Went here before my trip to Stockholm. Super convenient location wise and the Woman was incredibly helpful. There is a lock on the door and you need to be buzzed in which I had trouble opening. They have decent rates in line with other currency exchange places but the posts on here suggesting that they get within a penny of the market price are highly exaggerated. I called several times to check rates and they were always about 5% above the market price. For me this meant it would cost $100 to exchange 2k worth of foreign currency. read more

Can't complain. The rate here is pretty comparable with the exact exchange rate. For USD to CAD they gave me $1.25CAD for $1USD which is a pretty decent rate since the real exchange rate is $1.31 at the moment. The normal transaction fee is $3, but if you exchange over $300 then it's waived. The place is not the most private area in terms of getting your money, but it's alright. They also take work phone calls while servicing you which can be offputting to some, but I didn't mind too much. Convenient location for those near midtown and looking for a decent rate! read more

Rate was really, really good. The place looks a little sketch, but the man behind the counter was my nice (he let me practice my French) and the rate really can't be beat. They made about a 4 cent profit on every dollar, but I didn't mind considering most money dealers in the city have horrible rates and charge you for the transaction. I was first one in when I arrived on a tues afternoon. The lady greeted me and remembered my prior phone call about exact currencies I was looking for. She went over the order with me and was very through counting the money 3x. She combined the different bills in one pile and didn't separate them or offer me an envelope or anything to put them in. Just basically here is your stack of bills squished under the glass. She talks to customers on the phone when they call and doesn't place them on hold even though you were there first. But to top it all off, its an open lobby so anyone who comes in can see exactly how much you are paying and getting. read more

Went out in search of Colombian Pesos. Omnex had less than $200 worth, but I appreciate that not that many people will be buying/selling COP. "Rate guarantee"? Total bullshit. I purchased $100 worth at approximately an 18% discount from actual rates. Pretty mediocre, but it's worth it to not have to search for an ATM in a foreign airport. While traveling back home, I stopped by two other places and found both with better rates. For the $5-10 that i lost, I won't be going back to demand the guarantee. I Went down to 234 42nd street today to exchange euro to usd where normal rate is abt 112 to 116 they only want to give 1080 and they charged 14% fee on top of it?? it was like 680 euro they only want to give me 600 or 580 ??? They made my Euro so dirt cheap. I told them off they are earning exchange rate why charged so high fee, then the girl started negotiating lower fee like 7% and told me this is the best she can give me and i should feel snug about it, she told me it was like only 7 cent for every dollar..?? my god, they sure treat their customer like idiot with their day light robbery business. she then dropped her charges further from 7% to 5% to 4% to 3%.. they told me everywhere i go will be the same i will get fees and they are the lowest... i just walk away at the end. I walked down to UNO forex at 33rd street and get a good rate at 115 with no extra charges. I get 785 usd for 685 Euro.. UNO is doing an honest business and is highly recommended. The girls here are professional and friendly. They should print some brochures to distribute to tourist in 42nd st and port of authority etc to help tourist on their money exchanges, so that these tourist will not be ripped off by these unscrupulous money exchanges agents in the city. read more
