Lesa welcomed us when we arrived after dinner and made us feel at home with homemade baked goods and wine. Our rooms were lovely, and although the manor is two hundred years old, it has all the amenities one would expect in modern accommodations. The beds are extremely comfortable as well. Breakfast was a treat, a feast of local yogurt, homemade scones, tea cake, frittata, fruit, and ham. Lesa is the perfect host--warm, welcoming, accommodating, talented in the kitchen, and genuinely concerned with providing her guests with a wonderful getaway. Staying in her lovely home feels like visiting a friend. We will return whenever we are in the area. The Blackinton is a gem!!

If I believed any place I was reviewing was terrible I would never say it was awesome, so just because I know the innkeeper doesn't mean I'm sugarcoating my experience. I wanted to share that I think the Blackinton Manor is a lovely place to stay in the Berkshires. The hostess really cares about her guests' full experience. She strives to use locally sourced products whenever she can. She wants everyone to feel like they are comfortable and at home in her home, and I definitely felt comfortable here. And she makes yummy and hearty breakfasts. If you're lucky enough to be served the sticky buns, you're in for a real treat. Stay here. You won't regret it. Things to note: She does have a dog, who while friendly and gentle, is still a dog and will be at the Manor while you're there. So if you're not a dog person, this might not be the place for you. Also, if you have food allergies or restrictions, be sure to disclose them. She'll ask when you arrive but it's nice to let her know in advance so she can prepare for your stay and make your meal as yummy and accommodating as possible.

There are old objects in your room (aka "antiques"). It kinda smells.... you guessed it, old. We stayed in the Parlor room. Visually it looked great, but our bed was rock hard and our pillows squishy soft. Not a good combination. They had extra pillows, but they smelled of moth-balls, so we declined using them. The owners/hosts are amazing! They gave us a country breakfast of homemade granola, fruit, yogurt, homemade muffins and breads, and coffee/tea. They also hung out and told us about local history and their extensive collection of antiques. All in all, River Bend was the epitome of the B&B experience; an interesting house and interesting hosts. Sure their beds could have been more comfortable, but then it wouldn't have been in keeping with the revolutionary war theme.

No ropes across the furniture....you can enjoy life in Colonial times unfettered as did the 10 children who once lived here! Our bathroom was the former butter churn room, evidenced by the presence of butter churns. Our bed was comfortable and modern with top quality linens/bedding, as we dreamt of a bygone era in a room restored to its original glory. There's a children's oriented book on the night table in the parlor room (we slept here) where George Washington and dignitaries stayed in this tavern owned by war hero and landowner, Col. Benjamin Simonds in 1770, a founder of Williamstown. I read the history of the area and in the morning, owners Dave and Judy Loomis generously hosted us with a fantastic homemade breakfast including gems such as quince jam from quince grown on their farm, served with period silverware in the 1770 kitchen with the huge original fireplace and rare baking oven. They lovingly restored this home and made exciting discoveries about Colonial times during the process. Didn't miss a TV...we felt transported back in time and it was magical! This was the best part of our visit to Williamstown!

The bathroom was redone was very pretty with a round shower and mirror. The room was clean with some weathered furniture (a bit chipped and scuffed), but functional. Coffee in the morning was weak and breakfast left much to be desired, but at least it is offered. The door knob levers on the front of the doors were loose and the doors were not flush to the doorframe so it never felt fully closed. But that is a 4 star review for me. The 3 stars came when I got a follow up charge on my card a day later without warning, and when I called, the owner told me that I had been charged for a missing glass. I told him I did not have the glass and told him where to locate it (in fridge where I left it). He wasn't very nice about it and treated me like I did something wrong. He said he'd call me back and never did. Needless to say, I will not be back. I hope they find that glass.

The hotel was cute, convenient, comfortable, and super clean. Everything about our stay was perfect -- the room was nicely appointed, the bed was comfy, the shower had great water pressure (that's important to me!), the price was reasonable, there were drinks available in the office, and a nice complimentary continental breakfast with waffles was available in the morning until 10am. The room had both a small microwave and a mini-fridge. The best of all was the innkeepers; they were extremely welcoming and they went above and beyond to make our stay an enjoyable one. It made me very happy to support a small family-owned business, too. If you are traveling up in the Berkshires/Williamstown/North Adams area, you will be very happy with the Cozy Corner. We plan to stay there again when we come back to visit Mass MoCA in the Spring. Thank you, Cozy Corner!

Whatever. That's fine. This is a no frills, old school motel with some charming features. The manager, Joe, is very friendly and accommodating. Good at recommending places. Puts out a nice breakfast. The first room we were given smelled like cat pee so we requested another room. Joe took a whiff and agreed. So they do accept pets! Second room fine. We booked our reservation for 3 nights through Booking.com. On our day of check out we said goodbye to Joe so we know he knew we were checking out. Later we got a credit card bill for 4 nights! It took several phone calls to Joe (he didn't return calls) and when we finally got through he argued that we stayed 4 nights. Sent him the booking.com reservation showing we only booked for 3 nights. Finally the owner who lives in FL got involved and he also maintained we had reserved for 4 nights! It was totally ridiculous considering we had the booking.com reservation showing 3 nights. Finally we turned it over to booking.com to deal with them which involved several phone calls, sending our credit card statement, etc. Ultimately booking.com issued us a refund for the fourth night so guess they dealt with the management. So the bottom line is: OK to stay here but be sure to get a receipt when you check out! After writing this review, someone sent me the owner's Facebook link. Now I KNOW I'll never stay there again. What a creep. https://www.facebook.com/stephen.chindamo

The pond was a slough up behind the building well on its way to becoming a swamp. No one was in the office when we arrived (20 minutes after check-in time). We had to call someone and wait. The room was super dated with what-era-I-don't-even know wall paper and bed linens. You could not access cold water from the bathroom tap. Mold in the tiled grout. No coffee maker in the room. Screen door in need of repair and stuck hard. Front "porch" was an ill-defined slab of concrete featuring plastic chairs. Ugly and shabby. Not inviting. The best I can say? The room didn't stink and, no surprise, it was not expensive. I hadn't done my usual research before making a reservation or I NEVER WOULD HAVE SELECTED THIS PLACE. I can't believe they're still in business.

After looking at the room, we noticed the mini-refrigerator was not only unplugged, but the three-pronged (grounded) plug was incompatible with the socket nearest the refrigerator. Additionally, the TV plug didn't reach the socket. I went to the front desk to ask for assistance. The clerk said he would find a manager and have it taken care of. I told him we were eating dinner outside at the restaurant (with our dogs) and could be reached if they needed us for anything. After dinner, we returned to our room, but nothing had been addressed. I stopped by the office, but they had closed early. I called the front desk, and no one answered; I left a message explaining the problem. Later, we went to the restaurant bar, and the clerk who had "helped" us was there having drinks. At the bar, I asked the bartender for help, and the night manager stepped in and found an extension cord for me. We got the refrigerator to work, but the TV still didn't work. The room was dirty. There were two small green Solo cup shot glasses in the bathroom; we thought they were meant to be drinking glasses for the sink. But they had ashes in them and were clearly left behind (see picture). I called again the next day and stopped by the office, but once again, it was closed, and no one returned our call. On the day we checked out, I wanted to speak with someone about our experience, just to let them know about the problems we encountered. No one ever returned our calls. I tried to speak with them three times, but they never bothered to respond. For the price of the rooms, the service we received, and the cleanliness of the property, this inn is simply not worth the money. This was not our first time at the inn, but it will definitely be our last.

The breakfast that was included in it, though repetitive was fabulous and thoughtful. Bagels, cream cheese, lox, hard boiled eggs, yogurts, fresh juices, coffees and teas. We had 2 breakfasts and took the same things. Bagels, lox and cream cheese, OJ, coffee, eggs. There are a couple. of baked goods that were very disappointing. They should upgrade those definitely. The rooms were fine. We were automatically upgraded to a suite because we paid in advance and went mid-week. The bathroom was lovely, nothing to change. The hallways and rooms were a bit dated. Fresh paint, cool colors, but old. The room AC units were loud too. Was ok but wouldn't return. In the hallways there is great unusual art. Like what you would put into your own home which is cool and unusual. The colors they chose to decorate with were wonderful. But, for example, we had a painted old wooden floor with throw rugs. A bit uneven. Not something I'd ever put into our home. The grounds were very nice. It was nice weather when we were there, and we brought bathing suits but the pool was covered with leaves. They are expanding which is cool. Mass Moca is right there which is nice, and this was very centrally located which is also nice.
