I sat down in her chair, and she asked me what I wanted, which was a completely useless question because she did not listen to what I told her. I had a recording from my previous barber in Iowa explaining what to do with my hair as it's tricky to cut, and which included not using clippers for the hair itself and instead doing scissor-over-comb. What's the first thing she did? Grabbed the clippers and started buzzing my hair before I could stop her. "This is the same thing, only a different way." No, it's not. My haircut is AWFUL. I look like a mugshot of a serial killer now, and it will take at least two months before my hair is long enough to fix. Thank god for hats! I expected them to come back delighted but my husband said to me "don't ask me to go there again, the lady sucks" as soon as I opened the door. My husband said since my son didn't know how short he liked his hair cut so he suggested starting with #5. After that, husband saw that son's hair was still long so he asked if she could trim more. She said she could but she would charge for another cut ($15 more). My husband tried to tell her since it wasn't the length they wanted, she needed to cut more without charging extra. Besides the fact that she is super kind and seemingly a wonderful person, she cuts hair very well. She cut my hair exactly how I wanted it and made some recommendations to change my style a bit and it matched so well with my face/head shape and my haircut looks great. The location is tucked into a small shopping center, but it is extremely well kept and clean inside with plenty of parking. I should have got up and left after watching her cut 3 heads in 30 mins! I cut hair for 10 year. Worked at Marine bases, barbershops, and sports clips. Doesn't matter how cheap your prices are. To keep your clients coming back you give them a good service. Which sucked! My hair cut is simple. But you run your clipper once up the sides will not get every single hair. But no she passed up the sides once then blended the sides to the top. I like the taper look so to a hair cutter is simple but you still have to take your time. Then the top, finger length then blend it to the sides. I asked her to go through the top again she did but her attitude changed and she started to upset. I'm so upset about my haircut I'm shacking. So she when she was done she held up the mirror. One tip I would hand the mirror to the client and face the back of their heads towards the mirror. It shows all the flaws of the hair cut! Like many of you, I decided to go here based on reviews and I think I may have had a one off not so great experience? Willing to come back again as it is quick and inexpensive for a trim. As far as conversation goes, well If you like blunt people, Kim is the person for you but I felt like I was getting lectured on my highlights and why didn't I leave my hair alone to it's natural color and that's why it's so damaged. Although we never got our hair done here, we had our foot in the door. No customers present. My friend needed her hair untangled, washed and trimmed. At first owner said "you should be happy only one here because this will take time." And then she said "I won't make money on this" and refused us. Is that right of her? I don't think so. So we want to Phoenix hair salons and found one available. Not only did I pay the salon person the $65 cost but I tipped her $60 cash. I was able to walk right in and get my 5 year old a cut in 15 minutes. She gave me solid advice on the cut I wanted for my daughter (chin length bob) and then gave her a super cute cut. Pros- She's fast. She's direct - tells you the truth not what you want to hear. I had a couple of pics from Pinterest and she let me know that those adorable haircuts require full blowout and some curling and, yeah, there's no way I'm doing all of that before school. So she gave my girl something much more practical for easy maintenance for a fidgety 5 year old. Finally she gives a good haircut. Cons - she does not wash their hair, which honestly is fine. She sprays it to get it wet and then styles. Her bed side manner is blunt - but she is still friendly and polite. She's not a walk on egg shells kind of gal. I am very picky about my hair, (what can I say, I am a hairdresser's daughter). My father passed away a long time ago. If you are looking for a great hairdresser that does wonderful cuts, GO HERE! Kim's prices are more than reasonable and the salon is very clean. She runs her salon all by herself. She is fast, but not too fast, and does a really nice job. She is also a very nice person.
