Very nice and friendly people and good food And Thai tea they were even open on thanksgiving nice place to eat read more

We got the pad Thai with pork and the drunken noodles with chicken. It was pretty tasteless, so disappointing. Not the worst I've ever had but far from the best. The only positive thing I can say is that the noodles were cooked well. read more

Was out tooling around looking over the lay of the land and seeing what was around. Was beginning to feel a bit peckish, so I began to contemplate a choice of eating establishment. Driving up 22 I passes a place and the sign caught my eye. UPIN NO SPICE SPICE TI. Partially faded and almost hidden, the open sign in the widow was on so I whipped the old jeep around and pulled in. First off let me say that if you are looking for an elegant sit down restaurant and haute cuisine, you will be disappointed in Upin. Her place is dominated by the kitchen and while they have two tables, the place is a take out place and if you eat there you are still getting your food in take out containers. If though, you are the type of person that likes really good Ti food. You are in luck! The Pad Ti is awesome and you get enough for at least two meals . The egg rolls are hand made, not frozen. You know what the best part is? The owner, and cook Upin talks to you while she cook your meal! I swear it's like eating at your old Tiland aunts house who loves you. I don't have an aunt from Tiland, but after meeting Upin I kind of feel like I've missed out on something special, and wish that I did. read more

The food here is okay nowadays, better than before. I do enjoy talking to the owner and she does make an amazing seafood curry that burns the HECK out of everything inside you. I'm still not the biggest fan of most of the menu but I still drop in from time to time. read more

The man and woman working were both so nice and hospitable and the food was all really amazing

Very good food, everything is fresh and tastes delicious. The elderly lady that gave me my food was very kind and friendly. 10/10

Absolutely terrible food. To call this Thai food is a grave injustice to the wondrous food that is Thai. Not only overpriced, but the chicken genuinely made me vomit. I'm not joking. I can't, with good conscience, recommend a single dish here. I highly advise diverting and going to one of the more traditional American cuisines in town. TLDR: Don't go here. Terrible food. Overpriced. Not Thai. read more

Eggs rolls were tasty but greasy. Huge take out, seating for 3 at a table, 7 at the rail along the window. Shrimp Fried Rice tasty but greasy as well??? Pad Thai Noodles are the real deal. Love it, will come back. read more

Upin - Check in area and kitchen at Upin Thai - Thai Near Me - Dickinson, North Dakota

Amazing place. The people that get it-get it. Good food. Good portions. Funny workers. Just passing through but will stop again if I am ever here again read more

Upin was a quick stop for food as my family passed through Dickenson. The restaurant is small and cramped. It doesn't lend itself to dining in, as we discovered when we decided we wanted to eat before we headed back on the road. There were seats lined around a counter-height bar and one table with two chairs. It was noted that Upin is better known as a takeout restaurant as our group of six sat separated. The kitchen is in plain view. This was nice though, because it was demonstrated that orders are prepared fresh as they are placed. The girl who took our order behind the counter was very attentive and sweet. Kudos to her for great customer service. However, the food here was meh. The chicken fried rice got a thumbs up from my son. On the other hand, the Thai chicken salad was far different than the ones I've had at other Thai restaurants. I understand that each has their own rendition but this was far off. When you think of salad, you think a medley of vegetables consisting mainly of chilled greens. When we were brought our food, I thought it wasn't what we had ordered. The girl confirmed it was indeed Thai salad. What we were given was a stir fried entree with chicken, bell peppers, onions and an acidic sauce served with two scoops of rice. The "salad" had interesting variances of temperature with both warm and cold pockets. The pad thai was more disappointing. You typically can expect a degree of consistency when ordering this from Thai restaurants. Upin's lacked the full-embodied flavor denoting what I've become familiar as pad thai. Each of us from our group had a taste and agreed. While there were generous portions of chicken, the entree was bland and greasy. The remainder of the large serving went untouched until I brought it home and revitalized it myself with the seasonings it was missing. Upin is an "okay" restaurant. The menus could use some work to describe the renditions of each entree. I wouldn't recommend Upin to those who've had and love Thai cuisine. But, I can appreciate how it provides variety for the locals in Dickenson. read more

Upin - Upin Thai's rendition of Thai "salad" - Thai Near Me - Dickinson, North Dakota

Although they don't technically have vegetarian curries on the menu, and they don't have tofu, they were able to make some wonderful vegetarian curries for us. We had the massaman curry. The sauce was nice and mild, and really complimented the potatoes and carrots. We also ordered the panang curry, and we love the sauce! The servings were extremely large. We split one curry, and saved the other for later. Definitely worth a try if you are in Dickinson! read more

Very good Masaman Curry this evening. Pleasantly steamed rice on the side. The curry was perfectly spiced and the consistency was just right. It was really enough for two or three people easily, but I was a party of one, for take-out. The ambiance is not conducive to eating in or for date nights, although I'm not sure what those are any more, which is why only 4 stars and not five. If I go by the food only, easily a 5-star take-out. read more

This place came highly recommended from a friend in Minneapolis. We stopped there when passing through last year and I was not very impressed at all. There are only a couple tables available for eating so it's really a take-out place. We had some classic Thai dishes and none were particularly good. The prices are not cheap and it adds up really quick when ordering more than one or two things. The place seems kind of dirty too...I found myself looking around to perhaps see something I did not want to see. I'm sure it's plenty clean but it just seemed a little grimy. I was passing through again last week and gave it another try. I ordered pork fried rice and pork egg rolls. Over $16! I will say the eggrolls were very good but at over $6 for three small eggrolls the value is not good even though they taste good. The fried rice, on the other hand, was absolutely horrible. I did not eat it because it was brutal. I would not have eaten it if it was free. It was sticky and flavorless and certainly did not approach any expectations of what fried rice ought to be. A total fail. I cannot recommend Upin Thai after my experience over two visits. And if you go please stay away from the fried rice. It'll make you want to never eat fried rice again. read more

I was looking for real Thai food. no, for the price not, We, want real Thai food. With real veggies and real meat. More than 6 shrimp. Cook real Thai food. You may. Be a hit.. We are not fake. Everything here is amazing. Easily the best take out in town, which is tragic because Upin Thai is barely recognizable as a business from the outside. If you can get past the deteriorating decor, this place is for you. Most dishes can be ordered "spicy or no-spicy" on a scale of 1-10. I usually go for an 8. Seriously, go here and get the Pad Thai, Red Curry, Yum Yum Chicken, or ANYTHING. You will not be disappointed. She also sells her own sweet and sour sauce for $5 which is legendary. read more

Yes it is small, yes there is really no place to eat inside. But it is authentic, incredibly tasty and the staff and owner are very personable, humble and very good at their art. I wouldn't change anything about Upin Thai- please support the local non-chain businesses like this in Dickinson. We need more of these! Fantastic food and service. I've tried almost everything on the menu and it is all great. Personally, the pad thai and spicy beef are my favorites. The waleye was very tasty - for those who are a little more adventurous. easily 5 stars. read more

Upin - a car parked in front of a building - Thai Near Me - Dickinson, North Dakota

Friendly service and good Thai in ND? Yes, upin thai has good food and the service to match. Prices were reasonable at 9-12$ per dish. The flavors were more mellow but is toned down for local tastes and they give you small cups of spice to augment. The service was friendly and courteous. Biggest issue is w a party of 9 we overshot the 8 seats they had. It is not upscale but decent for the area. read more

Don't be deceived by the restaurant's humble appearance, the food is tasty and there is plenty of it. The location is very small; there is a counter type area where you could eat but I'd suggest taking your dinner home. I had the sweet and sour chicken dish. The small order was a good size; could easily fed two people. I got two meals out of it. The dish wasn't too spicy which I like but you could ask for the spicy version when you order. The menu isn't too extensive but covers all the basics. Pad Thai, spring rolls, hot and sour, sweet and sour etc. The service is quick and friendly and my order was up in 15 minutes when I was a walk in order on a Friday night. read more

Last year I would of had given the place 5 stars but lately the place has been slacking. The food has slowly gotten worse and they rarely have any spring rolls. The hours that they are open has become even more sporadic than normal. I have noticed that the lady that owns the place is out more and that her son and his friends are in there more often than not. I don't know if the most recent problems are from her lack of presence or not but something is not the same. read more

Was passing through Dickinson and had heard about Upin Thai from a friend. Stopped in around noon on a Saturday. Since I was the lone customer, I got to chat with the owner, a nice Thai lady, while she cooked my meal. The food was fabulous. Just fabulous. I used to date a Thai girl a million years ago, and I can tell you that Upin Thai's food is legit. Upin has very limited seating, so I had to eat in the corner while standing. It was still worth it. I'd order to go from here four-five times a week if I lived in Dickinson. Take a chance, you won't regret it. read more

One of the few Thai restaurants in central/western North Dakota, and it's surprisingly good. Portions are large enough to split into two meals and reasonably priced. Pad Thai was delicious. The sauce was lighter than most I've usually had, which was a nice surprise. Order ahead of time though - there are some barstools inside, but it's mainly a take-out place and it takes a little while for them to make the food. Worth it! read more

Upin - Vegetable Pad Thai, with chicken egg roll and Thai tea - Thai Near Me - Dickinson, North Dakota

I don't get it, all these raving good reviews on their food but then again this is Dickinson ND. There were flies in the restaurant and the server was picking his nose while taking an order on the phone!!! I had the beef stir fry and there was nothing special about it. I will give a 4 star for friendliness ... The owner is super nice and chatted with me while I waited, the wait time was approx 14mins and I was the only one in the restaurant at the time. If you do decide to go here and you are the 3rd-4th or beyond grab something to read . read more

Delicious Thai food. Some of the best I have had. The place is a hole in the wall. The only thing keeping me from giving them 5 stars is their lack of seating. They have 5 barstools up against a rail you could eat at if you wanted. I would consider it carry out only. I really liked the fact that you could see the cook and she was adding spices right out of a jar. No premade sauces here. Not much flexiblity in their menu. One person in my party wanted a certain dish with pork instead of chicken or beef, apparently that was not possible. Give it a try you will be surprised after looking at the place. They even have fresh brewed Thai Tea. read more

Well, if you're dining in and like salt. You'll find enough of the sodium in both the food and the staff. We might've come on a bad day, but the customer service could use some warming up. Heavy handed with the fish sauce, heat and salt. Potatoes in the curry were undercooked. Rice over done. The peanuts tasted like the dry roasted salted kind since they were not the soft peanutty flavor morsels found in other massaman curry dishes. The meal just wasn't the comfort food I was seeking this cold rainy day in ND. read more

Thank you Yelpers! All of the reviews are right on. The place is a hole in the wall, but the food is great. I called in my order, and based on reviews, got pork pad thai, yum yum chicken (both spicy) and shrimp spring rolls. When I arrived, the place was crowded with several groups waiting. My food wasn't ready and I found out they were out of spring rolls. Bummer. The 2 small orders fed my co-worker and I for dinner with enough for lunch the next day. The pad thai was a little dry and definitely needed more of the sauce that came with it. But the flavor was fantastic with just the right kick. The yum yum chicken had a peppery, curry sauciness that made it hard to put my fork down. If you are in the area, check this place out! read more

I ordered the Sweet and sour pork with rice for take out. It's basically sweet and sour soup. The pork is not breaded and all the veggies are swimming in sauce. The Thai tea has too much tea and not enough milk. They don't know Thai food. I also ordered the chicken pad Thai but I won't set my expectations too high. I'd pass on this restaurant. It's not suited well for more than call in and pick up place. I wouldn't go there again. read more

Upin - Pepper Steak Pad Thai - Thai Near Me - Dickinson, North Dakota

I had the pad Thai and it was great. A small is a huge portion. Also it is takeout so order ahead of time. Will definitely eat here again.

Not really a place to sit and eat. They did have 2 small tables, but not the best environment to sit and eat in. Great to take back to the hotel if you are on the road and enjoy. The food was great and the portions were generous, enough to have leftovers the next day. The food is prepared fresh and it tastes like it. The lady that cooks it is as friendly as can be. It was so good, we went back the next day. They only take cash, so be prepared for that. We had chicken pad Thai, coconut shrimp soup, Thai tea and the spiced pineapple chunks. It was all great. Dont judge this book by its cover. The 5 stars are for the food. If you need a fancy pancy restaurant for 5 stars, keep driving. read more

I have to say that I was not impressed with this place the first few times I ate here. It was run very inefficiently to the point where call in orders were taking an hour and a half when promised 20 minutes. The food was also inconsistently made. Over the last several months it has done a complete 180! In fact, it's one of my favorite places to eat now. The yum yum chicken is very good. I also love the chicken fried rice. Call in orders are always ready when we arrive to pick them up. read more

I've been in Dickinson a couple months and thought about trying Upin Thai and was a little Leery, my wife and I love Thai food and have eaten it all over the country. Menu is limited, flavors don't scream Thai food at all, this is more like an over priced fast food take out than traditional Thai food. We will dive the 100 miles into the city and try again. read more

Excellent food---just wish they had a good place to sit since we are from out of town & can't really carry out... Did NOT like the Thai Tea...yuck! read more

3 Stars... not a bad review, just an okay one. I must say, I'm a HUGE fan of thee chicken/beef egg rolls..and the sweet sour sauce is heavenly. I also LOVE their Thai Tea. BUT...... 1. Chicken pad thai is seriously lacking - thai food should have SPICE. This is just blah. 2. Sweet & Sour chicken - horrible. All broth, and an over abundance of rice you don't know what to do with. 4. Curry.... ummmmmmmm are we sure this is even curry? 3. Wontons - greasy 4. Price - Expensive. Granted, they give you ridiculously large portions, but I've never walked out of there less than $15 for 1 "small" meal. 5. Parking - ugh.... need I say more? Upin Thai... average. I've definitely had BETTER. read more

Came to this place with a friend of mine who recomended it. Upon arrival it was a small location and probably sits 3-4 people inside! Who picked up our food and everything was there.
