pay double on a job just because they have a minimum? They should treat people that have given them repeat business much differently. I guess they are big time now and have so much money they can afford to lose customers. Seems silly to me. read more

Horrible experience. stay away. The owner is rude, lazy, and doesn't care at all about satisfying customers. We not only didn't get what we want, but they caused electrical damage that we have to figure out how to get fixed. They have been completely unhelpful with this. They are slow to get your job set up and then don't let you know when it will happen. They gave a a window of 6 weeks when they might start. And then they will show up randomly one day and start working without telling you. They started our job (installed the posts) one day and then we didnt see or hear anything from them for about a week until we called them to inquire about our electricity getting cut. We tried getting a hold of them sooner but looks like they just don't answer their phones sometimes (which in the middle of a job is a problem!!!) When we called the receptionist had no personality and was not kind at all. We still set up an appt. When she called to confirm our appt she was a little nicer. Positives of our experience was Bob the sales person was on time and it was nice that we got a same day estimate. I am glad I read the reviews, although I was not going to use them after my experience with the sales rep B. B behaved as though I was a problem to him his replies were short and cold. He opened the brochure and said "here is the cheapest fence." Then he proceeded to tell me "most business don't even come to Detroit they don't want to be bothered." He also informed me that because my job was so small I would be charged 20 -40 percent extra but he only charged me 25 percent extra. " i guess I should have been happy. So I like the option to reach out and communicate with various companies via Yelp and then to actually schedule a meeting or assessment. I did just that with Anchor and a few other fencing companies. They (Anchor) are soooooo busy it takes them two weeks just to come look at your property and measure. Google Earth maybe? And don't miss the call the day before to confirm because if you snooze you lose! So I reschedule and wait another several weeks for an assessment. They come. The representative had thee worst attitude as if I was so not worth his time. As he goes to measure the rather large property he doesn't go behind the garage because he says he can't get back there. Interesting the others did. So he's writing down and gives me minimal options. I know this because I'm already working with others. How can I not? And when I ask how am I going to get the quote he's like oh yeah write your email on here as he's almost ready to drive off. When I inquire about a start date he's like September. Needless to say I never received the quote. I'm glad they are super blessed with endless streams of revenue and business however, professionalism and courteousness go a long way as I am making recommendations and referrals. When the guy came out to take the measurements and write up an estimate he was very rude. He Rolled his eyes and huffed and puffed the whole time he was here. It was like I was inconveniencing him with my business. He refused to stay and write up the estimate. He didn't even bother to bring pictures or samples of the different options. Not pleased with the job at all.. the fence materials that were used are not that good sturdy gauge wire, the metal ties are falling off, the plastic privacy dividers slip down. Plus they're should have been more posts added closer together, and maybe even a bottom railing added since we have dogs, which was never suggested. Knowledge is power! Waited for a week and a half for an estimate which cost $75. The person on the phone quoted me an estimated price using measurements from a prior estimate I had; needless to say, when the guy came to give the estimate it was over by $1300. Their excuse was they don't estimate the connectors. Very expensive connectors! Should of known when I had to pay for an estimate. Shady company!! read more

The install took way longer than it should have coupled with poor communication from the company. They would show up randomly and then just leave after a few hours. During the install (which took several weeks) the unprofessional crew "relieved" themselves behind my shed instead of using a public toilet....who does that? They also missed many screws which I had to install myself. I would not recommend or use this company again. read more

Anchor Fence & Supply Co. was recommended to me by my brother; he had that company install a fence at his home in Dearborn about 8 or 9 years ago. His fence still looks fine and they were happy with it. I contacted Anchor and another company for bids on installing a 6 foot Vinyl fence at our home. Anchor Fence's bid was several hundred dollars lower then the other company and they included removal of a chain-link fence on our property at no charge. We selected Anchor for the job and they were very professional in their work. They also returned to my home to make some small corrections about a week after the fence was installed per my request. Dealing with them was painless and several neighbors and friends have given us positive comments on our new fence. read more

Stay away from this fence company at all costs! We bought a house that already had a fence installed by Anchor and have had nothing but issues with the fence since we bought the house. The minimum service charge is $750 for repairs even if it is just to reseat a pole! I can't even begin to explain how frustrating it is to have one section that needs work and no company that wants to touch it (since it isn't their fence). The job would most likely take a qualified person 30-45 minutes to fix but again Anchor won't come out without charging $750. read more

I already put reviews in two other review sites, but it's not enough. It all started when I agreed to a setup/price structure with them. My wife went in to place a deposit and was told to pay more than we were supposed to. I called to follow up that the right order was taken care of and make sure we we're still on schedule the next day. I was told that it was a mistake and that they had the right plan and they would get it done it two weeks. I also asked that they obtain a mortgage survey as I could not find mine (just bought this house). Two weeks went by and no fence. I called and was told that they were waiting on our mortgage survey. I reiterated my request for them to get it not once more, not twice, but three times before someone said they had taken care of it (and that was when I went in person). I only have 1 day each week that I'm not working when they are open so I had to call a lot. When I went in they said that they had the mortgage survey, but were missing a part and were waiting for it to come in. It was ordered and would be there in two weeks and it would be installed the next day. This was a message I received every two weeks for 2 months! Finally when they came to place the stakes (again after I went in) they didn't have the mortgage survey (and probably never did). By the way, they came out after I went in which was 3 days after the last promised date. Also, they never called me once. I had to follow up each time after giving them ample time to make the first call. After the fence was installed I went to pay the balance and was told they added a change of plan charge ($300) when it was them that made the error originally. They did take that off, but it was like pulling teeth just to make sure I didn't get screwed. I had to fix my sprinkler system and pay for my neighbors sprinkler system as well. The left my yard with no gate or fence for over a week. I have an in ground pool. They should've been fined for leaving it like that. If I would've known I would've called the city. After waiting several weeks for an appointment, Jeff came out to my house to quote a fence on May 10, 2013. I currently have a wooden, French Gothic style fence and we discussed the likelihood of not finding an exact replacement in vinyl. Jeff said if he couldn't find the French Gothic in vinyl, he would look into a vinyl product that could be custom cut as well as locating possible alternatives and that he would get back to me with a quote. I called May 17, 2013. Jeff was supposed to call back. He never did. I called May 23, 2013, and left a voice message. Jasmine called me back May 24, 2013. She relayed a message stating the French Gothic I was looking for wasn't available. Well...we knew that would most likely be the case when Jeff came out to discuss a quote. What happened to Jeff looking into having the tips custom cut - he was the one that brought that up. What happened to Anchor Fence offering and quoting the closest product they have to my current fence specs? I told Jasmine that Jeff and I had discussed that it most likely wasn't available and he was going to look into alternatives. She asked if I wanted Jeff to call me and I indicated "Yes". He still has not called me back. I called again May 28, 2013, spoke with Angela and asked if they could send someone else out to help quote alternatives to my current fence and was told she would have someone call me back. I have not heard anything from Anchor Fence since then. Their website states, "You will definitely be able to find exactly what you are looking for when it comes to your new fence and/or railing with our fence company in Redford, Michigan" and "There is no job too large or too small that we cannot handle" - they fell short of these statements in my opinion. read more

Probably the worst customer service, and workers i have ever come in contact with! Yesterday marked 1 month since we paid our deposit, and we still dont have a fence. Between my husband and I, we have now taken off 4 days of work for them not to show, or to do 20-30 minutes of work and leave. On 2 different occasions the contractor ( an older gentleman) was over an hour late and then the first thing out of his mouth was " Im really tired ma'am, i dont think i will get much done today!" We have spoken to the owner about our frustrations several times and he insures us that someone new will be out the next day, but continues to send us the same guy who clearly cant get the job done. We asked for a price break to make the situation right, and after agreeing, he comes back and gives us $65 off of the price... and this is just a glimpse of all the hassle. I cannot stress my frustration enough. I would recommend that you run, not walk the the opposite direction of this company, and don't look back. read more

Not worth the headache. I spoke to Jim and got our price set. Paid half up front. Told me it would take about 2 weeks. Call back 17 days later and I'm told that I have to have my neighbors fill out a form and grant us permission to have a fence built. Do that. Next day fax it over and am told that they have to apply for a permit. How long might that take? I'm told it could take up to 4 weeks! Why wouldn't you have told me that 17 days earlier???? No phone calls, no updates. They finally say they're going to come out and dig. They didn't. They came out like 4 days after and finally dug. Left posts up for like 4 more days until the fence was partially completed. Then finally after 6.5 weeks (not 2 like told) this was finally done. I must say the quality of the fence is great. The price was right. The service was AWFUL!!!!! I'm 99% certain that if I didn't pick up the phone after 17 days to find out when my fence was going to be built that nobody would have called me. Nobody here takes responsibility. This person was out for 2 weeks and this other person was out for 2 weeks. Don't give me that crap. Somebody else could have called me. Somebody else could have returned a call. Spend the extra money and go with a company that cares. read more
