Are zero stars an option? Lowe's has a contract with this company to install appliances. I will not order another appliance from Lowe's until they find a new company to provide installations. Lowe's has had the dishwasher sitting in their warehouse since July 26th. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I made the installation appointment on July 28th, I told the woman that I was leaving town and August 8 was the last day available for installation. It was set for August 8, with no follow-up for a timeframe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On the day of scheduled installation, I received a call at 11:27 from the most unprofessional person, who informed me that my installation was canceled due to a "medical emergency." They came out and fixed my issue so I thought a little over 2 months later I was having the same issue with the kitchen sink leaking. Had an issue with a leak in a plumbing pipe in the backyard that was causing major flooding. Reached out to my home warranty and got a contract plumber from Universal Plumbing to come out Tuesday, October 4th to diagnose the problem. He was able to find the leak, but didn't look at the actual pipes or assess which parts were needed. I was later told by Universal Plumbing that this was because the home warranty hadn't approved the repair at that time. With the plumber unable to do any work I then called the home warranty again to find out how long it would take for the approval to get sent out. After leaving a very honest review with my home warranty company they suddenly became very anxious to help. The same cannot be said for Universal Plumbing. All they wanted to do, throughout the entire process, was place blame onto the home warranty company. Meanwhile we have had to live in our home with no running water. I was having to use containers of water in order to do the most basic things. When you are without running water you can't bathe, you can't brush your teeth, you can't wash your hands, you can flush the toilets, you can't do laundry, you can't wash dishes. This was our situation for weeks. When I asked Universal Plumbing, who is a 24/7 company, why this didn't constitute as an emergency they said it was because it was only a "slow drip leak". At this point I was beyond livid and wanting to prove a point so I went out, turned on the water and let it run for a full 20 minutes. Within that time the flooding was back and I recorded the damage in a video. Any time the water was turned on, the flooding in the backyard returned and was so bad that it ran over into the neighbors' backyard as well. The video clearly shows the flooding and that it was not at all a "slow drip leak". And how would Universal Plumbing even know the extent of the damage? The water was off when they came and they had only been out the one time and barely even bothered to look at the full issue. Which again Universal Plumbing says, is because of the home warranty. Fast forward to Thursday, October 20th. We are now in week three and the approval has finally gotten to Universal Plumbing, but now they say they must order parts. What parts? I have no clue, and also have no clue as to how they know what parts are even needed since their first and only time to come out wasn't thorough in the slightest. Now again, this is a 24/7 company. The approval was received on a Thursday yet no one came out for repair until Wednesday, October 26th. The gentleman that came on Wednesday was able to complete the repair, but had the wrong part. The part that was specifically ordered for our repair and pushed this issue into its third week ended up being too short. The gentleman told me that they have plenty of parts at their shop, which is just about 7 minutes down the road, so all he had to do was make a quick run to the shop. About 20 minutes later, he was back and after about another 10 minutes, he was done. To find out that they had the necessary parts just approximately 7 minutes away was what really opened my eyes. Universal Plumbing can blame whoever they want, but there is no excuse to make someone, without running water in their home, wait a week to get someone out to do the repair. I am absolutely at a loss and can not justify how this could even be possible. I have had to devote way too much of my time trying to get this solved and I was left feeling played. What is the point of being a 24/7 emergency service boasting company if you make a customer wait a week for that emergency service?! All I've learned about Universal Plumbing is that they are absolutely incapable of doing their job accordingly and are completely untrustworthy. I strongly encourage anyone reading this review to look elsewhere for a plumbing company. I cannot express the utter disappointment I have with Universal Plumbing and I made sure to call and let them know that I was dissatisfied and would be writing a review. They have simply proven that they are useless and completely unnecessary. Now in order to end on a good note I did also let it be know that I was very impressed with the plumber who came to resolve the issue. He was the one that let me know that not only do they have parts in shop, but that the plumbers themselves carry parts in their vans. They contract with Lowe's. I had high hopes and thought the 2 star status could be managed since I was buying through Lowe's. I was TEARFULLY wrong. 1. They don't cover their feet on a job. 2. They will take your booties & put on whatever you got. 3. They will actually show up. 4. Expect the walkie talkie to be going because my parental guesses they don't trust the folks to actually work. This wasn't an issue yesterday but they are rocking and rolling today. 5. They didn't combine the 2 separate jobs: we had to deal with a line issue & a Lowe's water heater install. For whatever reason the earliest date given to me to install the water heater was Thursday but somehow they could manage to come out and complete 2 other jobs on Tuesday or Wednesday prior to the contracted Lowe's job 6. I talked myself into believing well maybe they have different guys doing repair work and other guys doing installs for their vendors. Dear Humans of Earth, the same guy came out both days. 1. Got an extension cord 2. Where's your broom? 3. Dustpan? 4. May I have some water? 5. Mind if I borrow your bathroom? I could go on but hey... If you can deal with all this or manage the apathetic customer service (I mean it isn't totally nonexistent but there's much to be desired). The parental has a nagging suspicion that they don't behave as such when going into high end/top of price point houses. I really wanted to like them. I would give zero stars if I could. They left a huge mess in my shower. Took me a hour to get all the trash and black marks off the tile but I wish that it was the worst I could say. This company was sent out by American Homeshield. They said they fixed the problem. That has yet to be determined tho. When I used my washing machine later that night I went to put clothes in the dryer and noticed my socks were soaking wet when I stepped close to the washer. The washing machine was dry on the front and sides so it didn't overflow so I looked behind and saw they did not connect the hose back to the wall so when my washing machine drained it drained onto the floor! Also during the process of cleaning this up I noticed a huge crack on the front of my dryer. we called American home shield to report the problem, but they said they cannot hold the contractors responsible. All they could do was call the company and ask them to fix it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We also called Universal plumbing and they just said "we didn't do it it's not our fault".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] we called State Farm and they too said "not our problem". Universal Plumbing was not what I expected, since Home Depot contracts them out. The job was not done to my satisfaction, and I am the customer. If I am paying out of pocket for a service, I deserve to have it done well. The appearance of the tankless hot water heater they installed was tacky, when compared to the tankless heaters of others by other companies.. One small hose was damaged. I asked the company to change it out, and I was told the city inspector approved it. If I had to pay $1500 for an installation, I want everything brand new! All they had to do was change out the hose!! Instead, they chose to show a lack of integrity, opting not to replace the hose. Before the technician came out, I had hot water from the bathroom sink. After the installation was complete, I had no hot water. Universal Plumbing has a terrible attitude and does sloppy work. They broke a floorboard, broke my great grandmothers goblets, and did a sloppy job installing. Their attitude was "they fell" and "this happens." The technician did not have a ladder tall enough to reach the second story so left the vent leaning away from the house and also towards the street. He did not bring towels or rags and asked to use ours which he left dirty for us to wash. He cut a huge, unnecessary hole in the window. They did not have a ladder to get to the second floor and the outside pipe leans both away from the house and towards the street. This company was sent out by my home warranty company to repair a toilet leak. The short story is, it wasn't repaired. Because the water damage on the ceiling below from the leak had not yet been repaired (we were waiting for the contractor to get us in), we didn't realize the leak hadn't actually been fixed and had continued within the wall/ceiling. Now we have extensive water damage that will cost far more than a plumbing repair to fix. This is on top of the plumber they sent out clearly having issues (which is too much to type here, but when reported to the company, they didn't seem to care). I was telling another plumber (one we have hired to actually fix the problem, which is exact same issue they said they resolved) about "the worst plumbers in Shreveport", and he immediately guessed it was Universal. Unrelated to the current job, they also handle installation for Lowes' appliances. Even Lowes employees feel bad sending them to houses due to all the complaints. I guess the condition of their work trucks should've been the first clue - they are beat to death and had severely cracked windshield. When asked how it passed inspection, the plumber said, "the owner knows somebody." If you read their reviews and the company's responses, you will see nothing is ever their fault and they are rude in their responses (they are rude on the phone as well). Where there is smoke, there is fire. If so many customers complain and you say every time it's the customer, it may be time to engage in some self-reflection. So, all that to say, do not call these people to your home unless you want to risk having even more of a problem than when you started. read more

This is a HORRIBLE company. The office staff is unprofessional & shows no real interest in helping you. They act as if they are doing you a favor by scheduling an appointment with them. I was constantly told someone will call you later to schedule an appointment. Then when technician came out, although he was nice, he did repairs but did not correct the leak. It was leaking more the following day. Called office back & again it was the run around trying to get someone to call back to reschedule a repair. I asked my warranty company to please send another company out. Do not purchase appliances from any company that uses UP for installation. Purchased dishwasher from Lowe's. Paid for installation of the new one and removal of the old one which worked. UP came out and began installing the new one but they found it to be defective. UP left the old washer in my kitchen area and the new but defective one that would not power up too. Demanded $100 from ME to plug old one back. I at least wanted the old one that worked plugged back in. No! They left with both in kitchen area and me having no working dishwasher. WORST PLUMBING COMPANY WE HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. If there was a way to give negative "stars" we would. A quick review---water leak in upstairs bathroom. "Plumber" from Universal came out and said line was just stopped up and that he had cleaned it out and everything was working great. A few days later another leak----this one was so bad we had to at the plumber's recommendation call ServPro to come in to clean up destruction---floors had to be taken up, Sheetrock taken off, insulation between floors removed and downstairs ceiling, paneling removed to dry---over $10,000.00 in damage. Told by plumber on this 2nd visit that line was still stopped up but that he "fixed" it. We inquired about a possible water leak due to the tremendous amount of water involved. We were assured he was positive there was no broken pipe/water leak. A few days later more water. On the 3rd visit by a different employee of Universal within ten minutes determined that there was indeed a broken sewer pipe in the slab. A few days later Universal repaired the broken pipe by jack hammering thru the slab inside creating a huge mess even though we provided and requested tarps be put up to contain the dust which they did not do. They were told numerous times that we had a post tension slab and to identify where the cables were. They did not do this and cut thru two post tension cables causing us to incur another expense and delay. They left and we still have a huge hole in the room where they dug up the slab. We called and requested to talk with the owner. We have been told by the office that the owner refuses to talk to us. We have paid for the repair (4th visit) and three service calls prior ---two of those being totally misdiagnoses of the problem and the third call taking ten minutes to identify the problem with no work being done the third time. We intend to pursue this through every means available to us. We attempted to give the owner an opportunity to "make things right" with us but on two requests to talk to him we were finally told that he refuses to return our call or speak with us. We used universal plumbing through our home warranty. The guy that came by our house was very nice and went over everything that needed to be done before he started as well as how much it would cost. He even let us know half way through when he looked at our water faucet outside that theres a chance depending on how it was connected that it could break the pipe. He informed us that it would be covered if it did happen to. After it was all fixed we noticed on his way out that the water was now cloudy and he came back in to fix that as well real quick. read more

They were talking on a radio and I asked to speak directly to the scheduler. Was told that was against company policy (even though I could hear both ends of their conversation). This has to be the worst plumbing company in town. The technician was rude and incompetent. He wanted to stop the job while half completed due to being rained on. When he was contacted by the company to finish the job he proceeded to pitch a fit in my front yard throwing his tools and cursing to the point my neighbor called the police. The company gave a small compensation for the cost of the work. While working on the leak the tech let mud/dirt get in the lines to the point it clogged the cold water to my kitchen sink. Will NOT follow through on call backs, oh and God forbid you need to actually USE the "24/7" service they advertise because NO ONE will call you or show up. Universal Plumbing was supposed to be at my home On February 18 for a septic system that has a failed effluent pump and control board. They still haven't shown up and it is March 12. They were supposed to be here several times not only did they not show up, but they don't call either to tell they are not coming. They are by far the worst home service group that I have ever worked with. When they did show up to look at the problem, they sent a plumber that knew nothing about septic systems. I had to walk him through the problems that I had to investigate and find myself. I had to rig up a temporary fix for my family to continue to live our home and are now I'm still waiting for this horrible crew to arrive. I would say buyer beware if you need a plumber that cares about getting you or your family out of a serious situation. I'd suggest that nobody ever call Universal Plumbing to do anything! read more

When their office was informed about his behavior, no apology was made just more excuses, nor did the owner return our phone call as requested. Later, when the office was informed that the plumber was incorrect in his assumption of the sewer problem (after the City of Bossier was involved), they still offered no apology for his behavior. A simple "I'm sorry for your inconvenience" would go a long way. Universal did not take care of the plumbing problem. The City of Bossier stepped in and took care of it for us, since Universal was incapable. read more

Had I given a review when first dealing with Universal plumbing, Shreveport, I would have given a -1. Rick's demeanor was dry, curt, plan old bad. Fast forward 18 months since when my hot water heater was installed and having watched carefully the installation, the quality of the work was above average. I waited this long time just so I would give an objective review and test the system thoroughly. Prior to the install I also had concerns based on the low ratings. The city's licensing representative did come to the property during the install and affirmed that work was up to code. I do not even feel this company is worth the one star that I have rated it. I believe they are nothing but lazy Crooks. We were referred to them buy American Home Shield, and from the beginning I should have known how things were going to go. The day that they came out, which was about 3 days after they were assigned to us, they informed us that they needed an additional $75 on top of the $75 service fee to clear the pipes causing the stoppage. They've been claimed that they had to stop because the stoppage went out past the street. When we called back and told them we were going to call the city, as any stoppage past the street is their responsibility, Universal Plumbing suddenly changed their tune and said that the stoppage was entirely on our property. AHS does not cover our problem because we do not have a clean out and Universal Plumbing said that they would charge $350 to install a clean out, and finish clearing the pipe. Then for nearly a week they could not make it out here for some reason or another. When they did finally show up, they claimed that we would have to pay another $200 so that they could locate the line again before finishing. We live on a fixed income, and could not possibly hope to afford an additional $550 over the $150 we have already paid them. We have called AHS and they are sending out another plumber today who has already agreed to finish the job for the $350 we were originally quoted, plus the $75 service fee. While this is still expensive, it is better than the runaround we were getting from Universal Plumbing. I feel like they did not want to do the work, but wanted to see how much money they could get from us. I think they took advantage of to visually impaired people, and I will personally do all that I can to make sure that everyone knows how they really are. read more

Would give them no stars if possible. They came to hook up new a new faucet at my house. First off, they tell me I need a new garbage disposal AFTER hooking up my old one and giving me the bill? Why didn't they tell me before? Even worse than that, I notice on other side of sink, (not dispoal side) --it's leaking underneath where pipe connects to sink. The plumber told me before he left he COULDN'T check sink for leak because he didn't have a stopper? Anyway, I call back and tell them its leaking where pipe connects and ask someone to come look at--they say they will. Miraculouly, when they are about to come out and check for the leak they call and say I need new part because the old one they hooked up was slightly detoriated?? Wow, really? And it will be ANOTHER $122--Isnt that something they should have said when they were hooking it up? The plumber "couid not remember" why he didnt check for a leak when he was there according to them? He "did remember" to collect $300 from me to hook it up though??
