All I have to say is WOW! This place is next level. If you're thinking of going to one of the other 3 smoke shops on 19th st, just pass on those. This spot is 19s newest addition, and let me just say the other 3 are absolute trash compared to Up in Smoke. 9m back in the day was alright, and now I will never go there again after being robbed of $200 from them. I bought an e-rig there, and not even 24 hours later the thing completely stopped working, so I took it back in and they said they'd have the owner send it in for replacement. Months and months went by and I tried calling and going in multiple times and eventually they just started telling me they didn't know what I was talking about. The other 2 shops are your basic "over priced chinese glass, run by immigrants who know absolutely nothing about what they sell, and can be very rude depending on who you have to deal with. Now up in smoke, this is what I'd call a REAL smoke shop, the two times I've come in we're absolutely incredible. I'm talking great costumer service (shout out to Howard!) Top of the line glass that is actually affordable, but they also have a great variety of all types of glass. And both times I purchased a piece from here they gave me a very nice discount, and if you pay cash they will not charge tax. These nice little bonuses you will NOT find at the other shops in the area. So, I finally got around to visiting the Up In Smoke store here in Costa Mesa on 19th Street literally across from the DMV. Funny enough, I was on my way back from a doctor's appointment and had decided to grab lunch at my favorite vegan burger place, Mr Nice Guy's and as I was pulling into the parking lot I was shocked to see that it was the same strip of businesses that Up In Smoke is located in. Stoked would be the appropriate word for it. So, I ran inside and who should I run into but Mikey the owner and Bruce the guy who runs the store in the Balboa Island location. It was a party for sure!! I had a solid time hanging out with Mike and he gave me the details of ALL the Up In Smoke stores including the others owned by family. What is awesome to know, is that Mike and his family have been handling these locations for about 2 decades now maybe longer. I would have to call them THE PREMIER store for finding anything smoking or vaping related. On a side note, Mike mentioned that in the near future that Newport and possibly Costa Mesa will both have new "zoning laws" in regards to stores carrying various kinds of vaping products. So, if you're used to seeing your regular products here or at any of the other locations, I would suggest that you visit the store here on 19th and have a conversation with Mike regarding these changes in the local laws. I was completely unaware that some pretty drastic changes were going into effect so soon. Come in and get the info from Mike or any of the other guys here and they'll set you straight. In the meantime they're selling as much of their vaping products as quickly as they can before the changes take effect. As for the other devices and products, they will continue to provide the best selection, at the best prices as usual. If you need anything, butane, lighters, scales, pocket pipes, rolling trays, Kratom, hookahs, flavored tobacco, stickers, wall art, ANYTHING!!! You should easily find it here. Or at the very least, the guys here can find it through the various other locations for you. They're always open and ready to assist you with your products and purchases.
