I hate giving one star reviews, but sometimes they are called for. First, the haircut here was fine. The barbers/owners here know how to cut men's hair--at least in short styles. So, that's the good. The bad is they have little regard for the health and safety of their customers. They are not following the Phase 2 re-opening guideline for the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, they will tell you that all the restrictions are onerous and ridiculous. They follow a few of them. Hesitatingly, begrudgingly, and inconsistently. Let me point out the ones I am aware of. First, you have to wait to enter and have to wear a mask to enter. I was asked to do both. That's good. But this apparently doesn't apply if you're a buddy who owns a nearby window tinting business. Then you can just waltz into the shop unchallenged without wearing a mask, sit facing the customers who are getting haircuts, and speak loudly across the room to the barber (who will respond in like kind). Oh, and the barber and the customer are probably not wearing masks. And then you can let the next customer in to wait in the shop too. Why not. You already blew it with your autoglass tinting buddy, so why not just let the next customer wait inside the shop too. At least that customer kept his mask on while waiting. Second, they make customers remove their masks before cutting their hair and leave the mask off the entire time. And the barber either is not wearing a mask or is wearing it not covering their nose because wearing a mask "fogs up glasses" on the barber and just "can't be done" while cutting hair. Right. That's why other shops that actually care are doing it. Only on my insistence did the barber finally put on his mask--with his nose out. Third, they aren't changing and washing capes between every customers. Just every other customer. Money savings and all you know. They did tell me they bought more capes but that they still use one for two customers before changing them. Fourth, they are schedule too tightly. They tend to run behind, so there is overlap in customers arriving and leaving. A lot of overlap since they are using both barber chairs in the shop actively. And they don't enforce the wait outside rule (see first point). Fifth, they aren't cleaning as they should. When I went to sit down in the chair, there was hair (big chunks) on the arm. Oh, look, it's on BOTH arms. Barber makes up some excuse that he blew that off and the hair must have somehow resettled on the arm--oh, make that arms. Sure. Big chunks of wet hair are like that--delicate feathers that can float around--NOT. Barber had me get up, blew it off, and finally cleaned the arms too with a Clorox wipe. I guess the wipes are just for customers who complain. I did not feel safe at all getting my hair cut here, and I probably should have gotten up and left when I saw hair on the chair and the barbers not wearing their masks (or wearing them in a way that negates protection). I hope I do not catch COVID-19 from my visit here. But I should not have to have that fear. No one--regardless of age or any other factor--should. The shop should care enough to follow the health department guidelines and rules strictly if they are going to re-open. They do not. I will not be returning, no matter how good the haircuts are. read more

This place gave a really great cut to my husband once or twice but the last few ones were awful. One of the worst cuts I've seen. Bummer. See the photos for yourself. Now my husband is in the bathroom trying to fix it. Yikes! The new woman working there however, did a great job with my sons cut! She gets 4/5 in my book. Also to note: owners don't wear masks! Reporting them for that. Not cool. Especially with how many customers come in and close in proximity you have to be. read more

I live in the area and decided to give this place a try. Service was not great. They chastised me for sweating a bit and told me to "not walk there" again. Parking is extremely limited in the area and non existent at the location so I don't know what they expect. They could have worn gloves, given me something to wipe off with, or even something to drink but instead they just used compressed air on me and complained like that was going to help. I can forgive all that if they managed to do a good job but the next day I realized the trim they gave me wasn't even done right. I won't go again and I do not recommend it to anyone. read more

Nice guys, but horrible haircut. I've never left a review for a barber, if it's not perfect, it will grow out. But this was bad. I said I wanted it short, and told him to let the shape of my head dictate the cut (a good barber does this). That's not what happened, he practically shaved all around my head. He also nicked my face with his straight razor. read more

Best barber shop that I've found in the Seattle area. I went to their Bothell shop first, and Albert hooked it up. They just opened their second shop in Woodinville, and it does not disappoint! Great location, awesome setup inside. Todd and Albert give great cuts and keep you entertained the whole time. I tried different places but found I like the cut I received from Albert. the entire crew seem like a fun yet professional group. because the cut was good I returned. My 11 year old son and I love this place. Laid back and good banter. We went there today, Kevin was all booked up so we went with Todd for the first time. My sons hair cut was just ok this time (not up to Kevin's standard). However, that's not the issue seems they have a new policy of sorts where Todd told us that he doesn't cut hair for people wearing masks. Last time we were there masks were totally acceptable. As I say the hair cut was ok, a little rushed all done in less than 10 mins. It's so unfortunate as my son really enjoys going there and the old barber shop vibe; but he and his little sister are unvaccinated so this will have to be our last visit there for a while. read more

Was looking for a new barber closer to home ... this won't be it. Haircut was just okay, but the deciding factor was the disregard for customers. The older, bearded barber in the shop was constantly pulling his mask completely away from his mouth to make sure everyone could hear more of his loud, profane, and uninformed political ramblings. Todd and the guys over a Crooks & Kings do an amazing job. Old school barbershop vibe with a modern take on cuts. My family has owned and operated barbershops since I was a kid so I'm very critical when it comes to my haircuts and Todd and the guys do excellent work. Their prices are more than fair and the service is top notch. My hair has always been on point and the fades always grow back in great for a clean up to keep me looking how I want. I started chemotherapy a few weeks ago and my hair finally started to fall out....in huge handfuls. I called and was able to get an appointment the same day. As a woman walking into a barber shop, getting my head shaved because of chemo, I was uncomfortable to say the least. Todd was awesome from the time I spoke to him on the phone. He was sensitive and compassionate to the situation and was so nice and encouraging. He has a great sense of humor and I'm so glad this is the shop I found to go through this experience. Todd shared he had recently done the same thing for a friend's mom and for his own mom at one time. I love the shop decor and Todd and his staff are wonderful. I followed Todd here from his last place and love the new shop. It was clean and light and the artwork/ambiance was comfortable and relaxed. This was my first haircut since the 'Rona struck and Todd did an amazing job. I showed him a picture and he made my hair look that way (my wife said she got butterflies from it!!) This review is coming on the heels of a previous 1 star review which cast some doubt on their cleanliness. While I was there, there was never more than 1 client to a barber at a time (50% capacity per regulations) and I watched them have a guy wait outside for his appointment so that he's not sitting in the shop (also per regulations). They cleaned the shop multiple times while I was there and if there was some hair on the chair for the 1 star reviewer it's probably because they use compressed air to keep the floors tidy. They also said that I could keep the mask on if I wanted or take it off (very hard to cut hair with a strap in the way) but I never felt uncomfortable about it so I left it off. If your barber coughs on your head (even in the pre-corona world) you should probably find someone else. These guys are class acts and take their craft seriously. If you're the kind of person who thinks that a piece of paper in front of your face will save your life, perhaps you'd be more comfortable elsewhere. If you want a fucking good haircut and some good dudes to talk to while you're there this is your place. I'll be going back for sure and recommending to others. read more

I had something come up last minute needed a cut. my normal barber was already booked but having seen Crooks & Kings recently opened up in downtown Bothell I figured I'd call and see if they had any same day openings. I called at 11 and was able to get scheduled for noon. Kevin asked questions clarifying exactly how I like my haircut and made me feel the sort of comfort you usually don't have when trying out a new barber. Overall I was extremely pleased with the service I received. Although slightly more than most barbershops ($30 pre tip) i will definitely come back. 10/10 recommend. read more
