When my job changed to in-office work, I needed to find doggy daycare for my golden retriever, DB…read moreCooper. He'd only ever been with me and an occasional dog walker, and I knew a full day alone wouldn't be good for him. Then I found Mary Ellen's "Wag Along Pet Care" - a doggy daycare run out of her home. They also offer overnight boarding, which is a huge bonus since my new job requires travel. Wag Along has become Cooper's true home-away-from-home, and that's exactly what I wanted-- not some kennel tucked into a light-industrial office complex. Drop-off and pick-up are a snap, with a predictable routine that puts both of us at ease. But the best part? Mary Ellen is some kind of magical dog whisperer. Every time I pick Cooper up, the dogs in her care are all calm and content. Since starting at Wag Along, Cooper has begun wagging his tail in his sleep, something I'd never seen before. Wag Along, indeed! He's even learned to use a doggy door, which is no small feat for a dog who's reluctant to jump into new things. And Mary Ellen sends daily photos or videos, whether he's playing in the yard or lounging on the couch. Cooper has been at Wag Along for both daycare and boarding, and the experience has been wonderful. Mary Ellen is flexible, kind, professional, and obviously gifted with dogs. Cooper always comes home happy and tired... the sign of a truly great day.

This review is delayed, but I never forgot the stress and horrors Mary Ellen put me through. I had a delayed flight, and she threw a fit that I would be unable to pick up my dog in the afternoon, as originally planned, but instead that I would pick my dog up first thing in the morning. When I showed up in the morning, Mary Ellen was outside organizing her recycling and refused to make eye contact with me, or say hello. My dog, she was locked in a kennel outside the gate with all her stuff. Immediately I noticed my dog had some white sticky goo on her backside, and when I got home I immediately bathed her. When I texted Mary Ellen to ask what that was, she said it was sap. I'm not even sure if she has a tree in her backyard. I worried (and still do) that something terrible had happened to my dog. And then, she had the gall to text me back and say I owed her an extra $25!!! Exhausted and stressed, and having seen how unstable and temperamental she is, I paid her in order to not deal with her anymore. Please note - the prices on her website are not accurate. There's a handful of negative reviews on her Yelp and Google reviews. These reviews are consistent outlining her cruel behavior to pet owners entrusting their dogs in her care, and lack of patience and respect - this woman is not well. Please consider that only because the negative reviews are few, doesn't mean they're not true.

Here are the things I like about boarding with Jing! / Gini: 1) Gini is always considering what my dog needs to feel comfortable when she first starts boarding. 2) Gini has a very calm but loving vibe and my dog loves this. 3) Gini is always easy to contact and set up a stay. 4) Her house is very clean and dog proof and she has a large yard for tiny dog adventures. 5) Gini sends me great photos of my tiny girl during the stay which is no small feat since my girl is camera shy. 6) It is easy to pay Gini electronically. Thanks! Beth.

Gini is EXCELLENT. She came over to meet me and pupper and we went on a walk together so she could…read moreobserve and see how it normally goes. The dog is somewhat leash reactive to other dogs, so Gini was prepared for that after our walk together. After we got back, Gini asked if she could enter the house alone to see how the dog would react to her, a stranger, entering without me. She was fine and Gini did a few more little exercises to make sure everything would be okay. She's been walking our pup for almost 2 months now, 4 days a week. She does 15 minute walks on days when we are home earlier, and 30 minute walks on days when we will be later. The pup loves it and we have not had any issues with her being unhappy (inappropriate elimination, destruction, etc.) now that I'm no longer working from home. Gini has even suggested a few tips and tricks (a different collar, a new keep-her-busy toy) to help with the transition and her general behavior. All have worked wonderfully. We also noticed that the dog is walking much better with us. We had trained a lot of the pulling out of her, but she still insists on being in front and right at the end of the amount of leash we allow her. After some time with Gini, she is still in front but there is much more slack on the leash and she seems more low-key. This is cheaper than dog daycare and works just as well for us. Actually it's better because it's in-home and we aren't constrained by the daycare's hours of operation (ours closes at 6:30 and there are many days we don't make it home before 7). She also sends photos every day of the pup on their walk. It's a great bright spot for my afternoons at the office, seeing the dog having a nice time!
