I needed new tires. Naturally, #BigOTires seemed like the first step. I called and spoke to a very nice gentleman named Caleb. Caleb answered all of my questions and gave me quotes for quite a few models on tires. I decided on the tires I needed and gave Caleb all my car and contact info. I asked him if they were available to get me in within the next 20 min and he said they could squeeze me in. When I arrived, I asked for Caleb and we went over the details and he took my keys. I opted to walk down the street for a slice of pizza while I waited. OK, in all honesty, I DREED going back to these places. They always try to sell you 10 different things, after they have told you the bad news that your car needs a "thingamajob" and a "tinkereytoo". I get it, I don't drive a Mercedes and I probably need to keep up on maintenance more than I do, I get it! Anyway, when I got back to Big O Tires one hour later (the time they told me it would take), I was pleasantly surprised to see them lowering my car and backing it out of the shop. I asked if it was ready and they told me they would pull it around. Not five minutes later, I was paying my tab and the only question they asked me was "Do you need anything else from us today, Leeann". MIND. BLOWN!!! They didnt try to sell me one, single, thing, that I didn't need. The entire staff at Big O Tires was great. I will totally be back for all my automotive needs!!!! read more

I would be super wary of these guys. Just seriously don't do it. Went in to get my car realigned and they told me I had bad ball joints and they couldn't realign them until they were replaced. They said even though it was a really bad issue it could "wait." In my mind those two things don't go together. They whipped up a 1800 dollar bill of things they "needed" to do. When I went to another shop, the most highly rated shop on yelp, to get my car realigned they did it no problems and I haven't had problems with the alignment of my car since, it's been like 8 months. I just recently went in, in a pinch, because the thermometer in my car has said my engine has been overheating when I drive longer than like 5 miles. It has been so bad it has been dinging at me because when I start driving the thermostat goes above the highest temperature. I was told it would be 40 bucks for them to check out the car, and when they called, they said they couldn't get it to overheat and my coolant was full. 40 bucks for checking my coolant?? Not the service I was paying for. I asked them to look further because if I didn't find the issue it would cause extreme damage to my engine, which they said they would and when I called back they forwarded my call to the mechanic who told me the exact same thing as the other guy the first time, so it was clear they didn't look further. I think they are just looking for some cash and will mark up your car way past what needs to be done if they have time. If they don't have the time or are feeling lazy, they won't give your car the time of day and that will cause a million problems down the road. read more

These people are deliberate liars! I was the second person in the door on 9/17/24 at 7:02 am. i asked for a Missouri State Vehicle inspection, and was told it would take a few minutes, so please take a seat. Both Brian and Spencer lied to me. 2.5 hours later,they still had not started my inspection, inspite of me asking "when?" several times. They all were too busy working on other peoples problems that are presumable more profitable.... such as changing a cabin filter, replacing a "damaged" oil drain plug, tracking down why a "check engine" light was on, and fixing flat tires. I really do not care how or what part of the auto care market they want to focus on. But, I will not be lied to! I finally asked for my keys back and left. I will never be back! Ken Greer read more

Needed a safety inspection- went in early on a Tuesday and the guys were great. They advised that it would take a couple hours due to other jobs / business. I left it there( they would have gave me a ride but I was close enough to walk). They text me an hour later saying it was ready. Cost was $12 (no up charges) and and check- out efficient . I've accepted the fact that, as a resident of Mid-Missouri and a woman of color, car shops will not always be the most empowering places in my life. I've come to Big O Tires on Peachtree for years though, and they have always been really kind. I haven't found a hint of condescension in my conversations with them. The reason I won't give up those next two stars is that sometimes they can be infuriatingly vague and slow. For example, my piece-O-shit car was making scraping noises consistently for a week. When I brought it in and asked for a diagnosis, I got the impression I'd get one immediately. I was there for an hour and fifteen minutes and finally got fed up, went up the counter and asked about it only to find out they hadn't even test driven it yet. I had to call my mother out of work to pick me up and return me to the office as I was already half an hour late to my shift. That being said, when they called with the diagnosis I went ahead and told them to fix it because I know no one will be as honest or do a better job. read more

I have taken my car here two times for an oil change and both times had my car sit in the parking lot for over 3 hours until I finally had to ask them for my keys back... worst customer service I have ever had and used to love to take my car here. This place is useless. I took my car there about 3 months ago to get the alignment fixed. 4 hours and a huge bill later it's not fixed. Flash forward about a month I go back for the same problem and an oil change. At least 3 and a half hours go by only for me to find out they hadn't changed my oil. Another hour went by and they successfully changed my oil and still didn't fix my alignment issue. About 3 months later I needed 4 new tires. I was told it wouldn't take more than 45 minutes to an hour so I decided to wait. I ended up waiting there 4 and a half hours only to get in my car to see my TPMS light was on. I went back and asked if there was a problem and they told me that it would be off by the time I got home. It wasn't. Then I noticed all 4 of my new tires were leaking. Now I have to go back AGAIN. read more

Big O Tires saved my butt! Last weekend I came from Kansas City after running the Sedalia Half Marathon earlier that morning and was tired and ready to take a shower. Problem was...my trunk wouldn't open! The lock had been messed up years previously when my key broke in it so the only way to get it open was to pull on the latch inside the car. At this particular moment, however, it decided to not work and all my things were in there! Being a Saturday afternoon, almost nobody was still open in town. Didn't know if Big O Tires would be able to help me but I stopped by and explained my predicament. Fortunately they had a mechanic on duty who had time to take a look at it. After taking the back seat apart he found that the culprit was....the ice scraper! It had gotten lodged in the locking mechanism, thereby preventing the trunk from opening. I was SO relieved. This place is awesome if you aren't in a big hurry to get your vehicle back - they're pretty much always busy on Saturdays or afternoons. They have been absolute lifesavers for me before - they don't just do tires and oil changes! When my transmission completely cr*pped out on my 2005 Ford Explorer, they were able to rebuild one for me over the course of a few days. It's run like a dream ever since! Excellent shop! I'm a woman who knows very little about cars but does understand moving parts (I am a somewhat competent cycle wrench). I don't want to be talked down to by staff but I do want to know what I am paying for and why. In the past, many shops in Columbia have tried to charge myself and friends for random things that either were totally optional or just not all that important at that particular time. I found one place that was okay but suddenly their prices doubled. I came here at the recommendation of a female friend. I use them for basic maintenance and tire repair - stuff that HAS to be done to keep my car running great. Their oil change is very affordable, they usually have great coupons, and the service is great. So far, I've bought a tire when I had a blow out flat, got my oil changed and alignment checked, and had my alignment done. The guy in charge is always willing to try to get something in your price range. He knows I'm a grad student and always helps me out. No one there has ever been anything but pleasant (even when they were super busy and some customers were being downright rude) and everything is on the up-and-up. They explain things without being patronizing and treat women and men alike with respect. In two trips and several interactions, they have earned a customer. No, it is not the swankiest place in town and they don't do everything but I trust them with the routine maintenance of my 5 year old car which I want to keep running for as long as possible. read more

Went somewhere initially to get my flat tire fixed. I assumed it was just a small hole that could be patched, but the place told me a patch wouldn't work and needed a whole new tire. I wasn't buying it, I then stopped by Big O Tires and told them my problem and they explained that it could be patched and was only going to cost $20. They saved me $140 and their honesty went a long way. Couldn't recommend the staff enough if you're ever wondering where to get your tires fixed. read more

I went on a busy Saturday morning and it took them over 4 hours to change my flat tire. I also asked to have the tire sensors looked at and possibly replaced and service was not performed. I returned the following Monday since something just wasn't right with the new tire. Guess what, they put the wrong size tire on my car. Ryan, the manager was more than apologetic and helpful in replacing the tire with the proper size and dealing with the tire sensors as I originally asked. I was given a discount on the new sensors and reimbursed some money for the smaller, cheaper, and proper tire. However, as helpful and polite as the management is, I will never return to BigO as I absolutely do not trust them now. Throughly disappointed. read more

I've brought several vehicles here over the years and this has usually been my go to place until now. I had some work done and when I pick my vehicle up my $600 pioneer touch screen radio won't work and one of my aftermarket lights didn't work. I called them the next day and brought my car back in. They fixed the light but washed their hands of the radio issue. I'm now in the processes of contacting corporate and the BBB. I'm not going to just look the other way when I bring my vehicle in and my radio was working completely fine and then when I pick it up it's fried. Time to take responsibility!!! read more

Today I stopped into Big O Tires to have my tires checked out due to a slow leak that was occurring from a patch that they had plugged in a tire previously. I wasn't expecting to get hit with the news that I needed two new tires. I looked at the manager, Bob, like he was just trying to take advantage of another woman that didn't know a thing about cars. Bob Reassured me that swindling me was the last thing he wanted to do and was absolutely concerned about my safety. The guys at the shop were thorough and provided excellent service. The Big O Tires located at Peachtree Dr, Columbia MO really ticked me off on Thursday, 12/05/13. I took my VW GTI to do a quick oil change and tire rotation at 2:30 pm. There were only 2 customers ahead of me. I waited until 4pm, the car was still not in the shop. I had someone to pick me up due to other arrangement. They called about 6pm and told me the car is ready. So my friend took me back. When I got there, the car is NOT ready. They said they have called the wrong person or they had the car mixed it up. Around 7 my car was finally ready. BUT, they forgot to do the tire rotation, and they told me to come back the next day. Friday afternoon, my husband got home before I do, and found some oils on my parking spot, and the car was definitely leaking some oils, and I had to take the car back again. They kept apologized to me, but this was a truly bad experience for me. read more

I went in and asked about a knocking sound while turning/going over bumps, and thought an alignment might help. They did the alignment that day, but couldn't find the knocking. Took my car in the next day for them to tell me that I had bad ball joints. I replaced the ball joints myself after the expensive quote. Took the car back in to get re-aligned within the warranty period of the alignment, but they charged me again since I did work on it myself. My issue is that they charged me for a bogus alignment the first time since a ball joint check should have been done. Will be taking my business elsewhere next time. read more

I got an oil change and tire rotation on Thursday. I was impressed with the staff and excited when it didn't take as long as I had expected. I went out of town this weekend and shortly into my trip my back passenger tire started making an awful noise. My brother-in-law checked it out and found two of the lugnuts were completely off, and all of the others on my back two tires had only been hand tightened. He says I'm lucky the tires had not yet fallen off.... I will NOT be returning to Big O!!!!! read more

BEWARE IF YOU ARE FEMALE My belief is that at least the Peachtree location has a standard $600 minimum for any unsuspecting female who walks in the door. Twice this has happened to me, once I fell for half of it. My daughter recently moved out on her own and was looking for a reliable place to have the car I had given her serviced and inspected. When I lived in Columbia I had used Big-O on the Bus Loop so I pointed her to the nearest Big-O. She took the car in for an oil change and an inspection. When the garage called she was told she would need a new tire, an alignment, a power steering flush and a transmission flush. With labor about $600. My daughter immediately panicked. Thankfully she wasn't alone with a credit card, she had me. I had her buy the tire as threads were indeed showing, had the oil change and inspection and vowed to return to finish the work: Fast forward 900 miles on the car and 45 days later. My daughter and I return to have the alignment taken care of. We have been quoted $145.00 labor included for this (in writing.) We dropped the car off and went to lunch. During lunch the garage called. They said they would not be able to even do the alignment as the tie rods were so bad. She would need to replace the tie rods, wheel bearings, 2 new tires and, of course, the alignment. about $600. Long story short? Our business is safer elsewhere. Our suspension ended up being just fine. As for the rest, we have not been advised by our NEW AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE PROVIDER to replace any tires or do any $100 flushes. Also, our alignment was $69.95. Big-O (Big-UGH)has proven to be exactly what every woman hates about a garage. It seems to just be a place where ignorant men treat women like they are stupid and then steal their money. read more

I took my 2016 Toyota Tundra Platinum to Bio O Tires on Peachtree Dr. on Saturday 9/17/2016 to get my existing tires mounted on new rims. I took a walk around of the vehicle and I noticed Big O damaged my driver's door down to the metal, damaged two of my brand new rims and managed to damage 3 out of 4 of my factory rims. The damage was never disclosed to me upfront, almost as if they wanted to see if I'd noticed the damage. I pointed out the damage to Riley and I was told that Big O would "take care of me". It took me going to Corporate to get any action done, I sat for weeks waiting for my truck to get approved through Big O's "insurance". Once I called corporate I was told that no insurance would be used and they would pay the repair shop directly. The staff at Big O are deceitful and were not truthful or upfront with me during this whole process. I was told I would be called and 99.9% of the time I had to call to get an answer, Big O did not call me back. The store manager Nick was unprofessional and deceiving. I had to contact Scott Watson at the Corporate Office to get any action done on my truck. Nick seems like I was inconveniencing him with my issues that HIS STAFF caused to my $52,000 truck, Nick did not give a crap until I contact the Corporate Office and his tone immediately changed. I recommend that if you have a nice vehicle to stay away from this store, and if you have any issues go straight to Corporate so you don't waste 2-3 weeks waiting for Big O to "take care of you". If Robert Martin (85460) is the tech for your vehicle on the invoice, I suggest you take a look around your vehicle to ensure there is no damage. They will not be up front about any damage they incur to your vehicle. I am glad I walked around my truck prior to leaving, or I would have been stuck with 3 damaged factory wheels, 2 damaged brand new wheels, and a $1,054.21 door repaint repair on a $52,000 truck. read more

Don't bother wasting your time or money at this location. Took my car in for two tires and a oil change. First of all, I had to wait two hours while people that came in after me where getting in and out with little to no wait for their vehicle to get a full inspection done. Secondly, after waiting two hours, I finally went to the counter to get an update and the guy has the nerve to say it will be an additional thirty minutes to get the tires aligned. I already wasted two hours of my time and I wasn't about to add to that running tally. Finally, the cherry on top of this train wreck of a cake, today I was running errands and needed gas. Once I was done filling up the tank, my car notified me of low oil life. Having already paid for an oil change yesterday, I figured that the computer was just off and needed to be reset, no big deal, right? I checked the dip stick and guess what, FILTH covered the stick, which means that the "mechanics" at Big O Tires simply replaced the sticker in the window and moved on. Now my tire pressure light is on and a burning smell is coming from my car. Funny thing is this location didn't forget to take to slip in a tire protection plan that I didn't agree to in the already $300 bill. Don't mess up your car and waste your time at this place.
