This was my very first chiropractic visit, and I'm so glad I finally made the decision to book an appointment. My only regret is not doing it years ago! After reading more about him--seeing that he went to Kamehameha Schools (Imua!) and learning about the clientele he's built--I was sold. When I arrived at his office, I immediately noticed how quick and efficient he was with patients, yet still very welcoming. found dr. luke on google and he's had nothing but great reviews. i needed to find a chiropractor who could get me in asap bc i was suffering from a horrible tension headache that wouldn't go away even with medication. called me the day after my inquiry and got me in the same day during his lunch. within 2-3 visits i could already feel the difference! although he is a bit pricey, i appreciate how knowledgeable & caring he is with his patients. i also like how he takes x rays to figure out the root cause of what's going on. unfortunately there are times where i need to cancel/reschedule often but dr. luke is SUPER understanding when it comes to that. overall, amazing chiropractor who cares about his patients. read more

It's been years since I last been to a chiropractor. However as we get older, it's important to take time to out of our schedules to focus on our health. My friend suggested checking out Ho'ola Chiropractic because I work a typical desk job and have a history of neck issues. What makes this practice unique, is that they specialize in upper cervical care. Scheduling was easy as the office is open on Saturday mornings. (Because who has time during the week?) The practice is located across the street from Ala Moana. There is parking for visitors in the building or you can park at Ala Moana and walk over. The check in process was simple and just needed to fill out paperwork to address any issues. For the initial appointment, we did xrays, talk about concerns, and more. I appreciate how thorough he explained what was going on during the appointment and what treatment he would provide to aid certain areas in my neck and spine. Adjustments are fast and provide relief. Cracking noises freak me out at times so I appreciate how fast he was. Though it's not a one time fix, it's a process. Dr. Luke is an extremely competent and compassionate healer who not only addressed the very root of the chronic neck, back and jaw pain which I had to endure for many years due to a whiplash injury and poor habits in my posture but also instilled in me a sense of optimism, hope, and joy for a pain-free and healthy life! Dr. Luke explained to me in a manner that was very clear and easy to follow regarding the current structure of my cervical joints and how it was lacking a normal, healthy-S curve (images attached). In fact, I was shocked to see that my joints were inverted when I shown the X-ray images! If I were to leave as it is, he informed me that it could become a more serious problem such as getting osteoarthritis in the unforeseen future. After my first session, I noticed a significant reduction in my pain and better sleep and energy levels and was glad to find someone who I can trust. I was looking for a chiropractor and I heard about Hoola Chiropractic from a friend and wanted to check them out. They are located across Ala Moana center and the building had lots of parking on a Saturday morning. Since it was my first time there Dr. Luke greeted my friend and I and gave us a few documents to sign and look over. After completing the paperwork we were invited into the back where we talked about what was bothering us and what a typical day looked like for us. My job has me on my feet a lot and doing lots of bending and squatting since I work with children. There are also times when I'm at my desk for meetings and working on the computer. He took this into consideration and got me started on my treatment. Dr. Luke was super thorough when he was explaining to me everything that he was going to do before he did it and while he was doing the adjustment. He did something on my neck while I was laying on my side and he told me that I would feel a rush of heat to that area once he was done and I was glad he told me that was going to happen. I love how personable he is and his willingness to address questions that I had. With hoping to start a family soon I asked if chiropractic care was beneficial for pregnancy and he said it definitely can help alleviate the body through the pregnancy. I am not surprised that Dr. Luke has so many wonderful reviews!! Well, make way for another one!! I have suffered with my hip and leg hurting off and on, (mostly on) for years. Recently my Son-in-law recommended Dr. Luke, but I was skeptical. However, after trying so many other things, I had nothing to lose. On my very first visit, after the x-rays and just ONE adjustment, I walked out of his office with ZERO pain.....but, that Is not the best of it.! I was referred to Dr. Luke by chiropractor for vertigo. He has a very energetic and friendly demeanor. Upon entering his office, I had a consultation along with some X-rays. We were able to discover that my neck and back were out of alignment which is the cause of my vertigo and back pain. I've had five visits so far and the they were quick. This place is a SCAM and RIP OFF. Right away when you call to book your 1st appointment he will charge you $50 over the phone to "hold the appointment". This place does not accept insurance. During the appointment he will easily charge you $300. $150 for initial exam and $50 per x-ray for 3 x-rays. THAT IS $300 BEFORE HE EVEN ADJUSTS YOU! Then it's $95 per adjustment/visit, and $125 per reevaluation/visit. AVOID THIS PLACE! Any other chiropractic place is better than this one. This place is a DISGRACE to chiropractic practice. Do not listen to Dan T (1-Star review). This place is not a scam. No one works for free, especially in hawaii. Majority, if not all of the chiropractors on Oahu don't accept insurances right away. At the end of my 37 visits, he will give me a detailed breakdown of my plan with visits so I can submit to my insurance (HSMA). I confirmed with HSMA that they will reimburse me a percentage. This place helped me put my upper cervical back in place as the X-Rays confirmed it was twisted within 37 visits. I also pulled my back doing some deadlifts over the weekend. I texted and immediately got a response of how to treat it (on a non-working day). The following day, I came in for my visit and he didn't charge me extra to put my lower back in place. My hip does not hurt nor dislocate anymore! Over the past year, my hip would hurt, dislocate, and I would walk with a limp when the atmospheric pressure would decrease, which for me, indicated it would rain. I had adjustments by another chiropractor for my hip and his treatments did not help. I then saw an orthopedic surgeon, and the diagnosis was I would have to live the pain, and the doctor said it was normal for people like me to feel "achy" before and when it rains. Not wanting to live with the pain which was getting worse, I decided to see Dr. Luke. After 2 and 1/2 months of treatments, and I am not finished, I went from pain to no pain, no more dislocated hip, and no limping - even when it rains! My quality of life is back!! This review is way overdue. I have a been suffering from excruciating lower back and neck pains for 25+ years and have seen many chiropractors, physical therapists, and one physiatrist. The treatments were temporary and ineffective. I ran into Dr. Luke at a senior fair over two years ago; however, I misplaced his card. Over a year ago, I was informed that I needed neck surgery. I was totally frightened after reading a pamphlet about the surgery that if I chose to do the surgery, there was a possibility that I could loose my voice and/or salivary glands. I started looking for other alternatives, and ran into Dr. Luke at another senior fair. I have been seeing Dr. Luke for over a year now. I've known Timmy for a very long time, I coached him in youth soccer and basketball. I'm very proud of his accomplishments. When I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia I went to see him to get it corrected. He worked on aligning my rib cage, sternum, middle back, and stomach. I received adjustments and stomach massages for about six months to release the stress on my diaphragm to treat my hiatal hernia and acid reflux. Dr. Luke is fantastic! I met him at the Freedom Walk for Epilepsy in Kailua on the 4th of July. He clearly is dedicated to the community and shows his support. Dr. Luke had a demonstration with two scales where folks stand with one foot on each scale. To my chagrin, I had a 12 lb difference between my left and right side (for reference, I'm 100 lbs so that is 12% of my body weight!). I scheduled a new patient consult with him at a discounted rate because of the walk and after a few x-rays, Dr. Luke informed me that I had a "military neck". My neck had lost its natural curve due to trauma and was now abnormally straight. This was due to my previous falls when I was a cheerleader. I knew immediately that I was meant to meet Dr.Luke because lo and behold...he's an upper cervical specialist. In chiropractor lingo...this means he knows what he's doing when it comes to your neck. Dr. Luke set me up on a care plan (which I'll be submitting my own claim to Kaiser Permanente) and now I've been seeing him on average three times a week. Honestly, I feel great now! I'm about a fourth of the way through my care plan and I've already noticed less pain throughout my body. Dr. Luke is effective in his adjustments and he explains what he is doing. The reason why I'm writing this review is because I missed my 5:00 PM appointment today but Dr. Luke stayed until my fiancé and I showed up at 5:45 pm. I hurt my lower spine with a single cough. The spine, not the muscle. For the 1st 4 days, the pain didn't get worst or get any better. I couldn't bend at the hip. So washing my hands hurt, putting my pants on, even tying my shoelaces were difficult. Because it wasn't the muscle, wearing a back brace did nothing. I workout 5 days a week so I'm familiar with injuries and this felt different. Just to give people reading a little of my background, I can squat 425lbs and deadlift 455lbs easily. My back never bothers me unless I pull a muscle, which is maybe once every 2 years. This is why form and knowing your limits is very important to weight lifters. Then on day 5, it got worst. Through out the entire day, it hurt more and more. Then on day 6, it was worst than day 5. This is when I decided to see Dr. Tim. Even standing for 10 minutes, my lower spine would start to hurt. I woke up on day 7 (after seeing Dr. Tim) and the pain went down. I was able to bend about 1 inch at the waist. Day 8, it got even better. Able to bend 2 inches On day 9, I had another adjustment. And it got better again. I had a total of 4 adjustments and the pain is almost gone. I can tie my shoes and even go to the gym again (no squats or deadlifts yet). By the 4th adjustment, I was able to almost bend 90 degrees at the waist. I'm still not 100%, but I can say his adjustments really helped me. The best part is that he has his own X-ray. Many Chiro's that I called, didn't have a machine, so I would have to make a separate trip to get x-rayed. I do have a slight scoliosis from my muscles pulling to the left over years of weight training. It's not genetic scoliosis. It's fixable and I will continue to see Dr. Tim to work on this. This way I can keep weight training as I get older. read more

Dr. Luke of Ho'ola Chiropractic has been such a savior to me and my constant back pain I have been dealing with for the past 10 years. Doctors can offer surgery, which is extremely risky when the spine is involved. Pain meds do not heal the body, just masks the pain and becomes a problem in itself. Many people swear by Accupuncture, but I didn't think it helped me, and I also believe that "who" can make a difference. For almost 5 years I have been talking about trying a chiropractor. I've seen dr.Luke because it was Saturday and he was the only chiropractor available. First weird thing was that he asked for a deposit in advance over the phone. I never experienced that from doctors. Then he charged $130 for only diagnostics, which was answering regular questions about yourself and 5 min conversation then I had to pay $80 per x-ray, I had few per his recommendation. He also said that you can claim it with HMSA. I trusted that and he seamed knowledgable so I went with it. I spent $420 and HMSA refunded $120 so don't trust him of he tells you that. I was patient because I thought he must be so good. I came next time and he did his treatment 5 min ($90) and and then he sent me to sit in recovery room for 10min or so. Anyway I went to see another chiropractor after that takes effort for an hour or so, so I know this is not normal. Also when I asked him for x-ray other doctors couldn't read it. It was in weird format. I had to call multiple times to get that and the recepit for claim and discuss and I don't know what. read more

Today makes 14-18 weeks of extreme back and leg pain. 2 acupuncturists, physical therapy, water therapy, 5 sports massages, muscle relaxers, pain killers, 3 different chiropractors and a drained bank account later...I'm finally slowly being healed. This young Dr. Timothy Luke of Ho'ola Chiropractic is awesome!!! After 4 sessions with him, I can walk almost normally again. Nerve pain is still there but it's all in a process and that's what he'll attack next. No one could heal me and we think he also solved my brain issues from last year that not one of the gazillion specialists I've seen could solve. If any of you need a good chiropractor check out Dr. Luke. He's a little more pricy and sessions are quick which made me very skeptical but he's the real deal! If you're in pain, go and see him!
