I got a referral from one of my yoga instructors and decided to give it a try. Kayleen was very helpful over the phone. We scheduled a consultation for my Dad and I. We were very impressed with Dr Joe's explanation during the consultation. We also did x-rays prior to our first treatment. Rae was also helpful at the reception desk. The treatment itself was very subtle, yet effective. I felt more energy circulation and was very happy to see the results. After the first follow-up, we decided to do the 6 month session and so far it's been a little over one month and we both feel a lot of relief. I've seen four chiropractors over the past 5-6 years, and never have I felt so understood as when Dr. Joe took the time to thoroughly review my symptoms--ranging from nausea, foot aches, and eye pain, to GI issues, and major neck and shoulder pain. Dr. Joe is the BEST chiropractor that I've ever known. His approach if very thorough, holistic style, and effective. He takes specific measurements and x-rays to accurately access your case. The consultation was mind-blowing to see a detailed personal analysis of my neck condition. I have been in a few car accidents. The result was stiffness and dull pain on one side of my neck and mid back. Dr. Joe had been the ONLY chiropractor who increased the mobility of my neck. I immediately could look side to side with a significant increased range of motion. We have been going to Dr. Joe for a few years now and i have to say it's life changing. My wife used to have epic bad migraines and sometimes it was unbearable. Once we visited Dr. Joe it helped tremendously. Give this man a few visits and he will change your life in ways that will be beneficial to your health. I don't like writing reviews until I've had consistently good service. With Dr.Joe, I've been getting adjustments with him for over two years. I've always had back issues and after having 3 kids my back is even more in need of proper alignment. Right off the bat, it's not cheap. But then again neither are meds for the rest of your life or surgery. At first I wasn't convinced the slight tapping here and there was doing anything. My husband felt immediate relief but I had a few headaches and felt dizzy for the initial day or two. It all depends on how your body responds. Sometimes you gotta hurt to feel good again. I had two kids when first seeing him and saw him during my 3rd pregnancy. At this point my back isn't perfect, but I feel it's much stronger as he helped keep everything from rotating while I was pregnant. My back feels better and hips feel more stable-- I think his adjustments helped contribute to me being able to give birth virtually pain free at home (with not even a tylenol). I've gone to conventional chiropractors where they crack you, but I always felt a bit apprehensive knowing my neck and spine would pop. With Dr.Joe, he does one crack on your mid/higher back and it's ever so slight and not forced. The rest of the few minutes he sees you it's a few taps/pressure on your neck and then back. Every time I visit, my kids are occupied with the play area he has set up. It's equipped with toys and lots of books. Even when my kids are rowdy he's sincerely happy to see them and chats with them. We finally realized after seeing my son fall and hit his head almost on a daily that it's so important to address spine misalignment on all our kids. We know that the sessions will help with them get sick less, sleep better, and stay calmer...well as best as possible. My kids are so comfortable around him that it was not a big deal telling them we'd start doing adjustments on them too. He even put my 6 month old at ease at his first visit. We love that Dr.Joe genuinely puts his patients interest at heart. His waiting area always has free informational pamphlets that is printed out for you to take home to read, the TV usually has an eye opening health related show on, and you can see he practices what he preaches. I usually see him drinking a swampy green juice and bombard him with food related questions because he's just THAT health conscience. All in all, he's a great doctor that listens and heals. I realized at my last visit that this office does not comply with COVID guidelines. Dr Joe and his assistant do NOT wear masks. They do not take temperatures or having any COVID screening questions. There is no social distancing as I counted more than 10 people in the office in a congested waiting area. When I asked about this - they dismissed it as "it's your choice to wear a mask." That was it. Safety should be the #1 concern for all. Especially in a health care setting. Dr Breuwit, you have forever changed my life for the better! Thank you! I would say about 4-5 years ago, I stumbled across his table at a conference or something of the sort. I think they did mini consultations or graphing there. I knew nothing about Upper Cervical and didn't even know what it was. I have SLE lupus and at the time, I couldn't get a day job and can barely keep a job. My insomnia would last a couple days. My life was a disaster. I was pretty miserable. Upper cervical is a miracle. He not only helped me live a normal life but he opened the door of awareness. That is something you keep with you forever. His rates are reasonable. But for me, they were very low for the value. Health is priceless & his hands work miracles. I'm not exaggerating either. His sessions are pain-Free and quick. You wouldn't even know you did anything because of how nice the experience is but I promise it works wonders. Very nice guy with very laid back office. I can not recommend him enough! WARNING: I am about to sound like an infomercial. Seriously. I know no other way to compose this review. Okay, I warned you. First, if you're looking for a quick-fix--you know, crack my back so I can feel good for a bit--then this is not it. If you're genuinely interested in investing in your total well-being with long-term results, read on. As an event coordinator, I've worked with Upper Cervical as a vendor client at our expos. On day two of our three day expo, I decided to stand in line to try a free spinal assessment. Intrigued with my results--which were really good, compared to my friends who I encouraged to join me in the free assessment--I tucked my results away. Six months or so later, I would hurt myself after skateboarding with my then 10-year old son on a rainy day (yes, I know...I know...). I slipped and broke my fall with my right arm. I fell hard and hurt my wrist and entire right arm and shoulder. My range of motion on my right side was extremely limited. It was a daily challenge for me to get dressed. It was painful for me to do daily, mundane motions: shopping, dishes, brushing my hair with my right hand (did I mention I'm right handed?), carrying my bags to work/school, even driving. I tried massages, stretching, pain medication, all to no long-term solution. Three months later, at another one of our expo's, I would check in our usual vendor, Upper Cervical. I was curious to see what my assessment would show, now that I was living with an injury to my right side. Whoa. The color coded back graph showed an extreme overcompensating pull from my left side. This totally correlated with my injury--which I did not share with the vendor staff member at the time. I was sold when I saw the potential in getting treatment that would not be a band-aid; instead, they spoke of healing. I made my first appointment at their expo booth. Days later, I was in Dr. Joe's office and eager to see what would come of this so-called unorthodox method of chiropractic care, which focuses on realigning the atlas. After numerous assessments and x-rays, I had my first treatment. "That's it?" was my response after a few light taps here and there by Dr. Joe. "Yup. That's what almost all of my first-time clients say" laughed Dr. Joe. I thought I was getting ripped off at that moment. However, when I stood up to gather myself, I noticed that my range of motion had increased slightly. Hopeful, I was on my way but not before making my next appointment. That was in January of 2017. After only 4 treatments (although I purchased the 21 visits package and I intend on making the most of it before Jan 30, 2018, ha ha) my range of motion is almost at pre-skateboard accident days. I am happy to report that although I missed MONTHS of treatment, I've been back to my daily life routines since the end of February of 2017! It was awesome to be able to raise my arms above my head and put on a blouse, dress or tshirt all by myself. As a single mother of five children, a career woman with an active lifestyle, I am so happy to have Dr. Joe and his team as my care provider. Critics may claim this treatment is expensive. My take is that you cannot put a price on your health and/or daily lifestyle. At about $100 a month as an investment in my total well-being, I'll take it any day over meds and feel-good-for-a-day massages (don't get me wrong, I still partake in those as well!). Side note, my good friend's father has been a chronic migrane sufferer: taking morphine to help endure his pain. Doctor's couldn't figure out to help him. After a few treatments with Dr. Bruewet, he's on his way to recovery and living a migraine-pain free lifestyle. I was so looking forward to first appointment at Upper Cervical Hawaii. I was running late unfortunately and called to say I was on the way. I was happy when I got close but started to get stressed as I couldn't find the right building and kept passing it. I tried to just park near location but couldn't find parking as it was at a very busy time of day. " rush hour". I called again and " Rae "was very short with me and rude. She tried to make me feel dumb by saying " it's at the PanAm building.... you know... the big tall building across from ala Moana that says.... Pan Am across the top of it". If you're having any type of neck or back pain, definitely recommend coming in. They don't accept insurance so you'll have to front the cost out of pocket, but some insurance companies will reimburse you so definitely check in with your health care provider. I got X-rays and a very thorough examination my of hips, shoulder, spinal and neural activity throughout the brain stem and spine that I've never had at any other chiropractor-type place. I was going in every week for about 2 months and now am going once every 2 weeks for a month and then every month for 2 more months and I haven't experience much back or neck pain since stepping foot in this office. I have been seeing chiropractors for most of my life. I was diagnosed with Scoliosis when I was eleven years old. The doctor at the time told me that as I get older, my spine would only get worse and that is really wasn't recommended that I have children due to where my curvature is and it would only result in damage and health problems later on in life. That was 37 years ago. In my mid 20's I met a chiropractor specialist that specialize in upper cervical adjustments in Washington State. My very first x-rays showed degeneration on the vertebrae of my spine and I had chronic headaches and discomfort and a very short attention. Within a couple of years of monthly therapy, my spinal curvature reduced from 28 degrees to 22. And the degeneration that showed on my previous x-rays were gone.. showing that if you give your body the right tools, it can heal itself. My headaches were long gone, and I could focus and remember. I continued this care for many years until I moved back to Hawaii.. And not knowing where to find this type of care, I went many years without it resulting in the return of pain and discomfort. I am happy to have found Dr. Breuwet who is an upper cervical specialist. In the short amount of time I have been his patient, my lower back pain has reduced significantly and my neck and shoulders are no longer always like tight cables. I have been a patient of Dr. Breuwet for a few years now. I was dealing with rheumatoid arthritis for about 6 years when I first started seeing him. I was always in pain and had high inflammatory factors in my bloodwork. After about a year and a half of having consistent adjustments my rheumatologist told me I was in remission and started to wean me off of my medications. What a scam!! Terrible place that only cares about money! They won't even start treating the client unless you sign a financial agreement even when it is promised at promotional events! The office staff was nice but Dr. Joe Breuwet was condescending, rude and very unprofessional! I heard about this place at the car expo at the convention center last week. The lady was nice at the convention and made all these promises and made it sound good even took a $20 deposit that they weren't even going to give back (at the office) until I brought it up to them just prior to leaving. She promised a free x-ray that the doctor refused to do unless you sign a financial agreement to come back and get the adjustment or whatever he recommends. Terrible business practice and nasty person in general was my feeling. He tried to make me sign up for 2 additional appointments. One seemed reasonable, but like I said, all about money as he explained to me that "most of my patients are on a payment plan" I will never go back there or recommend to anyone I know there either. Dr. Breuwet saved me. I recommend him and upper cervical care to anyone I know that is dealing with back pain. I was suffering from severe chronic back pain and headaches/migraines for over a year with MRIs showing a severe disc herniation in the neck (C4/5) and two bulging lumbar discs. My pain became so severe that I had to stop working, traveling, give up all my sports and social life. I was barely able to sit or stand without excruciating pain. I tried any and every possible cure (massage, 4 rounds of physical therapy, acupuncture, muscle alignment therapy, healing cleanses, posture pumps, cervical traction, inversion tables etc.). Once I started getting my adjustments from Dr. Breuwet, I finally started recovering and being able to reclaim my life.
