So let me preface this by saying the service I received was excellent, the people are nice, I believe the issue was solved and life is good. The appointment was this morning and it all went well. The only thing that may cause me to not go there again is that they charge a $160 diagnostic fee that does not apply to fixing the car, just figuring out what might be wrong with it. I've been to places before where there is a charge that would then be applied to the repair, but here they clearly say it is a separate non-refundable fee that would not be applied to repair costs. If they guarantee it's accurate, then it might be money well spent. But if it's not and we end up searching for a cause with multiple fees... I'm really iffy on that. So far that hasn't been the case. read more

The entire staff was great and you are treated as if they genuinely want to serve your needs. As everyone knows, there is a new car shortage because of chip unavailability and logistics, but University Subaru isn't acting like all of their cohorts who add "market adjustment" and "trick fees" to the MSRP. Instead, their attitude is that they don't want to be reviled as a "greedy gouger" when supply catches up with demand. I have been to University Subaru before and had work done and ordered parts for my vehicle with no problem. I decided to order a cargo carrier from them for my 2022 Outback. I called before I ordered online to make sure that part was in stock and the price online was correct. I spoke with a gentleman in the parts to department who confirmed they had 1 product in stock and yes the price was correct. I also asked if they would hold the product for a few days until I could pick it up. After that conversation I order the Thule cargo carrier online from Subaru and paid for it in full. The next morning University Subaru called to inform me that the product price was incorrect and Subaru had increased the price and the dealership had not updated their website to reflect the new price. While I understand the price increase the transaction for the product had already taken and it was paid in full. I am disgusted with the business practices of a dealership that would call to inform you that you owe more money because of a mistake made on their part. I was issued a refund for the purchase. I will never shop or have work done at University Subaru again. Lost a customer for life. read more

Driving from KC to St. Louis to see my MIL for Mothers Day and my clutch went out on my 2010 Outback. I called University Subaru in a pinch and Mr. Nixon assured me they could take care of it. They gave me a loaner for three days until my car was fixed. Here's the thing: I live in KC and likely won't be a return customer, but they got me home, fixed my clutch (working better then ever now), fixed a recalled airbag while they were at it, and didn't do it because they wanted my future business. I have had several poor experiences in the service department ranging from the standard dealership mark-up efforts to sell parts that you don't need to not addressing the issues brought in for. I have got into arguments with hard headed lube techs on Facebook. After paying $15k two years ago to get an engine shipped across the Atlantic, I brought my car in one last time in complete desperation due to having some sensors going out and throwing the car in limp mode. I get a call saying my car is ready to be picked up. The only problem is there is a ticking noise suspected of being a spun bearing that arose somehow during this service. Abuse? Neglect? Any combination of all of the above. I'm down a colossal investment and back at square one. If you care about your vehicle, DO NOT bring it to be serviced here. read more

I have seen many car dealerships. In fact, for a number of years I worked as a secret shopper to evaluate car dealerships and car salesmen. In addition, over the years I have purchased more than ten new cars. In no case did I ever feel I was cheated but in most I always felt at a disadvantage and that, even though I really prepared, I never got the "best" deal. At University Subaru I found everything to be upfront, clearly explained, and it became obvious that the intent was not only to sell a car but to more importantly gain a satisfied and probable repeat customer. Complete crooks!! I bought a used car from these sleazy salesmen. They talk quick. Here's their trick: they will show you some number on a computer screen that THEY paid for the car and its unthinkable to go any lower. What ACTUALLY happened was they did pay that price for it so its legal to tell you that, but they charged the seller of the car that much more for the new car they traded the one you're looking at in for and they don't care as long as they save money. These guys pretend to be nice. It is their job and they are darn good at it, but honestly, I don't know how they go home at night. read more

I had an excellent experience with the Columbia Subaru. My 99 Legacy engine blew after 230,000 miles. I had excellent communication with the customer liaison same Louann as well as the mechanic that actually worked on the car. They were outstanding in communicating what was wrong with the engine, looked at numerous resources to find the most cost-effective fix, and communicated every step of the way. They even drove the car to and from the nearby Firestone to take advantage of my lifetime alignment, now that's customer service!!! Oh and even came in under the estimate!! read more
