Returned for a haircut after a Covid hiatus. Called and got a same day appointment at the time I desired. I waited 5 minutes when I arrived and was taken right back. She asked if she could wash my hair as it is very curly and easier to cut when wet and straightened. Tran explained how these kinds of haircuts work and I let her do her thing. WOW. She chose a cut that would suit my face shape and it looks SO much better than what I had before. I really love it! This isn't one of those salons that does free therapy or extra frills, and that worked just fine for me because it's a great price. There's nothing like waking up one more morning and deciding you need a hair cut... NOW! Unfortunately (and fortunately), my hairdresser isn't seeing clients yet so it was time to start over. I called Shear Envy at noon on a Saturday and they were able to schedule an appointment for 4 pm that same day. Score! I appreciated their helpfulness and the fact that they didn't laugh at me. Tran was my stylist and she was AMAZING! She worked off a photo I shared with her for inspiration. She took her time cutting, texturizing and styling it (see photo below--if you could have seen the "before" you'd be even more impressed). Side note, they are on top of their health and safety game too! Tran wore and mask and shield. I went to Shear Envy a week ago, I was disappointed that the gal told me she couldn't do the cut and style I asked for. The cut isn't exactly what I wanted but now with a week gone by I am actually kind of liking the cut. I do think that the gal that did my hair cut really needs to check her attitude. She is what I would call too full of herself. She needs to be more thoughtful and treat her customers nicer. She did not offer a shampoo or offer to style my hair. Nice salon, very clean but the service is not friendly. I arrived and there were no other customers in the place at the time. The lady who is never very friendly, seated me in the chair and was getting ready to start. Then her next appt arrived 10 minutes early and she actually asked me to get out of the chair so she could serve the lady who arrived early. I even asked the customer when her appt was and she said it wasn't for another 10 minutes. Why wouldn't the stylist just finish my hair cut? It would have only taken 10 minutes anyway. I've never actually been told, sorry you're going to have to get up out of the chair and wait after I've already been seated. Seemed really cold to me. read more

Went twice and both times I found the hairdresser to be cold and a touch rude. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and scheduled a second visit. She had the nerve to tell me that what I was requesting was outdated and that no one asked for that style anymore. I had no idea a simple layering would evoke that kind of attitude. I love this place! The service is fantastic and I left as a happy customer. The salon looks small from the outside, but is surprisingly big when you walk in. The interior is nice and clean. My stylist listened to what I wanted and was pretty quick at cutting, but did not sacrifice her speed for quality. The price for women's haircut ($25) is more than reasonable considering the quality cut you get. If you're looking for a more affordable and casual salon, this is the place to go. I know how I want my hair to look; Tran completely ignored what I said: hair too short over my ears, razor to the back of my neck, and didn't tell me the shampoo was $5. until I was paying. Tran had no smile or pleasure welcome to customers & felt she was not in good mood when she perform the entire treatment.I was visiting Bothell from California,I indeed shampoo & well blow dry.Tran said that it was $10;however after I asked to set my hair as the way I came in which was bob head style.She said that would be "style" and would be extra charge.I agreed.She then used the instant-heat hair straightener to set my hair with her bad mood attitude.I was charged $25 when I walk out the salon.Go somewhere else to receive enjoyable hair treatment. read more

I had the worst haircut of my life here recently. I walked in and made an appointment for 5pm. I was excited all day because of the good reviews and cheap price. When I got in I waited and sat down to look at all the pictures I had prepared. I was going for a indie rocker chick hairstyle with long bangs, I brought in multiple pictures of Karen O. My first complaint is that the woman who cut my hair (I believe her name is Tran) would hardly listen to me or even look at the pictures I brought with me. She told me I had to sit down in her stylist chair, which made it even more difficult to try explaining how I wanted my hair to be cut. I had a very hard time trying to communicate what I wanted my hair to look like because she seemed to be in a hurry. She kept saying the pictures I brought wouldn't help her because they didn't show the back of the hair. It all happened so quickly, in the middle of her cutting my hair, she made me tell her how to cut the back. Flustered, I quickly said I wanted to try keeping it longer, and since I'm not a hair stylist, I said out of frustration, make it one length. Not only does my hair look nothing like the pictures, she cut my hair so quickly that she didn't even try to see where my hair falls naturally when she cut my bangs. My bangs are extremely crooked and short. I did not ask for short bangs, the pictures I brought in had long bangs, but she cut them short. Her reason was I wear glasses and the bangs would hit them if they were long. I never minded if my bangs hit my glasses before and did not think they would be this short. The single length of hair in the back looks ridiculous. The hair that framed my face was sloppy. The hair stylist that I usually see is really great, I'm used to her taking great care and spending the time needed with me before each cut to figure out what I want my hair to look like and if the cut I want would work with my hair type. I called Tran back a few days later telling her that my bangs are crooked and that the hair framing my face was messy. I went back in to get it fixed but all she did was clean up the hair that frames my face. She says that my bangs are crooked because of my widows peak, but after looking in the mirror many times and pulling my bangs down straight, I can clearly see that she definitely made my bangs crooked. She asked if I wanted her to pull more hair from the back forward to be cut as bangs so that she could cover up my crooked bangs. I said no. I asked her to try fixing the single length hair in the back because it looks heavy. She refused to, saying I was asking for a whole new hair style which would cost $45 extra. This experience felt borderline extortion, give someone a very bad haircut and ask for even more money than the original cut to fix it. When I'm not upset that my hair was ruined, I laugh about how funny I look because hey.... Hair will always grow back. I highly recommend Kimme at Illusion Hair Studio in Woodinville, Kimme even cuts my daughters curly hair perfectly. read more
