Whenever I've needed to get my dogs in for a service, the answer has always been "yes ", she's never said no regardless of how busy her schedule has been. The hubby and I (almost) always travel with our mini schnauzer. Typically, if she can't go, we don't go. I wanted to go on the nearby lighthouse tour and see if there were any lingering poppies still in the vicinity. I wasn't sure if we could take her in her backpack, so I reached out to Unleashed to see if our doggie could hang out there while we did the tour. The owner responded to me rocket fast and after texting back and forth a couple times, arrangements were made for boarding for a few hours while we did the lighthouse tour. Fast forward to the tour date, we stopped by to drop off our doggie. The girl who helped us was nice and friendly. We told her we'd be back in about 2 1/2 hours and they took her to the back to get her settled in. We picked our doggie up a bit later and everything had gone well. They had other doggies there getting pampered and groomed and ours was just hanging out and probably taking puppy naps. Super cute doggie salon! read more

My rescue terrier mix was extremely fear aggressive unable to be safely groomed when I first took him to Unleashed in February. Lesa offered the puppy program to slowly and gently introduce him to grooming. She exposed him to the process with frequent and short visits. Since February with the puppy program, along with training he is at ease with grooming and has much more confidence in meeting new people. I was not sure if I would be able to keep Willy when I got him. With Lesa's puppy program and training advise I now have a happy, confident new companion. There are plenty of dog groomers out there. But wrangling a cat is another story. My girl is very motivated by food. Eating is her favorite pastime and as such has some junk in her trunk. It makes keeping herself clean a bit of a challenge. We desperately needed a sanitary shave to help her along. Lisa and her staff were adept at managing my sweet kitty and got her all spruced up! Lisa cleaned her up, offered me some tips, and overall, handled my little buddy with care. I will be taking advantage of her scheduled cat days in the future. Appt Aug 5, 2024 Lesa Moreé, owner and professional groomer at Unleashed in Cayucos, agreed I could be with my cat Bodhi for a "mommy and me" appt while she gave Bodhi a lion cut to remove extensive matting. When I arrived Lesa's manner was abrupt and dismissive. Lesa said she could brush Bodhi's matts out, that he didn't need a lion cut. I gave her permission since she was the professional. The matting was thick and Bodhi cried often during the 45 minutes she brushed the matting out. Bodhi cried louder when she pulled on his rear legs. I tried to tell her Bodhi had arthritis in his back hips and abruptly moving his legs around hurt him. Lesa ignored me and harshly silenced me when I offered Bodhi comfort saying, "it's okay, Bodhi." Lesa professionally removed the extensive matting without sensitivity or reassurance as I watched my cat cry in pain. It was a traumatic experience for both Bodhi and me. I will be more diligent about brushing Bodhi daily to prevent matting in the future. I will never go back to Lesa Moreé at Unleashed. read more

Well, this was not a pleasant experience. I hate writing negative reviews, especially since this salon could be as wonderful as the highly rated reviews make it seem. The BAD: First, the owner needs to calm down. She projects a negative energy and is frankly pushy. She started screaming at an employee for not doing a good job (saying she does not want to ever see this again, or she will be fired), right in front of customers. The first cardinal rule of good business practices is to never humiliate your employees, especially in front of clients. My main concern coming in for the first time is they use really loud air blowers to dry the dogs. Why dog hair salons use those is beyond me, it's so stressful to many dogs. When I stated how my dog was fearful of any loud noise, she grabbed him from me and put him in the cage closest to the air blower! Are you freaking kidding me!? Then, I repeated my concern, and she said he will be fine. When I saw him visibly distraught (and I am not being ridiculously oversensitive here), I told her immediately that I'm not leaving him there, so please give him back to me. She said she can't do that, they have already started to cut his hair (true, they had just taken him out of the cage while we were talking). I insisted, so instead of giving him back to me, she turned off the air blower. Thank you! Even my ears were feeling relief! I have other concerns as well. Even before I started expressing my reservations, there were two dogs left alone wet and half bathed (but leashed). One of them was there for the entire time I was there, about an hour! Is this for real!? They were trying to escape to me through an observation window, obviously not appreciating their time there... more importantly, this is totally unsafe! Should a dog fall over, being leashed, he would quickly die from hanging himself! Finally, the owner did not bother telling me it's cash or check only, so I had to get cash from a local ATM (for a fee obviously). When I told the owner she should tell people about it in advance, her excuse is that everyone coming to groom their dogs there knows already (I had told her on the phone it was my first time). Really!? The GOOD: they did a fairly good job, although not great. Two dogs with summer cuts, but finishing around head and legs was poor. The cuts were actually expensive by Los Angeles standards, at $50 each (I pay usually $40). Lisa was also accommodating taking my two dogs and doing their grooming quickly. I think she's taking on way too much work, and then is not able to deal with it calmly. Hint: refer to someone else, or delay the work to a later date... the customer's satisfaction and feel good vibe are more important in the long term than trying to please everyone short term. This was on the weekend before July 4th, so they were busy. However, safety and concerns for the customer should be first. Even if I lived here, and I do come to town often, I will never be back! read more

Recently relocated to Cayucas and in keeping with the town's charm (though tourist; business-wise it holds onto it's old town feel! Customer service Alexa was more than on point. I left an email message as the business recordings stated it was close on this day (Wednesday; not sure if it's always closed on this day or not. Within an hour I heard back and she was able to come let me in the very next day. After dropping Meatball off he was placed in a huge open ear crate so he didn't really know is that crate that was wonderful because typically he doesn't like being creative with the hairdryer so I am she explained to me that they use 1000 hot air blowing in the air and so it's a long drive I think it's for check up at any event I asked for the works aside from near filing and I certainly got the moneys worth it was $50 for the pug plus tip! read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. I have to be honest-this was a terrible experience. I should have known when the woman was short with me in the phone while booking, but I saw great reviews and was going to be in the area so I kept the appointment. I don't like spending energy writing negative reviews, but when your pets are involved, I believe people should know the truth. When we arrived, she didn't seem to remember booking an appointment for me and was clearly irritated and overwhelmed. She had her assistant, basically yank my dog out of my arms, leaving deep scratches on my side as my dog tried to resist in fear. She and her assistant, hastily and roughly clipped her nails, and while I could see through the window, she was struggling. I also heard the assistant gruffly tell my dog to "stop it!" And to "knock it off" while tightly restraining her. She is a 20Lb sweet, sensitive animal. Not at all aggressive. Clearly terrified by their intensity. I left $20 for the 2 minutes they took to clip her nails and got out of there. It's been a week and I can already see that I need to clip her dewclaw. I won't be going back. read more

Amazing experience - our long haired calico cat had so many matts and was so unhappy. We thought we were going to have to do a shave down but after the groomer consulted us on our options and thinking of the well being of the cat, the groomer meticulously and slowly got out every single one with a comb. The cat is so Much happier and didn't cry.. would highly recommend .. they are knowledgeable and educated us so We would be better cat owners / family members! Unleashed has been our three-year-old Australian Labradoodle's "home away from home" since we adopted her as a puppy. So you can imagine the matted state his current mini Aussie Sheppard had to be in for him to cave and take him in. This man does not rave often, but he could not say enough great things about the time and attention Lesa paid to his pup. The whole process took a full day and a next day face finish up. Lesa has been taking care of all of my animals for grooming, boarding, and house visits for my cat and bird. She does an expert groom on my maltipoo and bathes my other dogs and attends to nails in between grooms. Most importantly listens to my requests as that changes from winter to summer. Wow, so pleased with my experience at Unleashed! I have a 1/2 German Shepard 1/2 Border Collie with LONG hair. She has the tendency to be pretty nervous, especially when going to the groomer. I've only ever gotten her groomed at a couple other places and have never found a place that made my pup feel so comfortable. I called last minute for a wash and full hair cut service and although they had a full schedule during the weekend, they made sure to fit her in on a Saturday!! When I walked in to drop off, they made her feel totally comfortable. And even with their full schedule, they made sure to fit in a walk-in appointment that came in while I was dropping off. Just noticed how great of customer service they have firstly! They finished her groom almost an hour before the estimated time and my dog looks fabulous!! The hair situation at home was just getting out of control and they shaved her short, like I asked, and my dog looks awesome! The haircut itself is smooth, can't even tell she was shaved, no chops or chunky looking cuts. It looks great! I've taken her out for a hike and to the park a couple of time since and have even gotten comments, compliments and questions about where I took her. Was so pleased with our experience and will DEFINITELY be taking my dog back to Unleashed! read more

Come up every year for 4th of July, but this year we had to find a place to board our dog for a night on the 5th. Called Lesa and she was more than happy to accommodate our baby. Amazing!!! I cannot say enough great things about Cayucos Unleashed and the owner Lisa! I'm visiting the area (up for a month) and needed to get my two Maltese bathed and trimmed. My boy has separation anxiety and has had a few traumas. My girl is just 4 pounds and I witnessed a daycare worker drop her to the ground--she literally almost died in my arms. Long story short, I'm a nervous "mom." Making an appointment was easy--Lisa answered the phone and because the connection was bad, responded to my text right away. I had read the other great reviews and even though they needed a bath/trim last week, I happily took her first available this week! When I arrived, I went through everything with her and she was super understanding. My boy is a growler and I explained that if there was any trouble I'd come back and get him. He's not a biter, but you never know. Lisa explained that she works with abused dogs, rescues, etc. She explained that if she needed to stop and do a little at a time, she would. I know she sensed my nervousness in leaving them--I even apologized for being a nervous Nelly! She was beyond great--about 1.5 after leaving them, she send me a video to let me show me and let me know they were fine . When I went to pick them up, she let me know that he didn't growl at all--that's all Lisa. I'm confident that he felt safe and secure in her hands! Let's talk about the haircuts--beyond fantastic--they both look phenomenal! We're looking to move up to the area, and I'm so glad I have a fantastic groomer who I can trust with my furbabies. I had used her before and she did OK. I suggested to my neighbor whose dog need to be groomed that we take one of ours and hers to this shop, she was not happy at all with the owner. It is loud in there and that lady screams at her customers. She cuts the dogs all the same cut pretty much and if you complain, she yells at you and then says I don't want to business with you. FINE! My poor dog :( Took our little guy here while on vacation. The lady (owner's) frantic attitude should have been a red flag but her store seemed clean and professional. When we came back, our dog was bleeding, shaking like I have never seen him, and had a really bad nail job. We asked if everything was alright and she said "HUH? Oh yeah "she" was a doll, I just..." Then nothing. She walked away. Not sure what is going on with this woman but I was so upset that I left my dog alone with her. Other dogs seemed miserable there too.
