One of the worst experiences and meals I've ever had!!! If anyone is in the Weeki Wachee area stay clear of this place. Starting from the appetizer to the soup to the main course. The best part was the chicken tenders, and how do you screw that up?!? Let's start. We got there right after sunset to have a nice meal. The main door you couldn't find because of a lack of signage. Once we did find the door, it had locked from the inside and we needed to be let in (BTW, they close at 9pm, it was 7pm). Once inside we were seated outside in a very brightly lit area. The bulb was about 1000 watts. We had to turn it off. We waited 5 minutes to be greeted. We ordered an appetizer. The seafood dip. It was watery and tasted meh. Not that great. 1 star. We also ordered a Caesar Salad and the lobster bisque. Salad is tough to mess up. It was ok. The croutons were off the chart (best part of the whole meal) the bisque was TERRIBLE. Yes I'm a food snob. But understand I'm from south Jersey a mecca of seafood delicacy. We know our foods. Next, the main course ...... OMG. It was disgusting. I ordered the broiled seafood platter with Mahi, scallops and shrimp. In a lemon butter sauce. It was downright yuck! seriously, I tried to eat it and stomach the meal. I could not. Here's the best part. I asked for the manager and explained to her the meal was absolutely disgusting and I did not want it. I had my girlfriend try it and she it was terrible. I had to eat the tenders. The manager, a young lady, was very UNHELPFUL!! She said she could give us a piece of cake to make up for the bad meal. Lol. That's a joke. They didn't offer bottle water, only water from their soda machine. I dunno when their filter was changed or where their water is coming from, but it was undrinkable. Even their coke products was undrinkable since it's using the same water source. Nachos: Very stale chips with salty ground beef and movie theatre quality runny cheese. Shrimp poppers: Shrimp were nice and crispy. Cocktail sauce that came with it looked like it was in the fridge for months. Complete thick jam texture glob, which we did not even try. Fish Reuben: Fish was fried crispy, but the saurkuart taste was really off. Didn't take more than 2 bites. 2nd bite with the saurkuart scrapped off. Smh. Let me start by informing you all that I WORKED here for 2 days and never came back! (Something they're very familiar with when it comes to their waitresses) First of all its dirty as hell. Looking through the kitchen I noticed one of the cooks had an open wound and was handling the food!! Not even joking he walked up to the soda fountain where I was filling drinks and he scratched a gross open sore in the back of his neck and went right back to the kitchen. NOBODY washed their hands and when preparing the customers salad you get yelled at for putting on gloves because it 'wastes too much time' like ew I was just touching old food and empty beer bottles I'm not putting my hands in people's food like that. When got our tab we were charged $5.50 for the drink and an extra $2.00. I questioned this added charge and was told by manager? Who was wearing a Popeye t-shirt, that the drink with their usual 1oz pour would not look like much of a drink so "they" add 1/2 oz and call it a long pour and add $2.00 extra without informing the customer. I was in Weeki Wachee the first week November and found the Upper deck after a fun Kayaking trip. The place was right next door from the place I rented the Kayaks. We were starved when we finished Kayaking so we pretty much tried most of the seafood. We sat outside on the deck, which was great. You could eat and enjoy the surroundings. We had the following: Stone crab claws: both medium and large: we ordered them warm since you can get them cold or hot. Both size we outstanding I do have a preference for the mediums they seem to be on the tastier side. Seasonal but if they have them you must get them! Chips and Salsa: We did not realize that the chips were homemade. Make sure you tell them you want them hot they are great. Salsa is on the chunky side and less saucy, which we prefer. Fried Pickles: Great job, we could not stop eating them, these are pickle spears and not chips so keep that in mind when ordering. Excellent spices on them also! Highly recommend. U peel'em Shrimp: We had them hot scampi style, quite tasty. Best part about them is they were cleaned ( De-veined) and very easy to peel. We also had the Fried shrimp, these were lightly battered and great also. Corn Nuggets: These were ordered over my choice of slaw or Fries with my sandwich. Never had these before, they serve them with coconut syrup if you want also. They are quite the side and a great substitute for desert. Grouper sandwich: I chose to have the fish blackened. I have had many a groupser sandwiches in my travels throughout Florida and I have had some great ones and some very bad ones...This one was one of the best Grouper sandwiches I have had in many years. Highly recommend. Ambiance: It was a great afternoon out on the deck over the water and having a large lunch/dinner and kicking back a few beers amongst friends. Best deal seems to be the bucket of beers basically 5 beers in a bucket of ice. Service: Believe me we challenged our waitress (Jenn) not on purpose but just because we were drinking eating and having a great time. She was great and very attentive to our needs. I did hear they are under new ownership perhaps this is why my recent experience is so much better then older one, not sure but we had a great time and a fantastic experience. Had lunch today at the Upper Deck. It was a glorious day to do so. Weather was cool; however, we sat at a partially sunny/shady table with a fine view of the river and I took my sweater off because I did not need it. Staff was cheerful and polite. We ate around 2 pm so noise level was not a problem. I had the fish tacos and my husband had the cheesesteak sandwich with fries. The fries were OUTSTANDING! My husband, who is a fries snob, stated: "Now THAT'S what fries are SUPPOSED to taste like! " He also was very happy with the cheesesteak sandwich. Part of the experience at the Upper Deck, is the drive there. Any of you snowbirds who want to experience the "Old Florida" of the 1950's this is the drive for you. It is a two lane road and you are surrounded on both sides of the road with Pine trees, scrub oak, cabbage palms and palmetto bushes. There are signs along Shoal Line Road to watch out for bears and deer! Since I was born and raised in Central Florida I can vouch for the authenticity and frankly, I got a little misty eyed for what-used-to-be. The only reason I gave Upper Deck four stars instead of five is because the fish tacos were very skimpy on the fish portion. Tasted fine but kinda pricey considered the meager amount of fish in the sandwich. However, I will be back and give Ya'll an opportunity to prove me wrong re the fish tacos. read more

I have lived in this area for five years now and I have been here twice.... DON'T let that be deceiving! The first time we went was a couple of years ago and the food was great then. The service was a little slow but not bad. The second time we went was fantastic!!! Food was really good and the service was spot-on. It was very relaxing and the perfect way to top off our day. My differences between the two visits were: 1. On the first trip we drove, ate, then left. On the second we had been on the boat most of the day on the Weeki Wachee River and we made a pit-stop at Upper Deck on the way out to the gulf for the rest of our day. We just pulled our boat up to one of the docks, tied up, through some clothes on top of our swimsuits and headed to the deck! (Another plus is that you can usually see the boat from the deck so you can keep an eye on it). 2. The first time it was just me and the boyfriend and the second time we had some friends with us so I think that made it easier to enjoy ourselves. In summary, with the added boat and friends the second go round was only the beginning of many more visits! Also, they have Cajun Fried Pickles. I know at first that may sound "uniquely odd" but if you like pickles and just a kick of spice, you will love these! My friend got the stuffed mushroom appetizer which turned out to be huge. If i like mushrooms I would have loved those. They were smothered in cheese...yum! read more

This is a great place to have a bite to eat after paddling on the river. They are kid friendly and the food is pretty tasty. It's very casual which is so nice after being on the water. These are the items I highly recommend Chicken house salad is very good- light and filling, nachos supreme is a great appetizer or as a meal. Had a great time with my boyfriend while spending his birthday staying in a house on the river. We had no clue where to go to celebrate and found ourselves at Upper Deck.
