I have come here several times in the last year for oil changes and minor work on my car. It's extremely close to my job and is convenient to get to. The service is fast but almost too fast. I rarely get my fluids topped off when I get an oil change. I also find that my radio stations are changed, seat and floor is dirty from mechanics not using covers while driving the car and I even noticed that my console information was altered for my gas mileage. The inside of the shop is clean and the techs are always nice but they need to tighten it up a little. read more

They tried to pull one on my because I'm a woman... TWICE! First they said it was going to be $40 more for an alignment because I have a leveling kit. A two inch spacer on the front tires and they called it "special alignment". I said screw it, I'll do it myself with a tape measure later. Then they told me I had to get a sensor replaced that they broke and tried to play it off like it was already broken. The sensor was working 10 minutes before I got to the shop. They broke it off but didn't want to admit it. Then they tried to blame it on the bubble in my side wall I have had for 3 months. They didn't realize that I actually know how trucks work and 100% called their bluff. I called them out on it and they fixed it for free. The only good point I have to say is that the guy who checked me out at the end was very sweet and understanding. I sadly can't remember his name. If you are a woman, I highly recommend you go somewhere else because they will try to take advantage of you and get more money from you. read more

Set an appointment for brakes on the rear to be replaced. They then want to replace front as well. Rear rotors and calipers needed replaced which I already knew needed to be done but that's besides the point. They try to upsell my mom who took the car in for me on replacing the key fob battery which was replaced two-three months ago. They didn't have the one caliper they needed because it's a special ordered part. The person we talked to today on Saturday blamed the weather for why the part wasn't on the truck and that another one may come later and said they'd call either way to update. No one ever called and we called before they closed and that person said whoever put in for the part put the order in too late for it to be overnighted from Nebraska. It has been one lie after another from these people and they put myself and another customer waiting on the same item in a bad place due to their negligence. They knew they needed the part at 9 am Friday morning but waited until the end of the day to order it. Go elsewhere if you want good service. read more

Also asked to rotate tires which is free with tire care package. Got a call that my front brakes were at 3mm (2 is low limit) and I needed a $900 brake job. Got home checked the front brakes (I have done many brake jobs over past 50 years) and they are at 6 mm...easily another year or two on them. Last time I will ever buy my tires at Big O. This place isn't worth two shits. I spent over $1000 here last week and I regret even considering going here to do so. I had my truck inspected and it needed an oil change. Long story short I checked my oil today and it is old as is the oil filter AFTER I PAID them to have done it. I had it inspected there and they said it needed upper + lower ball joints to pass. They supposedly replaced them (or did they?). It was almost $500, they reeled me in that same day telling me it would be done at 3:00. they didn't just say it, they proudly proclaimed it. Come 5:00 it still wasn't done. I waited around for an hour more and FINALLY it was "done" A few days beforehand I had $500 in tires and a $70 alignment done on my other vehicle. I did a trip to Kansas and back and the tires are balanced quite poorly. If you've had work done here I recommend double checking it. Otherwise avoid this shit pit. read more

This is a tire store. Go there to get tires. They have good quality and the best prices. I had 4 tires from here and when it came time to change...they had nearly 100,000 miles on them. My only complaint is the amount of upselling they attempt to do. I come in for tires. Tires! Stop trying to sell me an oil change, alignment, various and sundry suspension parts, etc. It seems when I go in for a rotation, I always get an estimate of other stuff that just HAS TO BE DONE! priced at upwards or $500 or more. I don't buy tires from my mechanic, and I don't farm out my mechanic work to a tire store. Plus, when they are right about the need (about half the time), my mechanic always comes in at about 50-75% of Big O's quoted estimate. So, long story short: Get your tires here. There's no better place. And when that friendly manager tries to upsell you, just smile and nod...and go to a real mechanic. read more

Have used Big-O for over 20 years, but they are under new ownership, and things seem to have changed for the worse. Bought a set of four tires from the Columbia store. Six months later, one of the tires developed a "heat bubble" that cannot be repaired. Turns out they don't warranty any but their own brand of tire unless you buy a separate 3-year warranty. A "manufacturer's warranty" applies to non-Big-O brand tires, something Brandon at their Columbia office said "is very hard, almost impossible" to use. "You'd have to get in touch with the manufacturer directly," he said. "Like, you'd have to call Sumitomo directly. We don't get involved in any of that." Even the most basic items have 1 year warranties, so this is a real shocker. Also around this time, took a truck with a bad starter to their Jeff City office. $1,200 later, the truck was worse off than it was when I brought it in. It was mis-diagnosed and wrongly repaired, according to a different, reputable mechanic. Big-O used plastic twist ties, for instance, to attach several components that required specialized, heat-resistant inserts. Took the truck to their Columbia office (where I live) and spent plenty of time talking to management about making the situation right. Their *expert* Columbia mechanic left that office, and the truck still doesn't run right. Needless to say, we've ended our decades-long relationship with Big-O Tires. read more

Big O Tires in Columbia, MO is horrible. They "forgot" to tighten the lugs on the wheel on my tires after i paid for them to replace and rotate. Going down the highway, getting into a high speed wobble, causing injury...their response "everyone makes mistakes". Their "mistake" is negligence and has cost me over $50k in medical bills and surgery so far. I asked the manager to have their district/area manager call me. No call has ever come. Paid for the full service of my engine. They claimed to do so. Same night looked under the hood and found out they didn't check anything. Went back that same night, they checked it and said "yeah it looks like they missed a couple things" and told me to come back the next day because they didn't have time to do the job they were already paid for. No refund offer for not doing the work either. Paid them twice to do an alignment on my vehicle. Each time they said they did and got it as close as was possible (still in the red on all tires). Said my frame must be bent, wore tires out quicker than it should so I had to buy more. Took it to a different shop, it aligned perfectly. No bent frame, no intentionally leaving it out of alignment to get more business. I highly recommend anyone that cares about their safety, the safety of their family and the safety of their vehicle do NOT go to the Big O on Business Loop in Columbia, MO. I challenge this page to actually allow this to be posted and not be complacent to the negligence. read more

My 23 year old daughter took her vehicle to Big O Tires on Business Loop yesterday to get a state inspection. She was told she needed a left control arm, sway bar and a third brake light. First off they charged $20.00 for a brake light. My daughter called me to talk to me about her vehicle. I get in the phone with a gentleman and tells me what is needed for her vehicle to pass inspection. I asked him why those parts needed to be replaced and all he could say was she needs them so her vehicle can pass inspection. I tell the gentlemen to repair what is needed because my child waited until the last minute to get a state inspection but that is beside the point. I tell the guy I'm going to pay for the repair. When my daughter goes to pick her vehicle up they tell her she needs a right rear control arm and an adjustable control arm "soon". Why didn't they say anything about this during the original conversation? I can guess why.....because dad said he would pay for the repairs. Bottom line is they took advantage of a young lady who went into a repair shop by herself. She nor myself will never do business again with them. read more

Where do I even start .... I was working out of town and slid into a curb in a snow storm. It destroyed the wheel and tire I found a new wheel and tire and brought it to them they put it on without test driving it I informed them I was from out of town and I had hit a curb you would think knowing I hit a curb they would have test drove the vehicle nope went to go pick it up and it wobbled down the road I turned around and told them something is broken that cost me one more day in a hotel. Come to find out the rear axle is bent they quoted me a $600 part I said there's absolutely no way that part cost $600 then quoted me $300 I found the part myself for 75. They installed it and did not install the rear axle seal. So I drove home from Missouri to Illinois with no differential fluid in my rear end I'm really sure that was good on it something smelled really hot when I got home but I figured it was just the axle grease they had to replace. So I then drove it to my next job location and it smelled really hot again so I took it to a shop they said there was no rear axle seal and no differential fluid so I basically burned out my differential I called and informed them about it they never called me back..... after several attempts to get answers I gave up . Basically they knew I was from out of town and tried to take advantage of that and charge me 600% more than the part was worth... Didn't test drive it the first repair just threw the tire and wheel on there and said good luck. Place is a joke. Thanks for all the honest help Andy. read more

These guys are honest and Great to work with. They worked on my sons car and we changed our mind on the repairs and they charged me nothing even when i offered to pay for the time and trouble. They said they understood and just asked us to come back in the future. I had a similarly good experience a couple years ago at their Osage Beach store while on vacation. Do not go here. Brought in my truck to get a tire patch as it was under warranty. They said it couldn't be fixed and gave me an estimate for things needing fixing. I didn't ask , but they came back saying I needed new ball joints, front brakes, and an alignment to the tune of 1194 dollars. In their excitement to rip me off, they didn't even give me a quote to replace the tire. Went to a trusted mechanic down the road. He patched the tire and suggested I may want to replace my front tires soon. He didn't even charge me. He checked the car over and the alignment was fine, the brakes only half way worn... and the new ball joints purchased two years ago were fine. This place is disgusting and dishonest. The only reason I gave them 1 star is 0 stars wasn't an option. Every time I went in for tire service, they tried to rip me off. read more

SEXIST AND VERY DISRESPECTFUL because we were in our early twenties, young, and not one of those 50 year old white men that comes into the shop. We came in 10:10am to ask if we could get our car looked at because it was making a hissing noise. We had called before hand and they said that they would have the time to take a look at it. We walked in and was asked to wait a little bit until they get someone to look at our car. 10:50 came along and I went to ask for an estimation of how much longer. The guy did not even allow me to finish my sentence and just cut me off mid sentence and ran off to speak with the mechanics. He came back telling me that it was going to be another hour before they could look at it. WTF. First of all, he had said that they would have the time when we were on the phone. Secondly, why couldn't he have checked with the mechanics told us that when we walked in and not leave us standing there for 40 minutes waiting? About 5 more people came into the shop and was helped within minutes. All of them were either white men in their 40s and 50s or old customers. This is unacceptable and I will never trust these type of people to work on our car. read more

I went here for a safety re-inspection - I had passed the first inspection in my hometown except I understandably needed new tires. So I get them. I was going to go back to my hometown for the free re-inspection knowing that I would pass for sure after the tire change, but it is a bit long of a drive and I do not have time to go at the moment so I go to Big-O for an inspection, spending a mere $12, no big deal. I wait 2 HOURS later (for JUST a safety inspection, they weren't even busy) for them to say I didn't pass THEIR inspection because of a TINY crack that has been in my windshield for literally 2 years...made me try to purchase an entirely new windshield from them for $200, yeah right. In the meantime, I'm broke as shit and need to get my plate renewal through the DMV asap, so they didn't help at all. Also, one guy made fun of my earrings. We were traveling I-70 E back to PA when we blew a tire on our travel trailer. We changed the tire but had no spare left. Camping World was less than a mile away.
