This is a long overdue review. Also, I think this is more like a thank-you letter to Jen than a review. As many others have stated, Jen is amazing. Our dog, Shaka, just loved spending time with her and the other pups she cared for. We were a little worried at first about his temperament being around others (humans and other animals) since he gets a little skittish, but he seemed to thrive there. When it was pick-up time, he was always happy and seemed to sleep very well from getting his exercise and socialize in. (He also smelled great on his longer stays. Thank you for the baths!) Jen is super flexible and communicative. We were so appreciative of this since we tend be rather spontaneous and would ask to drop him off the day before sometimes. We also would extend his stay last minute, for example, when we were taking road trips and wanted to stop for the night instead of driving all the way through a town. (Sorry and thank you so much, Jen!) Shaka has stayed over from one day to two weeks (possibly more), and each time, we've received text updates from her and even pictures of him happy with his friends. I always looked forward to those. Shaka passed away early last year, and I've been meaning to write this for a long time to say, "Thank you, Jen!" for being such a wonderful caregiver and trustworthy and friendly person overall. We have been using this service for over two years and Jen has been very reliable and fantastic with our corgi, who looks forward to seeing her and spending time with her several walks a week. Jen does not just go through the motions of dog walking, she truly engages with and cares for our dog. We have gone though several family medical emergencies where we were out of town and asked her (although out of her regular services and sometimes without much notice) to work with our friends to cover animal feeding and walking times and she has been flexible and awesome in doing so. We can never thank her enough for being there when we needed her through some emotionally difficult times. My dog and I were so lucky to find Jen at Sit Run Play when we moved to Portland. Jen has been walking my Labrador retriever Lucy for almost 5 years and I have nothing but good things to say. Jen picks her up everyday and takes her to the park with a group of dogs to run around. Lucy loves her time at park with Jen and the other dogs! Jen is really easy to work with, super responsive to texts/email and takes great care of all the dogs. Its clear she truly cares about all the dogs and she does an awesome job!I also use Jen as my go to person for overnight boarding when I'm out of town. She's always very flexible with pick up/drop off times and I know Lucy is in good hands while I'm gone. She always sends texts and pictures to let me know how Lucy is doing. I had been taking my dog to Sniff for boarding, but they got so popular and busy that they were always booked up when I needed dog boarding (I'm also a last minute appointment maker, so it's partially my fault). After a search on Yelp, I found Jen...and I'm sooo glad I did. I love that my dog Penny stays in an actual home and isn't cooped up in a kennel for half a day. Jen is so wonderful to work with: she's very communicative and will update me on how Penny is doing without me even asking, she sends pictures, and I love that she took my dog to the beach when she was dog sitting. It warms my heart to think that my dog gets to go on all of these adventures with Jen. Also, Penny used to be shy around other dogs, but has become more playful and outgoing with dogs her size ever since I've been going to Jen. I will end this review with one of my absolute favorite aspects of going to Jen, and dog owners I think will empathize with me. Oftentimes if I'm away for a weekend and fly home Sunday, almost all dog boarding places won't be open for you to pick up your dog. When I've been away from Penny for a weekend, I just want to see her cute face, and it's hard to wait an entire day just to be able to pick her up at the boarders. Jen, on the other hand, is super flexible about when you can pick up your dog. You don't have to be within the 24 hour time period (and get charged another day) like almost all boarders here. I had dropped my dog off at 8am and picked her up at 10pm (yes! 10pm!) the following day, and Jen only charged me for the 1 day. I can't recommend Jen enough! No more Sniff for my pup. read more

It doesn't get better than Jen. Our dog was a rescued senior dog with some special needs and some abuse in her past which made some of her behaviors challenging. She didn't trust 99% of people she encountered, had high anxiety, and had a really hard time being around other dogs. But Jen? She loved Jen. Jen was recommended to us by a friend and we were on edge because we knew our dog could be tough. But after meeting Jen and seeing how she coped with our dogs behaviors, we were immediately put at ease. She knew how to work with her behaviors as opposed to work against them and we were so, so lucky to have her be our go-to when we needed to travel. She sent us pictures to keep us updated while we were gone, which definitely helped with our anxiety (and even let Jules sleep in her bed with her, which Jules loved). Jen has been part of our lives for six years, walking Farley daily and boarding her at least 2x month while I'm traveling, and she has been an absolute treasure. My shepherd mix is a high anxiety rescue and isn't comfortable with many people, but she adores Jen, because she's always been loving, patient, calm and supportive with her. Jen is reliable and responsible, and you can feel how much she cares for your pup with every interaction, and how much your dog loves her right back. There were times I was sick in bed and Jen would pick Farley up (always on time), and I could hear them in the doorway, so happy to see one another and head out on their adventures. That kind of bonding and reliability make it so much easier leaving your dog behind. I moved from San Francisco to Southern California in 2012, and still drive back to SF so Jen can watch Farley, who goes absolutely nuts when she see's her. My only regret is Jen isn't moving near us in So Cal, but San Francisco's loss is Portland's gain!! read more

Finding Jen has been an absolute miracle for our Havanese who has major separation anxiety. My husband and I travel a fair amount and have left our pup with Jen on many occasions over the last year. He always comes home happy and completely normal which is a HUGE deal for an anxious and easily traumatized dog. We know he gets lots of love and exercise/ socialization while we are away and that makes leaving so much easier. Jen is very reliable, responsive by email or text, and flexible with pick up and drop off. To me and my husband there is definitely a difference between a dog lover and someone who understands dogs. Jen is simply put THE BEST. She has been taking our pup out on walks 3 days a week and we just adore her. The first time she came over, our dog curled right up in her lap so we knew she would be a great fit.
