The problem with this place falls on most of the staff. I don't think I've ever walked away from completing a transaction without feeling put off. Especially when I've gotten in line and the person on register is hanging out with someone and has to step away to assist. Genuinely it feels like you're an inconvenience for wanting to support this business, based on the short almost annoyed responses you get from asking questions or saying you need a moment to look at the menu. I still come in because I was disappointed when the old location closed and like I said I love the drinks here, but the service unfortunately makes even the sweetest iced coffee taste bitter.

It gives a classic bar vibe and you order first before sitting. I ordered the choconut latte iced with a brown sugar pop tart. The choconut latte was great and went well with the fluffy and brown sugar pop tart. It was a nice afternoon pick me up. My friend got a cortado. They brought it to us which was also nice. There is plenty of seating with outlets as well. It is not too loud and I even got some work done too. I definitely want to come back and try more items as well as work from here too.

I came during a major heat wave in LA. Not a good idea but I was very eager to come & see & I didn't want to wait. Explored the pretty large nursery of various plants first. Prices were reasonable, plants were healthy, the shopping experience was fun & different. I claimed some plants in my head to go back to purchase after coffee. Went inside the very well air conditioned cafe. it was animated inside, inviting, and smelled good As coffee always does. It was small but did have some seating ( I believe 2 tall tables with tall chairs to go with). So excited to find that as part of their plant nursery there is a very large greenhouse w/ several table & chair setups. Large ceiling fans as well. More plants to view &/or purchase. That's where I settled down to drink my coffee! (Was very surprised to see many others however out in the high heat looking comfortable and unbothered!) There's table & chair seating throughout. Coffee was good! They had a good selection. I got an Americano. They have alternative milks as well. Next time I will ask for my coffee extra hot. After coffee, went to make the purchase of the plants I picked. Was thinking I'd need to go back into the cafe to pay but what a surprise! By accident, I found even more...a cute little store full of fun and interesting plant related goodies! planters, books, clothing, and all kind of things. Many things can be given to another plant lover as a gift. The very friendly cashier was present to assist if needed and ring up my planties. We had a great conversation and I got great advice on how to take care of the plants I purchased. What an enjoyable experience everything was. Will definitely be back.

I thought the name Creature was kinda cool because it reminds me of Halloween. No creatures or mummies or anything scary in this place, just delicious coffee and pastries. There was a hot guy there too. Not an employee, just a guy hanging out getting coffee. I drank my coffee at one of their tables outside in the yard area thing they have. There were a bunch of plants and stuff out there too, it was cool. I thought it would be cute if I hid behind a plant and acted like I was spying on the cute guy, so I got up to do that and as soon as I did someone took my seat. Actually it was several people who took my seat and the whole table I was sitting at. They were like "ooh that table is open, let's sit there!" but I wanted to save my seat because I was just going to hide behind a plant to joke spy on the stud to try and flirt with him. Anyway, I was so mad I was glaring at the people who stole my table, then when I looked back at the hunk he was gone! I guess he left while I was glaring at the table thieves. The coffee was great and the place is cool. I will definitely go back there next time I'm in the neighborhood to get waxed.

Being a star's coffee…read moreshop, and the reputation for celebrities to kind of just slap their name on a low quality product and move on... but this place surpassed my expectations in a lovely way! The staff felt like one of a small local joint, and the baristas were so so kind to my daughter. There was also local art plastered all over the walls and it really set the vibe. I ordered the Banana Terracotta latte and it was divine. My daughter got a latte with honey (I don't think it was on the menu? I don't recall, but they did it to her requests anyways) and they were so sweet and adjusted it just to her liking. They also entertained her conversations which made her day. Another big bonus of this place is they are also dog friendly! They have a large back patio of artificial grass. I was nervous she might pee on it, but she did not. It was so cozy in the back and I'd love to go back again soon. It seems like such a nice place to read, collect my thoughts, or work on my computer. I unfortunately live about an hour away, so I'm not sure when my next visit will be, but I took my dad for Father's Day and he said he would love to go again. It was terrific.

I tried the rose latte and a classic Armenian coffee.. both were excellent. The rose latte wasn't overly sweet and had a really nice flavor, and the Armenian coffee was bold and smooth, exactly what you'd hope for from their organic, sustainably sourced beans. Next time we're going to try the banana terracotta latte everyone talks about. Chill spot to hang out, work, or just enjoy a good cup, and the fact that it's tied to Serj Tankian and celebrates Armenian coffee culture makes it even more special. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in Eagle Rock. Definitely coming back.

Besides the friendly staff, my first visit to Rock Coffee was lackluster. The coffee was OK and the environment was not inviting, so I basically wrote it off. Fast forward to March of 2026... I saw Rock Coffee was under new management and hosting a weekly game night on Wednesdays. They have made some major improvements. The large work space had been upgraded with plenty of tables, comfortable seating, and good natural light. The coffee quality had markedly improved. It looks like they have a brand new espresso machine and the staff has clearly been trained on how to use it properly. One of the best espressos I have had in LA. I now spend more time there at various times of the day and the space acts like a little community center for the neighborhood. A chill space for hanging out with friends or getting some work done.

This was my first time here but, apparently, it's under new management and has undergone a face lift. The atmosphere is relaxing and you'll find communal tables & a bar counter with plenty of outlets to accommodate your laptop. The playlist is great too and there is an adjacent lounge that you can rent for meetings, parties, or classes. In keeping with the theme of community, they even have a basket where you can leave (or take) an encouraging note, which I think is quite nice. The day of my visit I had a pleasant encounter with barista Izzy. She was as sweet as can be and prepared my Cortado with care and handed it to me with a smile. The roast was smooth and the dollop of almond milk was just right. I'm glad I stopped in. *Street parking.

Kumquat lives off of York Blvd - a street with many families, creatives, and small businesses live. The environment is always wholesome. Their staff are always friendly, and as an experienced barista myself, I can see that their team are also very talented, well trained and very good at quality control. Their espresso is so balanced and sits perfectly center on your palette. Their matcha and hojicha is rich and velvety and seemingly a higher grade product. They work with many roasters, and sell a lot of their beans on their shelves. They also sell a lot of coffee and tea tools. I love everything about coming to Kumquat. There wasn't a line, but all the tables outside were full. The shop was well appointed, but the inside seating bar area was roped off. Staff was friendly, and accommodated my request for the Tennessee, not too sweet. It had a nice subtle caramel flavor. It's an iced latte sweetened with Sorghum syrup (like molasses) and smoke salt. I think it was $6.25 They do not accept cash! And it's tip when you order... Which I did, but isn't the price factoring in the making of the item? I've become confused ‍ over what is tip worthy when it's just placing it on the counter for me to pick up. My friend ordered the Affogato as she was in the mood for ice cream! Fun part of being an adult is having ice cream for brunch but labeling it coffee! I am curious about the $34 coffee beans, I don't know if they do regular brews featuring the fancy coffee, I would definitely want to try before I buy. We strolled over to the little park on the corner and had a chat in the shade. Something that just wasn't an option in the Old HLP !
