Great all around. I called for an appointment before they opened - they answered the call and I had a same-day slot for 2. They were waiting for me, ready to go at my scheduled time. They are good at scheduling. They gave both of us the haircuts we asked for. They noticed little details that many hair stylists/ barbers miss. Good fading between my beard to side burns and my sides to top. My favorite part - straight razor on the back of the neck. One interesting tidbit: quietest hair cut I've ever had and there were 4 people all getting their hair cut at the same time. So if you don't like small talk during your cut, this is the place for you. Good ambiance. They have toys for kids in case you need to bring your kid with you. Only comment and it doesn't affect my decision to come back here, is that when I saw Uplake BARBERshop, I thought it was going to be some older white goy who got sick of retirement or some hipster. Super Quick, Amazing Fade, Great Rates Looked for a good barber on a Sunday before a trip. Found Uplake on Yelp, made an appointment, and came away very pleased. I'm usually very cautious about barbers. I've had a couple of atrocious experiences with beauticians, and now I look for the barber's license before I'll even sit down. And will leave if I don't see it. And will tell the person to stop if they start doing anything alarming. At Uplake, it was 100% positive. :) After walking in, the courteous crew asked if I wanted water and then had me sit down with a nice gentleman. He asked me what I was looking for and I shared my specifications. Off to the races... 25 minutes later, I'm done, the fade is sharp, everything is level, and I've paid half as much as I usually do. The people working are exceedingly humble, courteous, and grateful for the business. There's also a loyalty program for a discount off every 6th haircut. Will be back! read more

I have been coming to this barbershop since it opened. Nancy and Kevin are excellent and have always been receptive to any requests I have. Very detail oriented, always polite and friendly. 9/27/24 *Back on September 27th 2024 in Seattle Washington, I wrote down the names of the two owners of this business, but now, the information I had is gone. I am now stuck with a name I saw on a truck earlier today. The male who ended up cutting my hair will now be referred to as Sega. The lady who told me about this business will now be called Genesis. Back to the review at hand.* I had a party to go to the next day, and I want to get rid of the lumberjack look I had going on. Normally this facility get very busy and walkins are not always welcome. I was fortunately able to be taken in immediately. Sega listened to what I had in mind for my hair style and beard cut. Once established, Sega went to worked making me bald. The electric clippers felt great every time I get this done. However, what I did not expect was The Manscaped Dome Shaver Sega used on me. I have seen the advertisements for these items, but had not experienced what it feels like until now. The Dome Shave felt like I was getting a head massage without getting one nick/cut on my neck and head. I loved how the Dome Shaver conformed to my head and neck. My bald head was smooth and soft like my ass. My beard had a nice oval shape for my goatee. The last step was to dye my beard black when I went home. The barber shop was in immaculate order. The music selection was pleasant to listen too. The price for the service was great too. Talking to both barbers was pleasant too. Most importantly to me, the ambience had a nice cheerful feel to the shop. Genesis had informed me of when they opened their business, but as I stated earlier, the information I had written down has been lost. I had been going here to get my haircut for almost 1 year. Up until the last two haircuts Nancy did a phenomenal job! echoing some of the other positive reviews posted on Yelp. BUT after getting the exact same haircut for almost a year she suddenly forgot how to cut it. I had it cut on 2/7, and had to go back on 2/8 (Superbowl Sunday) to have it fixed. Top was too long, sides not blended, at all!..Perhaps the influx of new business is too much for her small shop. Bad Vibe, Staff is rude and dismissive of your haircut requests. I also had a similar experience of Yelp reviewer Mr M. The female barber next to me was constantly coughing and sneezing, not covering her mouth and no mask! The customer in her chair was clearly concerned and irritated as was I. Save your money, get it done right the first time. Go somewhere else and avoid getting sick! read more

I honestly downloaded yelp to write this review, this is like my first review ever, I went in with a reference photo and everything. i mentioned taking no length off only layering. I'm pretty convinced the barber who cut my hair had never heard that word before because he took almost 2 inches off and didn't ask me a single question the entire time. Update -- as of July 17, 2025 they still haven't replied to let me know they have changed their sick policy. 29 days... This is my first-ever negative review on Yelp. I usually let things slide, but this one really crossed a line. I've been coming here for a while and always had great experiences. Kevin is an excellent barber and has consistently done great work. This review is not about him. I came in on Monday, June 9th, and the barber working next to Kevin was clearly sick, sneezing constantly and not wearing a mask. What's worse is that the shop wouldn't open the door to let in any fresh air. A few days later, I came down with what turned into a nasty respiratory illness that I'm just now getting over. It's still in my lungs. I get that people need to work, but forcing sick employees to come in and exposing customers without taking even basic precautions is unacceptable. I'm genuinely disappointed. I want to keep supporting this shop, but something needs to change. read more

This place absolutely butchered my hair right before a vacation. The barber verified with me how much to cut off (about a half inch), then proceeded to cut about 2 inches off the top leaving me with something close to a buzz cut. At the end the owner apologized for the bad haircut and still asked me to pay, which I did only because I didn't want to be there a minute longer. Happy teenage boy and mom! I researched a few places before settling on Uplake and I'm so glad we did. My teenage son had a much loved first perm that was growing out and super nervous about getting a haircut that would be mocked at school. Nancy listened to what he wanted and even showed him a picture off her phone so he could visualize it and then she delivered. It's very high praise when a teenager says, "I would come back and trust her to cut my hair next time!" Also, I personally prefer not to pay $50 for a teenage haircut so really feel like $25 was great value and just as good as the more expensive haircut he got a while back from a fancy barber shop! My young adult son gets his mullet and beard cared for here and tonight I brought my young step sons, ages 6 and 9 in as well. They are great with kids! I've been at Uplake Barbershop 4 or 5 times now, most have been good. However I was here this afternoon and the barber doing my haircut did a terrible job. He kept sticking his fingers in my ear while he was cutting my hair which was very unpleasant. I was clear with him about what haircut I wanted, but towards the end he started shaving my beard which I had absolutely not asked for. Upon looking closer I also realized the rest of my haircut was looking bad too. I left the shop and had to go somewhere else to get the cut fixed and finished, but my beard was ruined and overall I was not able to get the haircut I wanted because the barber here did such a bad job. Very unhappy about it. It's sad because the other barbers I've seen at this shop before have given me nice haircuts and are very professional. But after my experience today, I do not recommend this barbershop and I will not be coming back. read more

I was excited to see a new barbershop open up nearby. I usually go to Rudy's, but it's not always convenient to drive to a location or to get an appointment there. Uplake has a great online booking system that was easy to use. When I arrived, the staff were friendly, and my cut started right on time. The stylist asked me what I wanted and followed my requests perfectly. She was fast but accurate, and my cut is as good as the more expensive ones I've received at Rudy's or Gary Manuel.
