We have been going to unrefined for years now and I love their unique sours that they create. They have both Ben and my styles, so we are able to enjoy the beers at our leisure and talk with the staff who is always super funny and friendly. The place is smaller on the inside with maybe five or six seats at the bar area and a few tables but they do have seating outside as well. This is an old house so there is only so much you can do with the space. They do not offer food but do have some snacks. If you have the munchies and right next door is an amazing smelling restaurant if you're lucky enough to be able to get in. We will continue to go and enjoy all their new beers they have to offer. read more

Let me preface this by saying that I'm not a big drinker. I came for the Mardi Gras Crawfish event on the patio and left with new friends and a full belly. There is no food menu but they often have food trucks and they allow outside food to be brought in. Situated in a charming old home on Orange, Unrefined is anything but! Charming atmosphere, great selection of beverages. "I'm in Crisis" was fruited and a favorite! The weather was perfect and we enjoyed gripping and ripping into the crawfish. The patio was intimate and yet there was plenty of seating. Service was outstanding and they cleared empty glasses quickly. Stopped by since we were in Tarpon Springs and fell in love with this place! The historic home is so quaint and draws you in to check it out. We were greeted by the bar tender, Ashley. She was so friendly, helpful, and incredibly passionate about beer. I started with their Gourdalicious imperial pumpkin ale. It was so tasty and perfect for fall. I then ended with Mexican Candy with a splash of Mexican Ghost Candy. I loved that peppers were added to these beers and it was a surprising and tasty way to end my visit there. Fabulous is all I can say! Love the name and I love that they have one of the best varieties of their own brews.... seems to be something for everyone! You've already seen the reviews that talk about the Victorian house, and I must say the ambiances just perfect for a small town like Tarpon Springs florida. They recently added a back yard kind of green area and also invite food trucks which just makes it a very casual place and fun for everyone! I would have no hesitation bringing children join in the fun. Family-friendly, bartenders in management are excellent, and it's really easy to meet people and chat up a nice conversation. And it's also kind of cool because you can walk up and down the street and come right back to a nice cold one! Not only was all the beer good but the bartender was super cool and I hung out talking with him for hours. I appreciate that they have a variety and not just 10 different IPA's. The sours and stout I had were well balanced and full of flavor. The name escapes me, but tried their best seller which has jalapeño in it and it was one of the smoothest drinkable "spicy" beers I have had. You can taste the jalapeño but not overpowering and just a tinge of spice at the finish. I enjoyed hearing the history of the brewery, what they are doing in the community and how they and the other four or so breweries in Tarpon Springs are trying to make it more of a beer destination. Everyone knows Tampa'a beer scene is one of the best. I didn't get to try the other Breweries in Tarpon Springs but if I was doing a brew tour in Tampa, I would drive over and make it part of the weekend. You can tell they have fun with their beer, with names like Piss Warm Chango or Do You Wanna Borrow My Pajamas and they aren't afraid to experiment and try something new. It is one thing to have fun and try something off the wall but another thing to make it work and they do. read more

What a great little spot for some delicious beer in Tarpon Springs. Great staff, you can tell they love what they do. They have a passion for beer. They took over a former brewery's location. Cute house in the middle of downtown. They have several IPAs on tap. I had the Lip Lettuce New England IPA which was perfectly true to the style. This Brewery is located in what looks like an old house. They have indoor and outdoor seating. My wife and I usually enjoy ipas and ordered a flight of their ipas. They were good but not great, and fairly unusual in their flavors. We were about to leave when the bartender suggested we try a couple other beers. The ones he gave us blew us away and we ended up staying for another flight that he recommended. We generally don't get sours and he put two in our flight. They were the best by far I've ever had. He also suggested some really cool dark beers. Moral of the story is listen to your bartender. He was really fun to talk to and we hung out for a couple hours. First time in this brewery. They have a small selection but a good one. It's located in downtown Tarpon Springs. This place could be a gold mine, what they are lacking is substance. Although food is not what people are looking for when they are meeting with friends to have a flight or try new brews think of how much longer people will stay if they had a small menu, the food is what they are lacking. Yes, you can bring your food in from local bars and restaurants but they would pull more people in and keep them there if they had a small menu to select from. A small bag of chips or beef jerky is not going to cut it. If Unrefined Brewery had a small menu, with Tapas to share, they would pull in more people and keep them there. Nothing wrong with this brewery, but I found the taster size beers to be quite expensive for what they were, and the flavors just weren't much to my liking. But, everyone's palate is different, and the place was crowded with lots of regulars so there's clearly plenty of people that did dig their flavors. We sat on the patio/porch to get away from all of the loud cheering inside from people watching sports; we liked the atmosphere on the porch, where they were piping in some pretty great tunes. read more

I have followed Saint Somewhere from their industrial park location to the beautiful historical building taproom, and was surprised to pass by downtown Tarpon Springs and see that Saint Somewhere is gone and in its place is a brewery with a different name. Sadly, the BBQ place next to it was gone too. I didn't expect businesses in this little town to have such a hard time. Unrefined is open only on Fri, Sat and Sun. And they only do sour and stouts. They also use seasonal ingredients rather than extracts for the best flavors. For sour I tried the Soulless Ginger and enjoyed its refreshing, fruity tartness. I tried some of the stouts but I guess my preference is for a thicker, sweeter version so I can't say I really love their stout, but I did enjoy my Gourdalicious, a lovely spiced pumpkin ale that smells like a pie. Price is affordable, starting from a $2 5-oz pour. I love that they offer small pours so I get to try several. read more

We stopped into this cute spot before going out to dinner with my family. We ordered the flight to get a sampling of everything. They had a pretty broad selection of beers available. We went heavy on the IPAs (our preferred style) and sat outside on the patio. There are a couple of tables outside. Inside had a locals, regulars vibe. The spot next door was playing live music. While the brewery had a cute enough ambiance in this little old house and parking right in front on the street was easy, we weren't overly impressed with the beers. Another great brewery in Tarpon Springs. The bar is located in what used to be a house, we think. Enter by the front door, and it's just like going to visit friends. They have a great selection of beers (20 on tap when we were there). Tommy was behind the bar when we visited and was very helpful and knowledgeable about the beers that they produce. Service was excellent, but I imagine that once the six bar seats are occupied, it becomes a little difficult to get your beer without leaning through the patrons at the bar. All of their brewing is done off-site, but locally. There is seating available outside, on the front porch, or round back, but there is no shade in the back, so the heat was brutal. We sat inside, so it wasn't a problem for us. Worth a visit when you're in Tarpon Springs. read more

We enjoyed this brewery during our tour of tarpon springs on our bicycles. It was not crowded which was nice as we could sit at the bar and watch some college football. I tried the Another Shrubbery, hazy IPA, citrus, has some tastes of pine. Cannot think of the name of the jalapeño beer my uncle tried, it was not nearly as good as the one I had (I'm not a big fan of jalapeño beers). Overall, good selection of craft beers. I give it 2 stars because the beer was good, and the decor was cute. BUT...(we were warned not to go there, but wanted to try for ourselves) The bartender was a cocky-dooshbag! There was 3 of us, and we usually "TASTE" some, if not all the flavors of beer at ANY brewery. THAT'S WHAT THE "TASTINGS" ARE FOR. My mom and I tasted 2...only 2 beers. We asked to try a third (mind you we share the tasting even, so it's 1 tasting for both of us) and the bartender said no...we were like "what?" He again said "no"...he said that he can "charge us for a tasting if we want". I said that "I have never heard of such a thing"! He said "yep, that is what a flight is for". When you don't want as much as a flight of beers (especially if you don't know what they TASTE like!!!)I do not order a flight UNTIL I "taste" the beers in the flight I want. Needless to say, we left right then and there...gave him a like a $.50 tip, and my dad really wanted to buy 2 growlers to go...but he lost that sale!!! Might want to think about who you are hiring for your service bar...just sayin. read more

Great place to get your sours and stouts. The owner's run this place on the weekends on top of their regular jobs so expect a love for brewing from this brewery. It's a wonderful place to get to know and meet new people with lots of clean bathrooms for those with small bladders. The Pinellas trail is a literal 1 minute walk away so you can grab a drink while you're on it and they do have a bicycle rack in the garden in front. It's in a converted old home so there's plenty of charm in the place with a wrap around porch to have your drinks in the fresh air. Right next door in a similarly converted home is a new Creole Smokehouse so you can have dinner there and walk next door for drinks, which is what we did. read more

The ones we tried were all very good. The owner was very pleasant. We would definitely return. Open F-S only for the time being. No food available.
