I moved my daughter into the Suites this weekend. It was not a pleasant experience. A couple…read morethings.... Elevator - she is on the 5th floor and the 2 little girls in the office told me that we would have to use the stairs. We did 2 loads and about died. Thankfully a nice cleaning lady let us use the elevator. PLEASE be more aware. Were we never asked about health conditions or being physically able to use all those stairs. Paying $720 a month and no elevator, pretty ghetto. Jack Card - the 2 little girls in the office never told us after handing us the key to her apartment that we needed to have her Jack card to even get in the building. Pretty important. But one was busy eating so go figure. Parking - I was told to be careful unloading the car as you could get a ticket. WOW! Move-in time and you are really going to ticket parents to get money. Do better! Common sense, were are moving a student in. Signs - NO signs that say 2nd floor Welcome Center this way! Nope, had to guess where it was at. No signs to say park here to check-in. Soo many parents doing U-turns. Put out signage! Payment - the little girls couldn't take a payment BUT had to ask about it first. Train them better. Office workers - please screen these people before you hire them and then train them once you hire them. NOT helpful at all! And I heard that from multiple parents.

Don't live here to go to college. I blame this place for making my college year even more…read moredifficult; the wifi is so slow it's hard to do assignments, my power went out MULTIPLE TIMES while living here, all the time power goes out and you are out of luck until tomorrow no way to finish assignments unless you use your phone. I got charged a bunch of fees for "wall damage" and repairs, when I have photo proof of there being none, when I complained the management team said it was too far past the time I'm allowed to combat it ?? It cost me so much money to live here, I had to go to the other side of campus to print out materials for my classes because you only get like 5 pages for free. Overall bad experience.

I've lived here for almost 3 years. Here's my experience:…read more - Located on campus, and is housing for students only - that's great! - NAU Police enforces campus law here - which is great - and don't worry, you'll get to know them pretty well...they are here a lot! - Managed by American Campus Communities (ACC) - that's not great! - ACC needs to improve in many areas. Here are some examples: 1. Summer of 2025: sent out an e-mail that mattresses will be replaced. By the end of the summer, I didn't get a new one and had to reach out to them to find out why. Oh- they didn't order enough. Too bad, I don't get one. Even though my flat sad mattress is from 2014 (original from when Hilltop was built). 2. In the Fall (September), Hilltop starts sending out "RENEW NOW FOR LOWEST RATES" e-mails to their current residents. I renewed early (reluctantly, but in prior years, that was always the lowest rate. And, I did like the convenient location on campus). A few months later, my room style was priced $240 lower PER MONTH than what I signed on my contract. Apparently, ACC didn't account for classic Supply and Demand principles related to the increased supply of student housing (the new Park Place apartments offered much nicer, new apartments for less than old Hilltop's prices). So Hilltop was forced to lower their prices to try to fill the community (I was told they never did get it completely filled). After contacting the Hilltop management and begging for some kind of discount or concession (even just free parking), they said absolutely not. Essentially, a big "FU" to me. They claimed if they lowered my rent/ re-did my lease, they'd have to do it for everyone who signed early. I later found out that they indeed DID let certain students re-do their lease. They also decided to later offer 10 month leases only, and let some people change to those but never notified or offered that to residents who had signed early. That would have been beneficial to me. I see that now they offer 'lowest rate guarantees', so they must now realize how terrible they treated some of us. But, Hilltop, I am sorry...it's too late in my case. You got an extra $2,880 from me. I hope it was worth it...I will never, ever recommend an ACC property to anyone I know. 3. Maintenance personnel over the years is hit and miss - some are very nice, and some clearly don't like their jobs. We had an issue with our front door not locking and at one point they wanted us to just leave our apartment without being able to lock it. It's a long story, but just one example of how they don't care about our safety. 4. They have a rule stating you cannot lock any type of bike or scooter to stairwells or walkway railings (lock it to the bike racks only), but they never enforce it. I've had to maneuver around bikes, e-bikes, scooters when walking to my front door many times. I think this is against fire code, too. 5. They advertise package lockers. BUT, they're only accessible during the (inconvenient) office hours. The office is completely closed on Sundays. Since I first moved in 3 years ago, they've drastically decreased the hours that the office and amenities are open. 6. The only amenity you can use when the office is closed, is the gym. Nothing else. 7. The Zego utility bills keep increasing and nobody can explain why. 8. Parking lot becomes one large sheet of ice in the winter. They are too lazy to properly plow the snow. Good luck! 9. Finally, the entire flooring replacement project is likely breaking some kind of Arizona landlord-tenant laws. They are forcing students, during the school year, to pack up their entire apartment and vacate for a few days. WHAT? Oh, and they 'hope' they are able to clean up all the dust before you occupy your apartment again. Oh, and there might be fumes from the glue. The note they leave on your door, prior to starting the project, states conflicting construction dates. They should be providing alternate lodging during our construction dates, but because ACC is focused on the almighty dollar (and NOT you, the student, even though their website says otherwise), they would never do that. There's a lot more I could say. And if ACC posts a reply saying they'd like me to reach out to discuss these issues...I already have reached out, as have other residents. ACC will not resolve things and will not care. Please choose your student housing wisely.

PARENTS BE WARE!!!! This is my own personal experience as a parent, with Hilltop Townhomes managed…read moreby American Campus Communities. I would give them zero stars if I could. They allow students the access to fraudulently renew leases with their parents as guarantors, then try to hold parents responsible for "auto" renew leases. This is absorb and against real estate law in Arizona. Please be aware of this scam. I am sure many parents are held illegally responsible for leases that they did not renew. Please reach out to me if you have been impacted.

This small to midsize university is nestled in the mountains of beautiful Flagstaff, Arizona. The…read morecampus is lovely and all of the students that work. The tours are extremely friendly, personable, and knowledgeable!. In addition to the great location, it's walking distance to the downtown area of Flagstaff, which is just delightful. Great shops, plentiful, coffee, shops, record, stores, bookstores, etc. It really has that small hometown feel. :)

Since the massive drop in enrollment (3k) for Fall 2026 and the 250+ person layoff (Summer 2026),…read morethe university is really struggling. It's not just philosophically; it's everything. Instead of laying off administrators, they've laid off actual boots-on-the-ground workers. The president just got a 20% raise. Two percent per year is standard, not 20. Overall, I think the university is hypocritical. Your experience, unfortunately, heavily depends upon your professor, major, supervisor, or manager. Experience is inconsistent across the the board. Their parking and transit is failing. Special events are unsupported. Maintenance and custodial staff are overworked and falling behind. Residence hall staff are overworked. Budgets are being slashed. Morale is really low. If you're a potential student, you'll need to do a lot of independent research to see if attending NAU is a good choice not just for your MAJOR but also OVERALL. Conditions are getting tough. Flagstaff is getting more expensive, ironically. God knows, DO NOT LIVE IN McCONNELL HALL. It's a mess! The electrical system, plumbing, WiFi, hot water, and smoke alarm system are all a cluster. It's also very noisy since they removed the carpeting. Further, the building layout is confusing, the lights obnoxious, and the colors are ugly. It's kind of depressing. So, if you're affected by your environment, I would live off campus rather than McConnell Hall.

definitely pros and cons. so here are mine that I think might be helpful:…read more pros: close to campus, fully furnished, equally priced to most other apartments up front cons: high electricity fees, cleanliness isn't up to par for the amount you pay for rent, cheap building materials that are easily damaged and break often, very limited parking, and the turn in/out of the parking lot is super annoying, plus they WILL tow you even if there isn't enough parking spaces which is their problem imo. i think it's a good place to live for the most part, most of the staff is great! but i do think they are understaffed. don't have super high expectations, it's a college apartment. but I think there are better places to live if you are going to pay $900+ a month for rent.

Number 1: NO PARKING, if you don't get a parking pass before they run out, you will get towed and…read morehave to fork out $300+ to get your car back every time. Number 2: THE TRASH, they rarely clean out the trash rooms if ever, and the trash cans at the bottom of the elevators are always flooded and spilled out onto the floor, biohazard smell and if you have a dog you have to keep them on a tight leash so they don't eat something that's been rotting for days. Number 3: PETS, like mentioned, this place is all indoors where all apartments are accessed through the inside, and the floors around the stair doors are filled with piss stains from dog owners trying to walk their dog, it reeks and they haven't done a single thing about it. Sometimes if you're lucky you might happen upon a puddle in the elevator! Number 4: THE MAINTENANCE, roommate literally tore the thermostat clear off the wall and then moved out the next day with no repercussions, and we were still charged the same utility bill for the two months it took them to fix it. There was a whole ass inoperable moped in the living room for pretty much the entire term, and the front office did nothing about it. (I'll attach the photo I took if I can find it), Another time, a guy unlocked and entered my room while I was watching a TV show and started looking around my room "for damages" in the middle of the second half of the term, I don't recall hearing a knock or an announcement, but they had supposedly sent out an email earlier in the day. Number 5: THE FEES, $150 redecorating fee they give you so they can do absolutely nothing to your unit before you move in, I'll also include the fees they're gonna put up my ass after cleaning the common area alone while all three of my other roommates left a month ago. I don't smoke or drink, but I just cleaned up 50 empty liquor bottles and scrubbed resin off the shitty floorboards for the past 3 days in their honor. Don't live here. Edit: since I haven't been charged the fees after moving out yet, I'll come back and remove that part if the opposite happens, until then I won't keep my hopes up. As a side note, the staff is actually pretty nice despite the cons, but I don't rent an apartment for the staff, I rent it for the conditions.
