Yes it's a Radio Shack! Yes it's still in business! Yes they stock all the weird odds and ends…read moreyou could only get at Radio Shack before they closed. Need a resistor? Need a relay? Need an uncommon power adapter or battery? I long for the days when there was a Radio Shack on every street corner, open until 9pm, staffed by a grouchy old guy who knew everything about electronics (perhaps the brother of the grouchy old guy at the hardware store who knew everything about fixing anything?). Well, it's not on every street corner, and not open until 9pm. And the old guy is long gone, the staff under 40 pudgy white guys who dont know what a resistor is. But it's THERE. And they still stock the same selection Radio Shack did before they closed (far smaller than they did in the 1980s, but still very useful). I deducted 1 star because a lot of the items I needed were out of stock, or they only had 1. I dont know if that's a common occurrence or a fluke of the day I went. Yes, you can pay significantly less and order the stuff online and get it in a week or two (2 days if you're lucky enough to find it on Prime). But if you need it the same day, as I did, give these guys a try.

In 2010, when I got my 2001 BMW, it was vandalized it so I went to AMS for a security system. I…read morespoke to Paul Nachreiner, now the President at AMS. He remembered me from 1991 when he installed a stereo in my 1981 Toyota Celica. When we were discussing the security system for my BMW, we talked about the system he installed in my Celica. He detailed the components like he installed them last week. A short time ago, my security system wasn't working right so I contacted Paul. He asked me to bring in my car and he would take a look at it. When I got there, one of his technicians, Jason Salas, noticed that the wire to the antenna at the top of the windshield was not hooked up to anything. I told him that I recently had my windshield replaced and that the two sided tape holding the thing up there came loose. Not knowing what that thing was, I disconnected it and put it in my car somewhere . Paul asked me where it was. I told him it fell off the windshield because it was not attached right and that it was in the car somewhere. After we found it, Jason put it back in place with some good two-sided tape and the alarm worked right again. I told Paul I was amazed at how quickly Jason diagnosed the problem. He told me "Jason was Installer of the Year in the entire country as recognized by the Mobile Electronics Retailers Association back in '06/'07." Paul and Jason are the kind of people who work at AMS and that's the kind of service I've been getting there since 1991. I highly recommend AMS for their selection of quality car stereo equipment, automobile security systems and especially for the people who install everything they sell."

For those not familiar with the product,…read moreit's additional insulation to reduce road noise with the added benefit of retaining more sound from your speakers. It also makes your doors sound more solid when closed and eliminates rattling/vibration. Unless AMS installs it. The rattles and vibrations from my doors/windows has increased dramatically since this "work" was done. They got me in one time to see what they could do and said they couldn't find anything loose in my doors. Wish I had saved my money as the road noise was much more tolerable than my windows and doors rattling with every small bump in the road or my speakers. Edit: Thank you for the long-winded and unnecessary explanation. None of what you wrote justifies my car sounding worse than it did before the installation. I realize things loosen up over time but if you recall, I initially made the complaint shortly after the install and was told nothing could be done after my door was taken apart by you a second time. My doors didn't rattle before and they did after, simple as that.

I've tried to get help for my Mac problems from Willy Tech Shop (in my neighborhood) a few times…read moreover the past few years, but have been rebuffed (and sometimes rudely) each time. They don't really sell much Apple equipment there, either... just some random cords and accessories... for everything else, they told me to order from the Apple Store online. Very strange. The last time I needed help, I saw on their website that they offered "on-site support," too... but when I went down to the store to enquire if they had anybody who might come to my place to do the work (after my voicemail was ignored), the man working there rudely rebuffed me ... even going so far as to make me feel bad that I didn't know what my problem was, beyond the fact that my new Time Machine wasn't saving back-ups. I eventually had to call AppleCare, which was able to solve my problem. I really don't understand how this place stays in business, since they don't seem very eager to accept work and they don't respond to voicemails. At least, not from me.
