First it took forever for our drinks , then when that half rack of baby back ribs came out for 16$ it looked like squirrel ribs !!! Tiniest things I've ever seen !!! Manager JASON came over and was so rude!! He said "well sweetheart those are baby back ribs we can argue the fact all day but it is what it is !" And just WALKED AWAYYYYYY!!! What?!?!after we paid and left he was standing on the stairs watching us and rudely said to us "have a nice day." Wel I've been in the food industry for 6 years now and ive never ever seen this type of behavior from a "manager" .. Also servers were coming by apologizing for his rude actions and asking if our restaurant was hiring cause they all think he's a loser ! Apparently his dad owns the place and allows this to happen .. Worst management and worst ownership out of any restaurant/bar I've ever been to. Service was excellent! Bartender that was on was extremely helpful and extremely friendly for it being her first day. She was extremely overwhelmed and apologetic for mistakes that were clearly not her fault. Wanted to complement her to a manager but there wasn't one present, I find that extremely hard to believe for a young new bartender to be alone without a manager in the building. I will defiantly not be back to this restaurant and would strongly recommend everyone to do the same, at least until new owners come along. I was extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism and lack of leadership/ management this establishment had. Leaving a young new bartender by herself all night is very unprofessional and, I heard plenty of customers telling the bartender she is better than this place and should just quit. Stopped in a coule weeks ago and had the fish platter it tasted great the whole meal was tasted excellent. Service was great as well, the whole wait staff was very friendly and attentive. They had live music so I stayed after the meal and had a couple drinks and listened to the music a while they were very good musicians I had a great evening, very enjoyable evening. read more

Convenient location to Hernando Beach and Weeki Wachee Springs but the food gets mixed reviews from our party. Crab Cake Sliders were good but the Steak Fajita Wrap was not. Boneless Wings had good flavor. Our server was very attentive even though he looked like he was covering more than his share of tables. You can't beat this type of place for its relaxed, waterside atmosphere. The menu is more extensive than most tiki/deck/waterside places that have a similar vibe, and what we had (two iterations of fish tacos and the grilled cheese) was delicious. Service was very good and friendly. Being elevated and having a large wrap-around deck, nearly every seat seems to have good exposure to the water, but definitely go for a table along the deck rail if available. THE SERVERS WILL SHORT CHANGE YOU - DO NOT PAY CASH EVER! I've been there twice. First time it was ok. Great rum runners. Great service. Yesterday, however will make it the LAST time I go there. We sat inside because we didn't want to inhale a plume of never-ending cigarette smoke. Then, since it was nice - they opened the sliding doors - and we got the full blast of smoke anyway. Our server took our order - eventually. Someone else attempted to bring food to our table --- asked if it was Calamari and shrimp that we ordered. We said no, and she wandered around awhile with the food. Our server came back with our food - the woman who TRIED to give us food came over and YELLED at us and said "I ASKED you if you ordered CLAMS and FISH and you said NO!" -- We explained she asked us if we ordered Calamari and SHRIMP. She said "Whatever - it's the same thing!" and stormed off. Nice. Said no one ever. The clams we ordered were burned. We complained. They brought us more clams - also burned. We gave up and asked them to just take them off our bill. We then got our bill. We had separate checks. My friend paid by credit card. I paid by cash. My total was $12.18, I gave the server a $20. It said on the receipt - $7.82 change. Guess how much she brought me? Only $7.00. She then disappeared. I asked 3 different people to have Samantha (our server) come back over. I wanted my .82. I know it's less than a dollar - but it's MY money - not theirs. I waited nearly 20 minutes, and she never came back. I asked to talk to the manager. No go. He/she wouldn't come out. So, Samantha wound up with an .82 cent tip. More than she deserved since she's a THIEF. I later CALLED and asked to talk to the manager and was rudely told that he couldn't talk as he was in the kitchen cooking but they could give him my number to call me back. No call back. I called again today - he was too busy to talk to me. I called just a few minutes ago -- again, too busy and this time they just hung up on me. DON'T GO THERE. ALSO - IT WAS PRETTY DIRTY. read more

there are times when you go to a restaurant and you really know you should not go in. This was the case on Wednesday for a late lunch. When I reach for the door and my hands stuck to it from the grime and grease I should have realized to turn around at that time. but I chose not to much to my chagrin. the food was not good well below average and the service was not up to par. It took 15 minutes for a server to even recognize us as many servers were busy walking around with another tables but not paying any attention to us. This is a good choice, but they need to update their menu on line. The waitress explained it was a menu from other owners, but it drew us there for children's spaghetti and then there was none, and a very spare children's menu. The fajitas were the meatiest I've eaten anywhere and other food was tasty. I like the smoked fish salad. The shrimp were not from the gulf. Probably more Asian supermarket shrimp, one of the dirtiest foods we import, often marinated in pesticides that would be illegal here but are used on surrounding rice fields. My wife & I visit this restaurant frequently and greatly enjoy the friendly staff and the view. However, the price of their beer is higher than anywhere else in Spring Hill and the variety of food on their menu is okay but they need to offer more salads with better lettuce quality. But the main thing that makes us often choose to go to other restaurants on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon is that there is no music playing over the sound system unless you put money in the juke box !! EVERY other restaurant in Hernando and Pasco counties have free music playing at all times in the background. read more

My husband and and I are on vacation from Texas, rented a cabin across the water from The Upper Deck. Went in for dinner tonight at 9pm and sat on the patio. Had a great start to the evening until a group of 6 people came and sat behind us that were extremely drunk, loud and belligerent. They self admittedly proclaimed they were drunk and proceeded to order liquor shots and drinks. After about 20 minutes of listening to loud cussing and absurdness we notified our waitress. She notified the manager and then came back to us and said the manager was not going to do anything. I told her I was calling authorities. She goes to tell the manager and the manager comes out and tells us that we need to pack up our $60 meal ticket and leave. He was extremely rude and unprofessional. The manager then went to the drunk table and told them we were calling authorities, which almost started a fight. We are very disappointed at how management handled the situation and will never be going back to this establishment. They rather have belligerent drunks as customers than a couple outside  enjoying a meal. I sure hope those people don't kill someone on their way home. One of the belligerent guys drives a company pool truck called Pool Aid Pools. Awesome experience guys... Not. The owner really needs to reconsider his management. To the families who enjoy a friendly, respectful, tasteful, and family friendly place to eat in Weeki Wachee, do not waste your time with "The Upperdeck" restaurant. Tonight was the worst experience our families have ever had at a restaurant. The management consists of one guy who could care less about the value of his employees, food, and customers. The employees are in the weeds, forgetting things, never stopping to ask if we need anything, in fact the only thing the manager did say was "what now" when we asked for something. It took an hour and a half to get our appetizers, drinks were empty almost the whole dinner, silverware was short, we would raise our hands to get attention, all of our food was from the microwave yet it still took 3 hours to get to our table. After all of this instead of an apology, the manager ended up having words with us, and our whole family walked out of that restaurant angry and upset. That will be the last time we ever step foot in that restaurant. We are never the type to sit at the table and complain, or let alone go out of our way to write a review on this when we are on VACATION, but we feel it would be wrong of us to not knowledge others of the terrible experience we had at The Upper Deck Restaurant. read more

This was my first and last time here. We went to celebrate a family members birthday and the waitress was AWFUL. She never told my boyfriend that they didn't have ribs anymore so as he waited to order, he ordered 5 wings as a small appetizer. The waitress then made him wait and when he tried to order the ribs was told they dont carry them anymore. He then asked if could add on 15 more wings and was told flat out NO by the waitress and that if he were to ask the manager she would say no as well. Long story short the manager gave him the other 15 wings. The food was horrible as well. I ordered boneless wings and they were so dry. They looked like the frozen nuggets from the freezer section. I will never spend another dime on this place. Every time we wold ask the waitress for something she told us we would need to hold on, because she obviously couldn't handle it. My husband and I went there on Saturday for the very first time, we were in the area celebrating Valentine's Day. We decided to eat outside to enjoy the view, and the manager lowered the window plastic shade right of our faces even before we had the chance to seat in our table, I was even looking outside when he practically pushed me aside to close it. He didn't ask for our consent, he didn't give us a reason, he just did it because he wanted to, without showing an ounce of politeness. We lost visibility, everything was blurry after that, we couldn't see the water, and the reasons for our selection were just gone because of this unmannered young man. We got upset, felt really disrespected, it was just 5:30 pm! We asked him to re-considered his decision, most of the other shades were still up, we "the customers", the ones that are supposed to be pleased, practically begging him to do something so simple, he was arrogant, rude, overbearing, he even told us to seat someplace else, I know bullies when I see one, and he is a big one. We got up and left, he was even sarcastic when we asked him to cancel our order. He doesn't deserve to be tending to customers, he has no people's skills, and no idea what customer service is all about. His name is Jason, I'm not coming back ever again, and as a teacher who touches hundreds of lives every day, I'll make my personal goal that none of my students, neither their families nor friends, put their feet in such a horrible and unwelcoming place. read more

I just moved to this neighborhood and thought sitting on the deck and having a bucket of beer and appetizer with my husband while the kids swam across the river would be a nice afternoon day. When we finished our lunch and 5 beers(which is what is served in a bucket of beer) we decided to walk across to the beach to see the kids rather than drive. We were a total of hour before going to move the car to the park parking lot. The owners son Jason I presume from other negative reviews flags me down at the stop sign and proceeds to yell at me about taking up a parking spot for an extra hour - he was cussing and sarcastic and for no reason - even when I explained I did not know and it would not happen again - he proceeded to hold me up at the stop sign with a sarcastic "come on you didn't know that?" I mean it I don't care if you spent money or not (which I did not mention to him- what was he watching all patrons?)- "don't park here and go to the beach - you park - eat and leave." Not to mention I clearly had out of state plates so YEAH I did not know that was not o.k. My families own 3 properties here so and we had hoped to go back that evening all 9 of us....Never in all my life have I had to deal with an owner of an establishment that is so rude to his patrons...The food was sub par at best so beer would have been my only choice for going there anyway. I am very disappointed that this could have been a great place to enjoy and afternoon once in awhile and now I cannot spend another dime at that establishment and neither will any of the multiple families I have here in the gardens. It was one thing to let me know that is not appreciated and going forward I would have respected that wish...But with his disrespectful behavior and rude condescending demeanor he can kiss all that revenue good bye - what a complete jerk! and for no reason!
