Thanks Yelp! This was a great place to pick up a take-back-home (or take-back-to-the-motel, as the case may be) supper. The portions are HUGE, and delicious. We got the Pad Thai with chicken -small size- and it fed us both with leftovers! We also got a small beef stir fry, which was good - but not as good as the pad thai. Needless to say, with the two dishes, we would have had enough for dinner tonight as well- if only we weren't on the road... Next time we're in Dickinson, we know where we'll be eating! read more

The restaurant is a small hole in the wall place which usually means the food is hit or miss and this one is sorely a miss. The owner Upin is a nice lady and seems to have her own flare of cooking style but when it comes to the taste of the food it seems like she has lost her touch. I can understand as the food quality here in Dickinson ND isn't very high. If you do eat out anywhere, don't expect the food to be anywhere close to amazing. You'll get the bland normal to be expected flavors and if you have no taste buds then you'll do fine eating here and everywhere else in this town. Don't let the humble storefront scare you off. The food is authentic and the portions are big. I'm used to a lot more peanut sauce on my pad thai, but the green curry was amazing. Stayed the evening in Dickinson and saw Upin Thai on the list of dinner spots. We thoroughly enjoyed it! Had the yum yum chicken salad, sweet & sour pork, chicken fried rice and beef pad Thai with egg rolls. Very flavorful and filling! The food was made to order so it took some time but the chef was very friendly, talking about the recent weather as well as the movie playing on the tv (Happy Gilmore). The gent that took our order was very helpful and answered all our questions about the items on the menu. We got the food to go and munched it back at the hotel. Would recommend this spot to anyone looking for some tasty Thai! read more

Not the worst pad Thai I've ever had but very far from the best. Clearly a take out joint, which was fine because I planned to take back to hotel anyway. Have never seen carrots and cabbage in pad Thai so I ordered without. Asked for likes and they had none, weird, asked for light green onion and got extra. Asked for extra spicy and got med at best. They had a good taste so I gave a 2star but it was not pad Thai flavor. Sweet soy noodles maybe with the sauce they give you it had a better flavor. Coconut juice was good. read more

Written 1/26/16 I am a vegetarian and the Cook/owner was most willing to change anything on the menu to accommodate my dietary needs. I ordered a large Pad Thai noodles and yellow curry both were very good I will come again. My wife would ask next time not to have the black pepper on the Pad Thai added but said flavors, texture and food cooked was really good. (She doesn't do any spices). The yellow curry was really nice. Veggies were perfect and flavor was was really good. It was a very large portion. Owner said that his mom started the restaurant but he has taken it over completely and has been there for seven years. It's a very small place, on the left not far from the RxR track underpass heading south out of town. Seating is very limited i.e.: one table that seats 4 and bar stools around the front of the store. It appeared that most orders were called in to go. During the time that I waited for my food there was a steady stream of customers coming in and all highly recommended the food. Orders were ready and waiting on each costumer to pickup. One customer even stated that she liked some things that were not even on their menu. The owner/cook also mentioned that in the last two weeks they have a new lunch menu and dinner menu too that just came out. He stated that is is continuing to add new things to the menu on a regular basis. Again the helping size was very generous. This is coming from someone that eats a lot of food. Lol. I got a take out order that came in a foam box and curry came in large quart size (?) plastic container with lid that was filled to the very top. I have been in Dickinson for a few years now. I liked to go to Upin Thai, every now and then, to get food. I went in one day, and Upin was working the kitchen and preparing the food as usual. There was anothe rlady helping prepare the food for her in back. I liked the fact, they were wearing gloves. Or so I thought. The lady helping Upin, rang in my order (using the same gloves preparing food) pressing the buttons on the cash register and then handling money (Dollars, change, etc). After she gave my food to me, (While wearing the same gloves) went back to the kitchen area and started to prepare food. If I were a health inspector, I would have given the place a "C". That is being modest. Yes the food is "good". It is take out thai food for goodnes sake. I was not pleased seeing that, and have not been ever since. I am not bashing the place, by any means, but that just made me shake my head in disgust. Who knows what else they were touching or picking up, while wearing those gloves. -North Dakota seriously needs Food Health Inspectors. Not sure if they have any in this area. read more

Hubby had the Shrimp Pad Thai and it was wonderful. It was perfectly spicy and not too heavy. I, being a huge fan of ginger, ordered the Ginger Chicken and couldn't stop eating. It is that good. They are by no means stingy with the servings either. Mine came with more than enough chicken. I enjoyed the wait as well. It's a small place with a giant personality. They are non-stop busy and watching Upin cook is great! I was amazed at how busy they were and how she was never overwhelmed. This place is not just hype. Actually, I don't think there is any hype about it, its tucked away in the south part of town and looks more than just quaint. The store front does not do whats inside justice. If you just want the best food you can get in town, period, this is it, no frills. The pad thai is excellent, its not quite like anything else I've ever tried. There are a few different flavors and textures going on that work amazingly well together. The Tom Kah (coconut soup) is also an excellent dish, you can seriously drink the broth and it lives on its own as a very great flavor. This dish is typically very spicy, with a meat stewed in the coconut base, and this is an amazing example of it. Perhaps the best part of the experience is the wonderful proprietor of this establishment, a small native thai woman who truly has a gift behind a stove. You will not be disappointed by the dishes served here. Setting is fairly non-existent, but you can catch your meal at the wrap around bar type seating in house if you care to. read more

Eek! Methinks not... First off, Upin is a very kind lady. They were very friendly and kind while I waited for my food. So, the one star you see is solely based on personality and being able to walk through the doors. However, the pad Thai was absolutely horrible. I have never seen or tasted pad Thai that is so bland and dry. I have seen the reviews that rave about the food here, but I just do not see it. My recommendation is to bring the pad Thai home, add in extra ingredients - YouTube has great ideas for veggies and spices to add. Never again will I purchase pad Thai. Worst Pad Thai I have ever had. My wife and I were driving through and looking for some simple Asian food. Basically, stir fried rice noodles with no sort of seasoning or flavor. I absolutely love Upin Thai! My wife picked up some beef pad thai for me one night on her way home from work and I fell in LOVE with it. After that I went to pick some up myself and was incredibly satisfied with the chick pad thai as well. I asked for both of them to be Spicy and i definitely got what I was looking for! It was amazing! The location is less desirable but the food is SO damn good it doesn't matter. Best thing to do is get a to-go order and eat that Thai bliss @ home. read more

This is a small hole in the wall business, their storefront doesn't do it any justice! Some of the best Thai food I have ever had in my life!!! There isn't really any seating so going their to eat isn't a very good idea. This is mostly a take-out resturant which isn't a bad thing. They are usually always very busy so you should prepare to waite a good 10-30mins on your order depending on when you either call in or go there to order food. I usually call ahead and don't have too bad of a wait time. But believe me it is worth the wait. They have reasonable prices for the amount of food you get. I usually always get their chicken pad thai (large) and that feeds me for lunch and dinner. You can get it with or without the veggies if you have allergies like I do. Also you can tell them how spicy you would like the noodles, they can get pretty spicy. Also be patient with the owner, Upin is very friendly and will chat with you while you wait for either her or one of her helpers to make your food. Her english is pretty good/ok so just be patient with her she is one of the friendliest persons I know! Hope you will step out of your comfort zone and give this place a try because it is well worth it!!!! read more
