I take my 80 pound senior lab here every month to have her nails trimmed. The staff is so friendly, always greet her by name and do an excellent job. They help her onto the table, one stays right by her while the other one trims and uses a drommel on her nails and shaves the pad fur. My brother brings his two labradoodles ("the doods") for the full treatment and is always happy with the results. A positive experience for all of the dogs. Alisha grooms my two persian cats for me on a regular basis. They have very long hair that tends to matt if not kept up. I can do some at home but some tender areas they have need a professional. My male cat "Rico" likes to bite when he is combed but Alisha knows how to handle him. I trust her with both my kitties cuz I love them so much I also enjoy watching Angie groom the dogs. I have been going to Golden Collar since I moved to Paso ten years ago. One thing I have always liked is they don't have you drop off your pet early in the morning and keep them all day. I was looking for a groomer for my almost-15-year-old, 6 lb., very arthritic Chihuahua, and the Golden Collar was recommended by a friend. Willie had never been to a groomer before. Willie has been going in every 2 weeks for several months now, and I am so happy with the care and service he receives! They are very gentle with his arthritic spine and bathe him carefully. And Willie seems to enjoy going, so that's a wonderful perk! There was an earlier comment left, that I would like to address. The comment said there was "dirty pet hair" on the floor and someone was eating their lunch at a table. First, the dogs aren't clipped until after they are bathed. Yes, there is clean hair on the floor during the day but any time I've gone in there are large dogs being clipped and they create a lot of hair! Second, I have been there when they open in the morning and the floors are spotless, so it is obviously cleaned regularly and thoroughly. Finally, yes, the groomers do eat their meals at a table. The shop is small, and it does not have a break room or kitchen, just the main room, a kennel, and the bathing area. The groomers don't leave for meals, so - unless people expect them to eat standing out in the parking lot - of course they eat inside. Regarding the "smell of greasy food," all I've ever smelled when I go in is bath products and/or freshly bathed dogs. I respect the other reviewer's right to their own opinion, I just wanted to leave another perspective. Generally this group does a very good job bathing and grooming my cockapoo. They all seem to be very friendly albeit not very professional. Each time I have brought my dog there, the floors, counters and window glass are grimy looking. The grooming tables are in the center of the shop which is usual for dog salons. However, there is so much dog hair on the floor you can tell it was the accumulation of several dogs that were clipped before. My experience with most all salons I have taken my dog to is the groomers all give the floor a quick sweep up after each dog. Just like you would see a human hair salon. The last time I picked up my dog, she was running around the floor picking up all the dirty hair on her freshly bathed feet and legs. All this makes me wonder what condition the back of the salon looks like. Ninety percent of the time there is a person eating at a table right in the middle of the salon. The appearance and odor of someone scarfing down a greasy, onion stacked hamburger is just off putting and unprofessional. So, if you are not bothered with all the negative issues I mentioned, I recommend Golden Collar for a good hair cut for your dog. read more

We just moved to the area, and we have two Australian Shepherds that needed some TLC. I trusted other Yelp reviewers, and Golden Collar is very close and convenient to our new home. Of course, I was nervous about leaving my pups at a shop they've never been to and with someone we don't know and has sharp scissors. With the other Yelp reviews in mind, I went to the shop without the dogs to check it out. I was very impressed with how I was greeted and treated and decided to schedule an appointment. I took the pups in, they asked lots of questions and were happy to address all of my concerns and answered all of my questions. I was perfectly comfortable leaving my dogs at Golden Collar, and I was told about what time they should be ready to come back home. These people couldn't have been nicer to us, and showed an abundance of love toward the other dogs that they were working with -- which looked awesome, and were perfectly happy and content. Both dogs were ready on schedule, and both look perfect! They came out super happy. One of my Aussies has long fur and is super shaggy, and I am very particular about his haircut. They hit the nail on the head. These groomers know exactly what they are doing and how to do it. read more

Excellent service and wonderfully kind care for my four leggers! I have three dogs, Mastiff, Pit-mix, and Maltese; they go in once a month for baths, hair cuts, nail clipping, and teeth brushing! A complete "dog-spa-day!" The groomers and attendants treat my "kids" with love and kindness (even when the old man has a grumpy day!). They come home clean and happy! I took my dog to Golden Collar for about a year before finally switching to another groomer. The customer service was never spectacular - in fact, I never felt welcome - and my dog always came home still slightly damp. The final straw was when they sent my dog home with a bleeding nail. Apparently they had been having someone "who wasn't that experienced cutting nails" doing his nails, and this was unacceptable to me. We are new to town and we just got back from a month long road trip of visiting national parks, hiking in snow and mud and our dogs who are white, fluffy American eskimos, were looking pretty filthy and tangled. The staff at golden collar was so helpful, sweet, and did an amazing job for a wonderful price. Seriously you cannot beat this place! I'm so beyond irritated with this establishment, that I will never return. I once gave this place 5 stars, and if there were a negative, I'd apply it today. They never even finished his haircut by the time I picked him up five hours later. This is the second time I've been moved to a different time then I've scheduled, and the second time it's taken over 4 hours to "finish" my dog's haircut. He's a 13 pound Pekingese that can be a pain but not enough to justify that ridiculous amount of time. I scheduled the appointment over a week before the actual appointment to make sure that, unlike last time, he would be in and out and I'd be prepared. It's absolutely beyond my comprehension how someone could manage to so irresponsibly schedule so many dogs that it takes hours past the appointment time to finish him. Done. And done read more

Golden Collar was the only place that was willing to groom my 14 yr. 100lb. Golden Shepherd. He needed a summer shave for his long, thick double layer coat and couldn't stand for long periods. Golden Collar did an excellent job him! They were very patient and took the time to work with him. Being a senior with arthritis, he needed many breaks. They even helped me get him back into the car.
