Need an uncommon power adapter or battery? I long for the days when there was a Radio Shack on every street corner, open until 9pm, staffed by a grouchy old guy who knew everything about electronics (perhaps the brother of the grouchy old guy at the hardware store who knew everything about fixing anything?). Well, it's not on every street corner, and not open until 9pm. And the old guy is long gone, the staff under 40 pudgy white guys who dont know what a resistor is. But it's THERE. And they still stock the same selection Radio Shack did before they closed (far smaller than they did in the 1980s, but still very useful). I deducted 1 star because a lot of the items I needed were out of stock, or they only had 1. I dont know if that's a common occurrence or a fluke of the day I went. Yes, you can pay significantly less and order the stuff online and get it in a week or two (2 days if you're lucky enough to find it on Prime). But if you need it the same day, as I did, give these guys a try.

He remembered me from 1991 when he installed a stereo in my 1981 Toyota Celica. When we were discussing the security system for my BMW, we talked about the system he installed in my Celica. He detailed the components like he installed them last week. A short time ago, my security system wasn't working right so I contacted Paul. He asked me to bring in my car and he would take a look at it. When I got there, one of his technicians, Jason Salas, noticed that the wire to the antenna at the top of the windshield was not hooked up to anything. I told him that I recently had my windshield replaced and that the two sided tape holding the thing up there came loose. Not knowing what that thing was, I disconnected it and put it in my car somewhere . Paul asked me where it was. I told him it fell off the windshield because it was not attached right and that it was in the car somewhere. After we found it, Jason put it back in place with some good two-sided tape and the alarm worked right again. I told Paul I was amazed at how quickly Jason diagnosed the problem. He told me "Jason was Installer of the Year in the entire country as recognized by the Mobile Electronics Retailers Association back in '06/'07." Paul and Jason are the kind of people who work at AMS and that's the kind of service I've been getting there since 1991. I highly recommend AMS for their selection of quality car stereo equipment, automobile security systems and especially for the people who install everything they sell."
