The procedure seemed to go well and I returned to my office. Once there I noticed that my back felt wet and, as you can see in the photo, the wound was leaking blood. I called Luciano's office and spoke with a nurse who I told I was back at the office and the wound needed attention. He suggested I get gauze and tape and apply it to the wound. I noted that I couldn't do it myself since the wound is on my back. What was I supposed to do? Strip to the waist and ask a colleague to do it? I then told the nurse I was immediately returning to Luciano's office. When I arrived the Physician's Assistant treated the wound and redressed it. I asked to speak with the doctor but was told he wasn't available and I could speak with the Office Manager. My conversation with her was, to put it mildly, highly unpleasant. I won't be returning to this doctor and I've made arrangements to have the sutures removed by my PCP.

DONT CALL US, WE'LL CALL YOU!! Just getting an appointment is ridiculous. They require a referral, if they are short staffed they say call back and then they tell you, we need to review the referral and we will call you in about a week and a half. Definately not up to the UPMC Cardiac groups level of patient care. So sad!!!!

I just moved here from out of state and had to find a new Oncologist. I decided to try the UPMC Cancer Center. Anyone that has cancer knows how stressful it is to try a new doctor and to have to go see them every six months. We scheduled our appointment for September 2025. I called UPMC a week before to see if they were able to get my files from my previous cancer doctor. They stated that they did. The day of my first appointment to meet with the new doctor they were going through a system change which caused us to have to be there for 6 hours. I am not sure why you would schedule a new patient to come in when the new computer system is going live that day. It is already stressful enough trying a new doctor but to have to wait 4 hours to see him causes more stress. When I did finally get to see him, he stated that they had not received any of my medical files. Once I finished seeing him, they had me do blood work. Before they did it, I specifically asked if it would be covered under my plan, they said yes. Well, it was not. When I called to speak to someone at the cancer center the receptionist stated that she would have someone call me back. No one did. When I went to follow up a week and half later the receptionist stated that she was going to transfer me to Jenn who handles the insurance info. I spoke to Jenn, and she states that she is not responsible for determining where the lab work is sent. She just sends it to the pathology group, and they just figure it out. Funny part is I spoke to the Pathology group prior and they stated that it was UPMC Job to check the patients insurance plan prior to sending. Being a Benefits Coordinator in my past career I know that the pathology group was correct it is UPMC Responsibility. When I questioned Jenn, she became really nasty. The girl should not have the job she has. She has no customer service skills, and she really does not know her job. It is people like her that are making UPMC not a good place to go if you have medical issues. Once I left my appointment that day, I was told I have to come back in 30 days to go over my numbers with the doctor. It is bad enough waiting a week for your results but 30days. Well, when I went back for a follow up appointment it was not even with the doctor, they gave me a nurse to go over my numbers. The Nurse really did not seem to know too much about CLL. If she was familiar with CLL she would know that the focus is not just on my white blood cell count it is on multiple other things. Plus, our numbers tend to fluctuate. Then she proceeds to tell me that she needs me to come back in another 30 days to discuss my numbers with the doctor. So basically, they wasted my time and money again. I said no, I had discussed them with my prior doctor and he stated they were fine. When I went to leave UPMC, they were supposed to set up a dermatology appointment, but they forgot. I had to call them back. They could not get me an appointment until March. So, I decided to try Geisinger. I had to drive an hour and half to the Geisinger Dermatology group, but I was able to get an appointment for December 29th. I would definitely recommend going to Geisinger for all your health care needs. The staff was really nice and was quick to get all my appointments set up at one time. Like I said the doctor was great at UPMC, but the administrative staff was terrible and just caused more stress.

The staff at this facility look people in the eye, smile (even behond their masks), and go the extra mile to help patients amd their families feel welcomed amd comfortable. From nurse Honi in the ED to nurses Scott in Recovery amd Scott in the OR, the employee we met took us places that were difficult to find in their hospital, even when it wasn't convenient for them. William W. and Sarmile of housekeeping chatted pleasantly and keep the enviroment sanitary and neat. Registered Nurse Leader, Kimberly Seskey of 4 Main checked in to be sure our stay was up to UPMC's standards. What a complete customer service team! The urology team headed by Dr. Bruce Jacobs took utmost care and provided thorough explanations. Attending Dr. Marci Pere and Resident Dr. Brett Teplitz were personable and went the extra mile to help us feel treated like their own family. We HIGHLY RECOMMEMD this hospital. I am a Rehab Services Manager, and have seen many hospitals..this is among the top facilities I've ever seen! We are grateful we were in Pittsburgh when this emergency not in SoCal where we live. Okay I am not a big fan of hospital food , but the time I spent as a visit for four days visiting…read morefamily in the hospital, I have to say the food I ordered in the cafeteria was great !!! No kidding I am not sure I would recourse hospital itself, it has always been a hit or miss with me, I like the location, our doctors are here and so on, but as a visitor the food in cafeteria I will go to have every time !!!
