On the positive side, the staff were consistently friendly, kind, and clearly care about the dogs. They created a welcoming environment, and we appreciated their kindness. Unfortunately, the experience itself didn't quite work out for us. Our dog is an intact male, and he ended up in a group with all females, one of whom had recently gone through a heat cycle. The facility allows females who have recently been in heat, but unfortunately their scent just isn't conducive to a group social setting like this, especially for young intact males. The first week this happened we assumed it was just a temporary challenge and gave it the benefit of the doubt, but the issue continued during our next session. The scent was simply too distracting for him- and even other females were distracted by the scent. Our dog who normally socializes well in other group settings, became too fixated and overstimulated for any type of learning or appropriate social interaction. We really tried to give this facility a fair shot and came back again hoping for a better experience, but ultimately our dog had to remain leashed the entire session time, which completely defeats the purpose of a social/play session. We have now found a facility with stricter guidelines around females in heat.

The dog playgroup sessions are carefully monitored and involve training exercises in name response and recall. The staff treats the dogs with care and respect and offers feedback about the dog's behavior. Since dogs need to be interviewed before they're accepted into playgroups, we can be sure that our pup is playing and socializing in a reasonably safe pack. My pooch, Luka, goes with Rae on her Dog Park Adventures. Rae comes to our apartment and picks him up, takes him out for a few hours to an off leash dog park, and then returns him home. Rae is consistent, always shows up and does what she says she is going to do. She is extremely flexible, allowing for wiggle-room in your schedule if needed, and will always ensure coverage with one of her other walkers if she is unavailable for whatever reason. The pricing is fair, very comparable to other similar businesses. Rae goes above and beyond and even teaches Luka new commands, practices his old ones, and works through any behaviour issues that might arise both in the car (which causes him some anxiety) as well as at the park. Luka has learned to listen better through spending time with Rae, which has improved his behaviour at home in general as well. Rae even has a very active Instagram/Facebook account, which is incredibly thoughtful and brings me peace since I get to see a smiling, waging, running, playing, jumping picture or video of Luka everyday he goes out with Rae. To top it off, they go to the park rain or shine, and Rae always ensures Luka is wiped down well and that our bedroom doors are clicked shut to save our bedding from doggy smell. It's the little things that truly make Rae exceptional at her job, and Ruff Mutts the only place I will go for our dog walking needs. Most of all, Luka LOVES Rae. She has a special nickname for him, which, if you say out loud, will get his tail wagging so hard he loses balance. "Rae Today!" used to mean little to him, but now he knows it means he gets to go on an adventure with his friends. Here, we dropped him off and they returned him within 5 minutes. It was almost like they didn't even try. He was partially wet. I'm upset because their website is advertised as specializing in this kind of experience that makes dogs comfortable. And they treated my dog far from that.
