I called to make an appointment two weeks in advance; I was scheduled for 8:30 am on Monday January 2nd. At the time, I didn't think there was anything strange about that, but when I showed up the day of (5 minutes early), I noticed the door was locked and there was no one in the office. I thought maybe that was because they opened right at 8:30 and I was early, but when I checked their hours online, it said they opened at 9. You can understand my confusion that they scheduled me for an 8:30 am appointment when they don't open until 9, but I figured it had just been a scheduling error so I sat there for 30 minutes to wait until they opened. I'm patient so I wasn't very bothered by this. Well 9 rolled around and the office stayed locked. I waited for 20 more minutes for signs of life before going back home, which I think was more than enough time for someone to arrive and open the place up, but no one ever did. I would have been understanding had I just been swinging by spontaneously, but I don't appreciate being left hanging for an appointment I scheduled 2 weeks ago. Not only did they somehow get their own shop hours wrong while scheduling, but they never even showed up! It bums me out considering this is by far the closest auto shop to my home and we've known these guys a while, but I don't think I'll ever be coming back here.

Some jobs too small…read more.. I hesitate to write this review because these guys have a deserved great reputation for body-off, concours-quality restorations. Unfortunately I took my vintage Mini to them for what I thought would be a very small job. The car looked and ran great and simply would' t pass the DC emission inspection. Seven weeks and $2k later... the car still won't pass inspection. When they asked for another week and another $500, I finally said "please just give me my car back." The entire seven weeks I had to make call after call, couldn't get a returned email, and got the feeling I was bugging them with my penny-ante little car. So, if you have a big restoration job, listen to the other reviews here. If you have something simple, take it somewhere else. I'm poorer and wiser for not doing so.

When I went to pick up my car, I was shocked to find the total was over $1,800. That's a major increase that should have been clearly communicated beforehand. If I had been informed, I could have decided whether to move forward with the repair. Instead, I was put in a position where I had no choice but to pay in order to get my car back. On top of that, after looking up the cost of the parts, it appears they mark them up by at least 40%. Proceed with caution. People don't write bad reviews for absolutely no reason.

So I have taken my car to Cotys on two separate occasions the first time I asked them to install a…read morefront grill shutter and get it working they installed it didn't work so I diagnosed the issue was wiring and it's a common issue if you just look up the Vin as well. I take it back tell them it's the wiring about 2 to 3 feet back behind the front bumper they told me they had to call someone and get someone to go in remotely and set it up charge me $171 to do so and it didn't do anything ( should have did that when they installed it) but like I said before it was wiring I told them multiple times what I wanted done and they chose not to do anything and charge me an absurd amount anyway so did it myself and it was 1000% wiring like I fucking said check engine light went off after running the vehicle a couple cycles just because people get work done Don't mean they don't know what they're talking about. Listen to your customers next time. Really ridiculous. Terrible service.
